Harvest
Apple are plentiful this year. Every apple-tree about Moscow is heavy with fruits. Not all of them eatable, though, for wild ones are usually extremely sour. One more reason is ecology: I wouldn't risk having an apple grown in Moscow, especially next to some busy road.
Kolomenskoe park is famous for its apple gardens. If not something for my table but at least they make good pictures!

Did I tell you about national Russian entertainment called 'Cut off hot-water supply'? Well, I'll tell you now.
So every summer hot-water supply in apartment buildings is turned off for about 3 week. The exact period varies from district to district: for example, in my home it began last Tuesday and will last for 14 days only. Most households, however, don't keep a boiler of their own so whenever you need any amount of hot water you need to warm (or boil) it, then mix in some kind of tank and then use it. Forget about shower! You'll have to use a bath, that is if you've got one and had enough patience to boil necessary amount of water. Most amusing experience, I should admit.
Well, probably I should be thankful for not having to carry buckets of water from far-away well...

A promise turned to harvest
Remember I posted a photo of apple blossom in spring? Well, now it's time to post a photo of what it came to - a harvest. Of course, this is a wild tree and apples a small and sour, but aren't they beautiful?
P.S. Another version on my extension site.

Apple-tree in bloom
Did I tell you I was heavily dependent on weather conditions? Well, I'm saying it now to confirm. For some mysterious reasons clear sky and bright sunlight raise my spirits exceedingly, as grey clouds and raw air turn me into depression. But, luckily for me, the weather is perfectly fine today so nothing has spoilt my humour yet. Have a nice day, everyone!
