Halloween Eve & A Ghost

I will be dividing our Halloween day post into a few days, as a lot happened. Here are some things we saw while driving today. I thought this Trick-Or-treat setup was cool. Social distancing candy!

We passed the new Catholic church. In the dusk, it looked Medieval. Do you see this figure on the right? No one was there. A ghost, perhaps?

Then we happened to pass that new beer restaurant that I have posted in the past.

What's this? I could hardly believe my eyes!

Yes, it was a bunch of Santas and elves!

There was a big sign saying they were having some kind of Halloween party. Looks like the waiters were all dressed in Christmas outfits, and playing cornhole outside. Well, I had rarely seen something this strange. But, bidding the Halloween Santas farewell,  we had to get on with our journey. To be continued....

I bet living in a nudist colony takes all the fun out of Halloween.

Haunted

This is the most haunted house in town. I call it the Psycho House.

Right now, it sports a graveyard in the front yard. But that is not what it is known for.

It is known for it's large family of ghosts. Try as they might, they cannot escape the power of the house.

They are tortured souls, who only show themselves once a year.

Wait! Did you see someone watching us from the window?  Time to hurry home before it gets dark.

I think in a lot of cases, ghosts are history demanding to be remembered.

 ~Jeff Belanger

Yesterday, upon the stair,
      I met a man who wasn't there.
      He wasn't there again today,
      I wish, I wish he'd go away.
When I came home last night at three,
      The man was waiting there for me
      But when I looked around the hall,
      I couldn't see him there at all!

The Black Cat

 Look who crossed our path the other day! How suitable for the season! I was glad to see that he is apparently not a stray, as he had a collar and was quite plump. Are you superstitious?

A black cat crossing your path signifies that the animal is going somewhere…

Thru The Wires Thursday

There was a low lying cloud over the top of mountains yesterday as we drove to the drug store.

And finally, here's one without the wires.

Hayrides

 There's lots of hay around here now.

I like this kind of hay.

I do NOT like this kind of hay. The kind you get stuck riding behind on the highway!

And some of it appears to be falling off because it is not secured properly. What makes you nervous about autumn?

Lost So Easily

 Today we passed this tiny little tree. I loved the brilliant leaves. In doing a bit of research, it looks just like a Yellow Birch, so that is what I am calling it, unless you know better.

Just a few minutes before spotting the little tree, I had snapped this mailbox. It has the exact same leaves on it!

Shimmering

 The fall grasses are here!

Sunday Sunset

 Come and watch the sunset with me.

The heavens declare the glory of God;
    the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;

    night after night they reveal knowledge.
They have no speech, they use no words;

    no sound is heard from them.
Yet their voice[b] goes out into all the earth,

    their words to the ends of the world.

Murder

 While watching the evening news today, they flashed on this hideous picture.

Phil said this looks like a cartoon Hornet.

It's an Asian Giant Hornet, usually referred to as a Murder Hornet. They are huge, and beside having long stingers, they can spit venom. What they are killing is honeybees. They are raiding their hives and killing them all. As if the bees don't have enough to worry about now. They just found the first Murder Hornet nest in Washington State and will be killing them tomorrow. So staying inside isn't all bad.

“Murder hornets:  because 2020 wasn't bad enough.”
