The Arab Republic of Egypt is committed in its support of world security and peace. Egypt
is extremely worried about the worsening humanitarian crises in the region, which have led to
a large number of deaths, extensive displacement, and grave violations of international
humanitarian law and human rights, especially in light of Israel's recent military activities.
Egypt has played a pivotal role in the Middle East peace process and has a complicated
historical connection with Israel that has seen both peaceful and conflicting times.
In 1979, Egypt and Israel signed the Camp David Accords, a historic peace treaty that
normalised diplomatic ties and prevented direct military combat between the two nations.
Egypt keeps diplomatic ties with Israel and determines issues between the Jewish nation and
Palestinian parties in Gaza, frequently acting as a go-between and assistant in talks for a cease-
fire. Egypt is concerned about the potential impact of military operations on civilian
populations, advocating for global peace initiatives and humanitarian aid for affected countries
due to the actions of the Jewish nation.
Egypt, a neighbour to Israel and the Gaza Strip, faces direct implications from military actions,
including refugee flows, security concerns, and potential economic and humanitarian
crises. Public opinion demands condemnation and solidarity with Palestinians. The
government of Egypt also takes into account the possible effects of regional crises on the
country's domestic safety and security. Egypt's national security interests may be threatened by
neighbouring countries experiencing instability that is made worse by natural disasters.
Thousands of civilians, including women and children, have died as a result of the ongoing
fighting, according to current figures. More than 1.9 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are
in critical need of humanitarian aid and over 2.3 million people have been displaced, according
to the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
Egypt demands that the hostilities end immediately and that serious action be taken by the
international community to safeguard civilian lives and respect international law. We support
the following policies:
1. There has to be an unconditional, quick ceasefire to prevent further fatalities and
property damage.
2. Egypt has been advocating for long-term economic stability and emergency aid, as well
as the creation and reconstruction of infrastructure in Gaza and other impacted areas.
3. Initiating thorough inquiries and legal actions to hold all parties responsible for
transgressions of global humanitarian law and respect for human rights.
4. Resuming peace talks with the goal of reaching a fair and long-lasting settlement to
the dispute, in accordance with pertinent UN resolutions and international law.
5. Coordinating global assistance for the repair of harmed infrastructure and the financial
recovery of impacted areas.
6. Ensuring unimpeded access for humanitarian assistance agencies to deliver vital
services and relief to impacted communities is known as humanitarian access.
