Pumpkinville

Around here, there are still a zillion pumpkins on display, all different kinds. There are inflatable ones outside in the dark.
There are ones made of hay bales.
                                     There are patriotic ones.
There are tiny ones in plant hangers.
There are beautiful teal green ones.
There are ones in front of flaming bushes.
There are ones made of etched glass in store windows.

There are spooky ones with cobwebs.
There are ones with trios of scarecrows.
There are ones that are really gourds.
And we have ones hand carved with skeletons on them, in the bank.

In fact, it looks like the whole town has turned into a harvest!

“The God who gives rain in both spring and autumn and maintains the rhythm of the seasons, Who sets aside time each year for harvest and keeps everything running smoothly for us…”
Jeremiah 5

A Short Trip

Come along with me on a trip through Route 11 to pick up my glasses at Costco. We will start at the base of the mountain, where the sun is shining down on the trees. Then we will pass some pastures and see how the cows are doing now. And after driving through the countryside, we will even get to visit the suburbs for awhile. The trip is usually better than the destination.

Black Thanksgiving

This year the stores are not waiting until Friday to have all the best sales, they are starting them on Thursday.Yes, on Thanksgiving. Black Thursday. It seems to me that we have every single day to shop, so why put it on the one day that we give thanks? Can we not just have one single day of the year devoted to family, friends, and thanks? Apparently the retailers think not. A lot of the store personnel are quite upset that they have to now work on Thanksgiving. So my pictures here represent two kinds of Thanksgiving. Anne Marie's first one, she was beyond happy just to be with grandma and grandma at home and eat turkey. Here is the pretty decoration at Target this year. And for some reason the stores are putting beer six packs in the shape of big Christmas trees. What I get from this is that we should all drink beer on Christmas. For those of you who are shopping on Thursday, I hope you truly have a good time, I just feel bad for the poor clerks who have to work at the store. I guess it is a rare post that finds me griping, but I just couldn't help it. Now tell me what YOU think???

“Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And cultivate thankfulness. Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house.”
Colossians 3

Computer Gone Today

Pay Pal has told us that our computer might have a virus, so our computer guy is taking it to check it completely. SO I will be without my computer the rest of the day. I hope to get it back by the morning. But anyway, this is why I will not be able to comment or answer e-mails for the rest of the day. See you real soon!

Two Beautiful Faces

Awhile back, I showed you the Catkin that Anne Marie made from a pumpkin. So now I will show you Ella's pumpkin. When we went to get one, they had a gigantic inflated witch with a pumpkin head, and she went behind it to imitate it. She was totally enchanted by the white ones, so that is what we got. She then informed me that she did not want to carve it because scooping out the insides was slimy and stinky. So I gave her markers to draw on it. She decided to make her own smiling face! An Ella pumpkin for sure. I think white was the right choice.

“I choose the true road to Somewhere, I post your road signs at every curve and corner. I grasp and cling to whatever you tell me; God, don’t let me down! I’ll run the course you lay out for me if you’ll just show me how.”

A Massive Beauty

Thank you all so much for all your wonderful comments and e-mails! I did finally get to Costco to pick up my glasses, and this is what I saw on the way. I was feeling extremely low, but look what God gave me! I had never seen anything like it. To get an idea of how massive this was, see the little house on the lower left? It started on the ground there and spread out all over the sky, towering over us! It was then that I thought everything would be alright. and it was. The surgeon told me he would not operate, it was way too risky and I could end up in even worse shape. An answer to prayer for sure. I have much to be thankful for on Thanksgiving and every day!

O Lord, Ready to put your beauty on display, parading your greatness, And the great things you
do— God, you’re the one, there’s no one but you!
