Delegation: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

Position Paper

Topic: Examination of the consequences of the proliferation of weapons and the failure to

implement disarmament agreements in the context of the Israel-Palestine conflict,

emphasizing the importance of international cooperation and compliance.

The United Kingdom stands before you today, committed to alleviating the dire

humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Recognizing the urgent need, we have significantly increased our

humanitarian aid, trebling our financial commitment with an additional £70 million for 2023-

2024, bringing our total aid to £97 million. This funding supports essential services including

food, water, and medical aid through partnerships with organizations such as the British Red

Cross, UNICEF, and the World Food Programme.

In collaboration with international partners, we have facilitated multiple aid deliveries to

Gaza. The Royal Air Force and Royal Fleet Auxiliary Ship Lyme Bay have transported over

150 tonnes of life-saving supplies, while joint efforts with Qatar and Jordan have ensured

vital aid reaches those most in need. These measures include essential food, medical supplies,

and shelter, emphasizing our commitment to immediate and effective humanitarian

assistance.
The UK is also actively working with the United Nations and other international actors to

enhance aid access. The opening of Ashdod port and the Erez checkpoint, as well as our

advocacy for humanitarian pauses and increased aid flow, reflect our determination to ensure

sustained support for Gaza's population. We urge Israel to collaborate with the UN and Egypt

to facilitate these efforts, highlighting the necessity of prolonged humanitarian pauses and

restored essential services.

Furthermore, the UK remains steadfast in its support for a two-state solution as a long-term

resolution to the Israel-Palestine conflict. Our foreign minister, David Cameron, has

reiterated this stance, emphasizing that sustainable peace can only be achieved through the

establishment of an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel. We call upon all nations,

particularly those with significant influence, to join us in promoting this solution to end the

cycle of violence and suffering.

The UK is committed to leading by example. We will continue to deliver aid, push for

increased access, and advocate for a peaceful resolution. We believe that our collective

efforts can pave the way for a more just and humane future for Gaza and its people.

The United Kingdom delegation yields the floor to the chair.
