This week I read a tiny snippet in a magazine which I think should be repeated loudly and often. It said something like this:
"When someone criticises they are just externalising something that they feel about themselves. Someone has hurt them and it temporarily makes them feel better to say something bad about someone else." and the clincher: "Try not to take it personally"
Criticism is damaging and hurtful and I don't think any of us can easily ignore it but maybe it would help if we were able to view a criticism of us as evidence of another's pain.
To avoid criticism do nothing, say nothing, be nothing.
