Foreword
The revival of courtyards in modern
architecture is is a great step
forward towards creating homes
that are meant to last longer. The
twin courtyard residence explores
the opportunity of having not just
an aesthetic courtyard but also
a functional one. The concept of
splitting the courtyards, although
not new has been executed well. Both
courtyards serve different functions
and have a unique charm to it. The
essence of the house is the family
and the testament to how the house
is transformed into a home by the
harmonious efforts of the architect
and the client.

Project Context
The clients expressed a desire for their home to seamlessly integrate modern and tropical influences,
creating a unique fusion of architectural styles. Central to their vision was the concept of maximizing
natural light and airflow within the building, fostering a sense of openness and connection to the
surrounding environment. This emphasis on light and ventilation not only enhanced the aesthetic
appeal of the space but also promotes a comfortable and inviting atmosphere for residents and
guests alike.

Ground Floor
The ground floor layout has been meticulously crafted to ensure that every area overlooks either the
internal courtyards or the lush landscape enveloping the residence. Upon entry, guests are greeted
by a serene water feature that sets a tranquil tone for the home. Positioned opposite each other,
two courtyards seamlessly integrate the outdoors within, enhancing the sense of spaciousness
and connectivity. Complementing this design, the open-plan arrangement of the living, dining,
and kitchen areas imbues the home with a sense of airiness and expansiveness. Additionally, a
thoughtfully appointed guest bedroom on this level offers comfort and privacy for visitors, further
enriching the welcoming atmosphere of the residence.

Living Room
Nestled at the heart of the residence lies a sunken living area, surrounded by the serene embrace
of two courtyards, ensuring an everlasting glow of natural light. The living space adjacent to the
courtyard exudes warmth with its inviting palette of colors, while the elegant veneer flooring
seamlessly connects this cozy haven to the verdant expanse of the adjoining green courtyard. On the
left, the courtyard unveils a captivating skylight that bathes the space in soft, ambient light during
the latter part of the day, infusing the area with a tranquil and luminous ambiance.

Courtyard
The courtyard on the right, overlooking the road, unveils a striking L-shaped skylight, serving as
a seamless bridge between the internal and external realms. This ingenious design element invites
the ever-changing sky to become a dynamic part of the home’s atmosphere, blurring the boundaries
between inside and out. Crafted with precision, the MS framework adorned with glass panels captures
the gentle rays of the eastern sunlight, casting mesmerizing patterns upon the walls and floors, elevating
the architectural allure of the residence. During rainfall, the spectacle of water cascading down the
glass wall transforms the backdrop of the home, offering a captivating and immersive experience that
enhances the residents’ connection to the natural elements surrounding them.
