With Sympathy

Good Morning everyone

Sadly my uncle lost his fight with cancer 10 days ago, he absolutely loved getting a handmade card from me and over the last couple of years of his battle i sent him many as happy mail so i felt i really needed to make a card for each of his children (my cousins)  Ive had to make a set of 6, which is the most sympathy cards ive made in one go, 3 for me and 3 for my parents to give so they all had to be totally different too - its certainly stretched my little grey cells and a couple are based on previous designs ive made.

A6 (6x4") white linen cardbase.  I die cut the star circle direct into the card front and lined with a lilac paper insert which shows through the stars.  I die cut 3 feathers from white linen card and gently inked the edges with lilac distress ink just to help them stand out a bit from the white backgroud.  Sentiment stamped in grey onto white card strip, matted onto lilac paper which was an offcut from doing the insert.  I rounded the corners to pick up on the circle focal point

5x7" Cream leather effect cardbase, sentiment stamped in dark green.  I die cut a foliage panel from the same ivory cardstock and lightly inked with pistachio oxide ink.  Candles die cut from off cuts of ivory pearl cardstock, i coloured the flame with alcohol markers and added to the middle of my panel.  Flower die cut from soft yellow card to finish - was thinking of the primroses in flower at the moment.

6x5" Grey pearl cardstock base, i die cut a cross stitched rectangle from the same grey.  From left over inked and stenciled cardstock i die cut 3 wheat stems and 2 of the smallest cross stitched rectangle die. I stamped the sentiment with grey ink and glued the wheat stems into place. I added foam tape to the back of the panel and adhered the inked rectangles top right and bottom left just for interest and to break up all the grey.

A6 (4x6") white card base.  I embossed ivory pearl cardstock with a sunray embossed folder and added to the base card.  I die cut my dove from white cardstock and backed the cut out section with gold pearl cardstock.  I added the dove with glue gel.  I then found an ink smudge on the embossing which luckily i managed to hide by adding a little die cut branch - luckily the ink smudge was in the right place to easily cover up!   I felt this card said it all and didn't need a sentiment.

5x5" Ivory embossed base card.  Sentiment stamped in grey.  I die cut the ivy circle from card previously coloured with brusho's, i die cut the ivy circle twice more from scrap cardstock and glued them together, this gives a chipboard depth and easier than trying to stick foam pads to the back of each leaf, it also gave a nice inset for my die cut dove to sit in.  I die cut the dove twice from white card, cutting the back wing off one, i adhered them together with glue gel and added some shading with grey alcohol marker.

and finally, photo not the best as its all a soft lilac.  approx size 4x6"  I die cut my base card and smaller layer from lilac cardstock, on the smaller panel i stamped the sentiment in grey and then embossed with a swirl embossing folder.  I die cut the poppy from an off cut of previously inked with brusho & pixie powder cardstock, i added glue gel behind the flower heads and glue the stems flat to the card front.

Thank you all for stopping by once again, i really do appreciate you taking the time.

Christmas Floating Acetate card

Good Morning everyone

Some of you may remember the flower floating acetate cards i made (see here) Well i hated the mess using the cosmic shimmer aurora flakes made so i used up the whole tub at the time to save it going to the back of the cupboard and added it to double sided adhesive sheets with the idea of making Christmas versions of the cards and here they are...

6x6 acetate cardbase.   I cut the geese circle die from white linen cardstock & then die cut my aurora flakes background into a circle the same size, i attached the geese to the background and added this to the middle of my acetate front.  So that its all neat and tidy i added white die cut circles to the inside front & back and the outside back of the card so they all hide any glue and somewhere to write the greeting.

I die cut a poinsettia from white vellum and foliage from silver mirror card which picks up on the silver in the background.  A bluey/greeny dazzle gem added to the middle of the poinsettia and computer printed sentiment to finish.

Showing front on, you can really see the floating effect of the topper here

The flakes are amazingly shimmery which is very hard to pick up in the photos

and version 2

5x5 acetate base.  Dove scene cut in white and a smaller vellum poinsettia and foliage

This shows the background a bit better

Christmas Dove

Good Morning everyone, i hope you had a good weekend.  I can't believe we are into December now.  Time to start advent.

Today im sharing the Christmas card ive made for my parents, its using mirror card so getting a decent photo in this dark weather wasn't happening.  Ive used silver mirror card that i coloured with shades of green alcohol inks so it has a lovely mottled effect, a great technique that really livens up simple mirror card.

6x6 white cardbase.  I cut a piece of my green inked mirror card  smaller than the card front and mounted onto a very very dark green (looks black in photo) and then onto the card front.  I cut a piece of white card small again and die cut a circle out of the middle, i then multiple stamped merry christmas in grey ink, then added this to the front with foam tape to add dimension.

I die cut my dove circle from white, dark green and my green mirror cards.  I cut the dove out of the white one and coloured it with blue grey alcohol markers to give it a bit of shading.  I added the dark green one as a drop shadow behind my green mirror card one. I die cut a white circle bigger than my topper and attached my dove circle to it, i then added this to the middle of the card base.  I then gently curved  my white dove and added with glue gel. Red glitter dots to finish.

This one shows the mirror card a bit better but in real life it really shimmers in the light and you can see the variation in the greens.

Christmas Doves

Good Morning all.

Well today im sharing a set of CAS Christmas cards, these are flat and A6 size.  The star wreath shape is cut into the cardfront and i added a bright insert to shine through and give the effect of stars, so I went with orange and yellow - yes unusual Christmas colours but you know me.

A6 white linen cardblank.  I cut the star wreath die into the cardfront.  I cut a circle frame from black to frame the stars and glued to the front.  I then stamped a little dove stamp onto white card, cut into a circle and mounted onto a larger black circle and then added in the middle of the stars on foam.

The stars are only a frame so its solid in the middle, ideal for adding a little image or sentiment.  I found this little dove stamp on a set of stamps that came with a magazine years ago.  I lightly added some grey maker around the dove to help him stand out.

Computer printed sentiment, cut into a strip and mounted onto black card. I then added an insert from orange paper.

This image shows the card stood up and the effect of the light shining through the orange insert to give the look of stars.

Exactly the same details just with a yellow insert.

Again showing how the light shines through.  Simple but effective.

Items Used:
Star circle wreath die - unbranded
Dove stamp - old Magazine freebie
CraftUk ltd white linen card
