Captured Memories

It's been such a dull and gloomy day that I wanted to get my bright and vibrant Dylusions out and have a play. I introduced a few stencils using DecoArt black and white gesso and the bump technique.

Next I switched to the DecoArt chalky paint and added more black and white through stencils. I also added the words to the heart in DecoArt black modeling paste for a raised texture.

Once the modeling paste was dry the heart needed some further attention. Black smudgy pencil but it wasn't dark and bold enough, so out came the portfolio pastels and the Clarity 'inspire' stamp and I thought it was finished.

Still the heart didn't feel finished, so I added some white dots between the two heart shapes and some black scribbley lines in the gap under the word memories and also some more stamping with a hash type stamps to fill in some gaps along with a couple of the Finn stamps. Now I think it's finished.

Playing with Paint

I decided to experiment with different paints but tried to use the same colours. I chose to paint an mdf plaque and a #8 manila tag. As you can see I chose blue and orange starting with the DecoArt Multi Surface Satin paints. The blue is called true blue and the orange is 2 coats of neon with a coat of pumpkin patch over the top.

This is the DecoArt Chalky Finish Paints in Legacy which is the blue and heritage which is the orange.

And my third choice, Dylusions in London Blue and Squeezed Orange.

Here are the mdf plaques side by side in the same order as above, Multi Surface, Chalky & Dylusions.

And the tags side by side, again same order.

And then the fun began as I wanted to see how they stamped. These are the DA multi surface.

More Dina stamps with the new Finn brick wall stamped in archival on the Dylusions paints.

And finally the DecoArt Chalky Finish paints again incorporating Dina's images.

Here are all the mdf plaques lined up.

And the tags side by side, multi surface, chalky & Dylusions.

And finally the plaques with the corresponding tags underneath.

After all that I don't have a preference, they all work perfectly well on the mdf and on the manila tags and as you can see, the stamping on each turned out fine.

Next I think I need to mix the different products with each other and see how they blend together.

First Journal Page

I have again been ribbed, this time about a journal, I still don't get the point really, but anyway, under the immense pressure, I caved in. No not really, I found one for a steal of a price whilst I was on holiday and decided if it wasn't for me, it was no great loss. So anyhow, here is my first complete page.
