CHARLES BABBAGE
• was an English polymath.
• a mathematician, philosopher, inventor and
mechanical engineer.
• originated the concept of a digital
programmable computer.
• he is considered by some to be "
father of the computer“
• he invented the first computer in 19th century.
CHARLES BABBAGE
• Born – December 26, 1791 in
London (likely Soutwark)
• Died - October 18, 1871
(aged 79) in Marylebone,
London, UK
YEAR - 1946
• Electronic Numerical Integrator
and Computer (ENIAC). It is
considered as the worlds
first created computer that fills
a large room.
Year - 1951
• UNIVAC – Universal Automatic
Computer dedicates the first
commercially produced
electronic computer.
• It was developed by J. Presper
Eckert and John Mauchly
Year - 1953
• International Business
Machine (IBM) 650 and 700
series computer had a
memory and operating
system.
Year - 1962
• J.C.R. Licklider conceived
of an Inter-galactic
network of computers,
also known as Internet.
Year - 1984
• Steve Jobs and
Apple provided the
Macintosh computer with
its icon driven interface.
Year - 1985 - 1990
• Bill gates and
Microsoft introduced the
windows operating
system, which forever
changed desktop
computing.

LESSON
• The evolution of computer shows the
collaboration of ideas by innovative people
with a common purpose.
• Each part of the computer was a silly idea
of an individual without expecting that
when put together could do an amazing job.
