SITUATION: The owner of a soda company hired you as a business and development assistant. The
owner wants you to identify and recommend specific actions for the soda company that correspond to
the strategies in the product/market expansion grid. The owner aims to profitably grow the company in
two years, eyeing product and market expansion as the key driver for the business. Currently, it has a
small budget for marketing campaign and only launches TV ads during summer. The company currently
distributes to key cities only in the Philippines. The current product lineup includes flavors of cola,
lemon, and root beer, and is available in 330ml cans, 500ml plastic bottles, and 1.5 L plastic bottles.
The owner has varied interests such as farming, taking care of dogs and cats, and supporting animal
welfare advocacies.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD:
The learner shall be able analyze the company’s situation, markets, and
environment (the marketing audit and SWOT analysis).
