Do You Feel Lucky?

 Hi Everyone

I am sharing another post using Kate Cranes fabulous 'Funky Ducks' stamps I just can't stop playing with these, I love it when you buy something and your mojo is bursting with idea's (I still have more in my head lol). 

As you can see I've turned one of the ducks into a punk adorning him with a fabulous mohican hair style and used the quote that everyone thinks was in the film Dirty Harry, which in fact it wasn't and is probably one of the most misquoted lines, but i've gone with it as everyone thinks it was lol.

The duck I have dressed by paper piecing him from magazine pages to give him more of a punk vibe. He is featured on a 4" x 8.5" MDF tag (That's Crafty). The tag was covered with words that I cut from magazines, once the tag was covered I added a light layer of gesso. I then smeared on red, blue, yellow & black paint. A little bit of stencilling using Kate Cranes Fiesta stencil and the addition of some torn book page and selection of washi tapes. I added the graffiti words of 'Anarchy Rules' to punk it up a bit more! Text was made on my PC and added.

I Said Duck!!

 Hi Everyone

As a lover of all things Kate Crane I have got my hands on her wonderful new releases for Carabelle Studio and this latest launch doesn't disappoint! 

This piece uses the Adorable 'Funky Ducks' and the background uses Kates Texture Plate 'Flowers & Leaves' along with one of the Mandala Coasters from the 'Mandala Medley' set.

Aren't those ducks fabulous, I stamped them 3 times coloured (coloured pencils) and cut them out and positioned them all in their ducking poses. They do actually curl around and stand proud from the piece so that they actually look like they are bending, sadly the photo doesn't show that. The 2nd design of duck was coloured also with pencils. They have been grounded onto the piece using torn washi tape.

The background has had detail added using the texture plates as stamps but brayering paint onto them and adding random detail to the background. A little bit of mark making with paint adds some further details.

I have created this piece on a That's Crafty 8" x 8" MDF panel and the paints are all my new favourite Rich Chalk Paints also available from That's Crafty.

Still Got The Sewing Machine Out

Hi Everyone

and I hope that you are all keeping well. This lockdown is a funny thing and they always say something good can come from something bad. Now don't get me wrong I wouldn't wish this current situation but we are where we are and it's about making the best of it whilst we stay safe. 

The lane where I live has become a much closer community we get involved in 4 keep fit sessions a week,  run by one of my neighbours,  all out in the lane, socially distanced which has meant we have all got to know each other that much better, infact I would say we are all now friends. There is a group of us now also with a diet group, the 2 groups are known as Fat Club and Fit Club with Whatsapp groups for each. Now that wouldn't have happened without this situation. The other thing that wouldn't have happened is that I have not only got my sewing machine out, I've kept it out and have got quite engrossed in sewing which is a nice change from all my mixed media makes. 

I have got caught up with the 'Faux Chenille' technique and made a couple of cushions using the technique. It's been a bit of a learning curve with learning about bias, straight of the grain etc but it's been really good fun and I have been quite pleased with the results. 

So I thought I'd share my recent makes.

The effect is all about layers of fabric, lots of stitched rows (on the bias) and then slashed to reveal the layers underneath. It all goes in the washing machine and dryer which fluffs it up and it creates a lovely effect. I used layers of graduated rainbow fabric on this one and I love how the colour changes throughout.

next was to try it on a patterned fabric again with layers of multi coloured fabric underneath and made as above

It creates a brilliant effect don't you think. 

Right back to the sewing machine as I am still making cushions and trying some different chenille effects, I'll share if they work out lol

An Exciting Day

Today is an exciting day for me today as it sees the launch of my own range of background papers created for That's Crafty. The papers will feature on Hochanda tonight as That's Craft launch a fabulous mixed media One Day Special (papers aren't in the one day special) starting at 6pm tonight. I am over on That's Crafty blog sharing the samples I made, using some of these papers on a project that features in the upcoming shows.

Getting the Sewing Machine Out

Day 30

Hi Everyone

Hope that you are all ok. Over here in the UK I read today that we are on our 30th day of the current lockdown which prompted me to record that in my art journal. 

This had been a part finished page in my Dylusions A5 journal for at least a couple of years but leaving just the stamped houses I totally changed the colours of the background with acrylics paints and just kept reaching for different stencils and adding to the background using several stencil techniques along with a mixture of mediums which included acrylic paints, Decoart paint misters, Dina Wakley gloss sprays and archival ink. The female image I cut from a magazine and added to the page. 

Stencils used are mostly That's Crafty Stencils but I have used AALL & Create as well. 

I seem to be getting an urge to create in my art journal prompted by the current coronavirus situation across the world I suppose because it it fuelling so many different emotions for us all for many different reasons.
