 La mitad de U2, Bono y The Edge, han hecho una versión acústica del clásico de ABBA "S.O.S." en una nueva edición de "Piano Room" de la BBC Radio 2 británica.

Half of U2, Bono & The Edge, have performed an accoustic cover of ABBA's classic "S.O.S." in a new edition of British BBC Radio 2's "Piano Room".

Edge says: “We’re big fans of this Scandinavian band, appreciators of their work in a way that grew over years. We are fans of the Bee Gees which people wouldn’t have imagined. We’re fans of lots of great songwriters who aren’t necessarily seen as very hip, and I guess we’re just appreciators of their work.”

THOMAS JOHANSSON'S ROCK'N'ROLL CIRCUS

Thomas Johansson, legendario gerente de conciertos de EMA Telstar y Live Nation ha trabajado con los mayores artistas suecos e internacionales durante décadas. Nunca ha querido  escribir un libro sobre su carrera, aunque muchos, incluyendo Björn Ulvaeus, le han convencido de hacerlo. Ahora nos sorpende con un libro "Rock'n'roll circus", que ha escrito con el periodista del Expressen Mats Olsson.

El libro no es una biografía tradicional, es sobre conciertos y música. Johansson ha conservado listas de canciones de los conciertos que ha producido. Se han escogido 25 listas y Johansson y Olsson nos cuentan las historias del backstage detrás de cada una de ellas. Como cuando organizó el concierto de Roxette en Paraguay vendiendo 40.000 entradas para unas instalaciones de 30.000. Y como el Premio Nobel que Bob Dylan se negó a aceptar finalemente se le hizo llegar a él.

Thomas Johansson no ha querido escribir sobre escándalos sobre ningún artista. Como escribe Björn en el comienzo del libro, Thomas nunca hablaría de confidencias.

Thomas Johansson, legendary concert arranger at EMA Telstar and Live Nation has worked with most major Swedish and international artists for decades. He has not been willing to write a book about his career, though many, including Björn Ulvaeus, have persuaded him to do one. Now he finally surprises us with a book, Rock'n'roll circus, which he has written with Expressen's Mats Olsson.

The book is no traditional biography, it is about concerts and music. Johansson has kept set lists of the concerts he has produced. 25 set lists were chosen and Johansson and Olsson tells backstage stories behind them. Like how arranger of Roxette's Paraguay concert had sold 40.000 tickets to the arena of 30.000. And how the Nobel Prize which Bob Dylan refused to accept finally got delivered to him.

Thomas Johansson has not wanted to write any scandal book about artistes. As Björn writes in the opening words of "Rock'n'roll circus", Thomas Johansson would never take up confidental things.

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Official Singles Chart, we reveal The Official Top 20 Biggest Selling Groups Of All Time!

In just over a week we’ll be blowing out the candles on a very big birthday cake to celebrate 60th glittering years of the Official Singles Chart. To whet your appetites for the big day, we’ve already revealed the Official Top 10 biggest selling male artists and biggest selling female singles artists of all time, and to today we reveal The Official Top 20 Biggest Selling Groups Of All Time!

The Beatles top the chart with a combined singles sales total of 22.1 million singles. This makes John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr not only the biggest selling group in the history of the Official Singles Chart, but with a 400,000 lead over Elvis Presley, it also the biggest selling act of all time, too.

To date The Beatles have enjoyed 31 Top 40 hits (including 17 Official Number 1 singles). Their first hit was Love Me Do which peaked at Number 17 in 1962 (it would eventually climb up to Number 4 in 1982 after being re-issued to celebrate its 20th anniversary). The Beatles' biggest selling track, however, is their fifth single, She Loves You, which peaked at Number 1 in 1963.

The UK’s second biggest selling singles group of all time is Queen. The quartet have a combined sales total of 12.8 million singles, and their biggest selling track is of course Bohemian Rhapsody.

Taken from the band’s fourth album, 1975’s A Night At The Opera, Bohemian Rhapsody reached the top of the Official Singles Chart on November 2 of that year giving the band their first ever Number 1 single. It would occupy the top spot for nine weeks and sold over a million copies. Following the death of lead singer Freddie Mercury in November 1991, Bohemian Rhapsody would return to the top of the Official Singles Chart. In its five week stand, it sold nearly a million copies again, making it the only single to become an Official Christmas Number 1 on two separate occasions and claim the top spot in four different calendar years (1975, 1976, 1991 and 1992). The band’s Greatest Hits album is the UK’s biggest selling album of all time.

ABBA are at Number 3 with a combined sales total of 11.3 million copies. The Swedish group, who disbanded in 1982, enjoyed 25 Top 40 hits (including nine Number 1s). Their biggest selling track is 1976’s Dancing Queen.

The Top 5 is completed by The Rolling Stones (Number 4) who have a combined sales total of 10.1 million singles, and Oasis (9.079 million combined single sales) who have leapfrogged Take That (9.078 million) to take fifth place.

The Sugarbabes son el único grupo de la lista que surgió durante la última década.

Madonna was the most-played artist in the UK during the last decade. The singer topped the People's Artist Chart, a poll compiled by PPL for BBC Radio 2. The rundown - which was compiled using data from broadcast airplay and public performance in pubs, clubs, restaurants and other businesses - was revealed yesterday .The Sugarbabes were the only group in the chart who emerged during the last decade.

Promovido por George Clooney y contando con Julia Roberts, DiCaprio, DeNiro, Drew Barrimore, Reese Witherspoon, Mark Wahlberg, Jack Nicholson, entre otros, este telemaratón contó con las actuaciones de Bruce Springsteen, Bono, Madonna, Shakira, Sting, Steve Wonder, Alicia Keys, Beyoncé, Rihanna y un largo etc... para recoger donativos para las víctimas del terrible terremoto de Haiti. Descargas de las actuaciones y un disco y DVD del concierto que se editarán seguirán recaudando fondos para la causa.

Last night a benefit in favour of Haiti was held simultaneously in Los Angeles, New York & London and broadcast live by MTV, YouTube and all main American TV channels. Hosted by George Clooney and featuring Julia Roberts, DiCaprio, DeNiro, Drew Barrymore, Reese Witherspoon, Mark Wahlberg, Jack Nicholson, among others, this telethon featured performances by Vruce Springsteen, Bono, Madonna, Sting, Steve Wonder, Alicia Keys, Beyoncé, Rihanna and a long etc... to raise funds for victims of the devastating Haiti earthquake. Downloads of these performances and an upcoming record & DVD of the concert to be released will continue raising funds for the cause.

Brian Eno, quien ha sido un miembro de Roxy Music, inventor del "ambient", musa de Bowie, el cerebro de Talking Heads y el quinto miembro de U2, concedió ayer una entrevista para el preiódico inglés The Guardian, en el que, entre otras cosas, se descubrió como otro famoso fan de Abba. Incluimos extracto de su respuesta sobre Abba en inglés.

Brian Eno gave yesterday an interview to British newspaper The Guardian, where he uncovers himself as another celebrity Abba fan. We include the extract from the interview where he speaks about Abba.

BRIAN ENO: He's been a Roxy original, the inventor of 'ambient', Bowie's muse, the brain in Talking Heads and U2's 'fifth man'.

"In the 70s, no one would admit that they liked Abba. Now it's fine. It's so kitsch. Kitsch is an excuse to defend the fact that they feel a common emotion. If it is kitsch. you put a sort of frame around something – to suggest you are being ironic. Actually, you aren't. You are really enjoying it. I like Abba. I did then and I didn't admit it. The snobbery of the time wouldn't allow it. I did admit it when I heard 'Fernando'; I could not bear to keep the secret to myself anymore and also because I think there is a difference between Swedish sentimentality and LA sentimentality because the Swedish are so restrained emotionally. When they get sentimental it's rather sweet and charming. What we really got me with "Fernando" was what the lower singer was doing, I don't know her name. I spent months trying to learn that. It's so obscure what she's doing and very hard to sing. And then from being a sceptic I went over the top in the other direction. I really fell for them."

U2 (2009) El 9 de Noviembre es el 20º Aniversario de la caída del Muro de Berlín. Lo recordamos con los éxitos alemanes de aquella época y con la música con la que se ha celebrado 20 años después. A fines de los 80 sonaban grupos alemanes como Nena con "99 RED BALLOONS" ("99 globos rojos") y The Scorpions con "THE WIND OF CHANGE" ("El viento del cambio"), ambas canciones trataban temática social. En 2009 U2 ha dado un concierto en la Puerta de Brandemburgo para conmemorar el evento.

On November, 9th it's the 20th Anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. We remember it with German hits of that time and with the music which has celebrated it 20 years later. At the end of the 80s, German bands had hits, such as Nena with "99 RED BALLOONS" & The Scorpions with "THE WIND OF CHANGE", both songs dealing with social issues. In 2009, U2 gave a concert at Brandenburg Gate to celebrate the event.

Incluimos un dueto de ases irlandeses, el grupo The Corrs y Bono, líder de U2, grabaron este tema "WHEN THE STARS GO BLUE" ("Cuando las estrellas se entristecen") que se incluyó en el último álbum recopilatorio de despedida de The Corrs como uno de los temas nuevos. Incluimos la canción en distintas versiones: en vivo, dueto y solo por The Corrs y la canción original por su autor Ryan Adams, y además una versión por los cantantes noruegos Venke Knutson y Kurt Nilsen.

Enclosing a duet of some big names in Irish music, the band The Corrs & Bono, leader of U2, recorded this song "WHEN THE STARS GO BLUE" which was included in The Corrs' last farewell compilation album as one of the new songs. We include it in different versions: live, duet and only by the Corrs and the original song by its composer Ryan Adams and apart another version by Norwegian artists Venke Knutson & Kurt Nilsen.
