Finn Class - Day 1 - Altered Canvas (PM)

Next was the very large oblong canvas.  Jules getting the wrapping off hers.

Prepping the canvas ready for the tissue papers.

This one was mine.

We used icing paste through a stencil on the largest of the mdf circles.

Jules deciding which bit of the tissue paper to use.

This was a large project and we got lots and lots of embellishments to use on it.

This is everything out of the packets, there was absolutely loads to choose from.

So this is how I arranged mine on the canvas.

Next we painted everything with white gesso.  We gave it two or three coats in some places.

I added a combination of prussian blue and black, sprayed with water, twisted the canvas to move the paint around and finished off with silver metallic wax.  I didn't have a suitable image to finish it off, so I left it until I got home.

And finally a group photo, had to be inside as it was dark outside - lol.

I won a Patron prize too, I pulled out the apron.  Thanks Anna, so generous.

And this is my shopping.  It's all Dusty Attic as you can't get it anywhere else in the UK that I know of.  And, it was lovely to see it in the flesh.  Could have easily spent loads more, but thankfully I didn't!

We didn't get finished until 8pm, so straight to the restaurant to order food at last food orders were 8.30pm.  The portions were massive, I had gammon, egg, pineapple, chips and salad, was lovely.

More Goodies

I got these papers and trims from roze.co.uk.

Close up of all the wonderful trims that were half price. It was only when I posted up this photo that I noticed one was missing from the package. I ordered 9 but only 8 arrived.

Feather and elephant charms.

This is a bit thicker than tissue paper with a metallic pattern running through it.

Oriental tape.

Origami papers - lovely variety pack.

Purchases from The Works

The Works had a bit of a sale on again and I noticed they had stock of the 12 x 12 Eastern Opulence gorgeous paper pad.  It was on sale for £8 and I also had a 20% discount code, so it only cost me £6.40.  I am aware that DOCrafts / Papermania is no longer, so I grabbed another pad whilst I still could. I think The Works are moving over to Sizzix and Crafters Companion as they have new items of theirs listed.  I didn't know Sizzix did embossing powders, so I ordered three in bright colours to see what they are like. And as you can see, a few other bits fell into the basket too.

I've tried the Sizzix embossing powders and I'm not that impressed with them. I'll stick with WOW powders in future.

More Purchases

WOW - this glue is amazing when used with paper.  It doesn't wet the paper, therefore it doesn't wrinkle or buckle the paper, it dries almost instantly and once it's on, it's on.  It's the cheaper version of Beacon 3 in 1 or Fabri-tac, but having watched some comparison youtubes it's just the same and half the price.

I've been waiting quite a while for it to come back into stock and then for it to arrive, but it was well worth it.

I bought the big one as it was more cost effective and I have decanted it into a smaller manageable bottle.

I've just had a play with the stencil too, and I love it.  You actually get two stencils so you can play with two colours, it's brilliant.

Purchases from the Range

We had to have a 'necessary' visit to the Range today as the dining room handle door mechanism jammed and the door was stuck shut, so we had to go and get a new part to fix it.

I went for a wonder around the craft section and these just 'fell' into our basket. Well if we were going out, I had to make it worthwhile been has we had to queue to get in.
