WATW- Wattled cranes

August 2013   I've missed a couple of weeks of Friday photo posts, but I'm back. These are some more sights from last year's zoo trip. Did you know wattled cranes can grow up to six feet tall?

Blue and white tablescape

Sometimes the time in between holidays or "seasons" leaves me at a loss for how to decorate.  However, this time I was prepared for a tablescape when Valentine's was over because some time ago I picked up these navy  napkins at the thrift store and have had this idea in my head for some time. It's a perfect everyday look with a little transition to spring. These napkins have a dainty little leaf pattern on them and go perfectly with our everyday stoneware dishes. I pulled the daisy napkin rings from my stash.  I also felt like the tablescape needed more "blue" than I first had out so I pulled these old lanterns off the bookshelf. They once belonged to my Grandmother. The mugs were a gift from my sister-in-law. I'm sure she picked up on the butterflies. They are from a set called "A Walk in the Woods." Love how it all came together, inspired by the napkins. Linking up with Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on th...

Pink and gold Valentine's tablescape

I was so excited when I finally got this together. I wasn't sure how this was going to turn out but I knew I wanted to use gold and pink just to tone things down from the red and hot pink on the mantel and entry vignette . I had this centerpiece idea as a starting point as well and wanted to make my own version.     I thought it would be neat to see "love" from both sides of the table. So I created my centerpiece that way. I repurposed some tin cans by covering them with scrapbook paper and cutting out the letters to spell LOVE in gold vinyl with my Silhouette machine. So.... one can has and "L" on one side and "E" on the other and so forth. Here's one view:     Here's the other. I filled the cans with artificial roses, lilac, and baby breath from the Dollar Tree. I didn't really have much pink for my tablescape so I had to create the pink accents. I did find some stoneware bowls with a darling flower and pi...

WIWW- Grid and bubbles

I had recently pinned this outfit from Tara at Mix and Match Fashion with my skirt in mind. I don't have any window pane pants but I do have a fushia sweater, black blazer and this skirt. I also liked the pop of blue she added, so I did the same with my bubble necklace. I recently read that bubble necklaces were out, but I've seen a few of my favorite bloggers still wearing them, and as long as I'm comfortable, I will be too. I just couldn't skip the pop of color this adds just because bubble necklaces are "out".   Blazer- Dress Barn- option option option sweater- JCPenney option option skirt- JCPenney option boots- shoes.com option Worn Feb. 5, 2014   Linking up with WIWW .

Valentine vignette

Just sharing my Valentine vignette. Some old diys, candles, and a fun printable made this quick and easy to pull together. The candles with the red filler were used at Christmas so I just put them back out as is for Valentine's Day. The framed printable is from Hoosier Homemade - thanks! On one side of the printable I used a heart plate that has previously made an appearance on the mantel . The rose ball topiaries on either side were made a few years ago. We were given this Willow Tree figurine for a wedding gift. This is the first time I've thought to incorporate it into a Valentine vignette. It usually stays out year round on the book shelf. Hope you've enjoyed this little peek at my Valentine's home decor.
