PART 1

TOPIC 1: ACCOMMODATION

1/ Do you live in a house or an apartment?

 I live in a small house in the suburbs. My parents and I have lived here for 10 years. There is a
very beautiful park near my house, and I often go for a walk there with my dog on nice days.

2/ How long have you lived in your house or apartment?

 I have lived in my house since 2013. Before that, I lived in the countryside with my
grandparents. When I was in grade 4, I moved to Ho Chi Minh City to live with my parents and go
to school here.

3/ What do you live with?

 I live with my parents. My parents often scold me, but I know they love me very much. And I
love them too.

4/ What’s your favorite room where you live?

 My favorite room is the living room. Because this is where my family and I gather together,
watch TV together or talk about everything together after a tiring day of studying and working. That
makes me feel very happy when I return home.

5/ Is there anything you don’t like about where you live?

 Yes there is. One thing that I don't like about where I live is the weather. The weather in Ho Chi
Minh City is extremely hot, especially in the summer. I would feel very uncomfortable without air
conditioning.

6/ What kind of place do you think you will live in the future?

 I think in the future I will live in the countryside. Because the air in the countryside is very fresh,
there is no noise pollution, and the people here are very friendly. Life in the countryside makes me
feel peaceful.

7/ Would you prefer to live in the city or the countryside?

 I prefer to live in the countryside than in the city. Because the air in the countryside is very fresh,

8/ Do you have a garden?

 No, I don’t. Since my house is quite small, I don't have a garden. I used to wish I had a small
garden full of flowers. I will take care of them every day.

 No, I don’t. I live with my family. I'm afraid of being alone, so I don't like living alone.

10/ Is it better to live on your own or with other people?

 I think living alone is better than living with other people. We can do whatever we like without
fear of disturbing our roommates.

 I go to school most days of the week, so my time at home is very limited. It seems that in my free
time at home, I spend most of my time in the kitchen. I cook the foods I like, learn new dishes, and
then cook. I feel so excited when I cook and enjoy delicious food.

12/ Have you ever moved house?

 I moved houses when I was 10 years old. It was the first time my family and I moved from the
room we rented into our own house. I still remember the thrill of moving into a new house. I have a
new room, a larger study corner, and more privacy.

TOPIC 2: HOBBIES AND INTERESTS

1/ Have you got any hobbies?

 Of course! I really like listening to music. Listening to music helps me relax after a stressful day
of studying, and for a moment, it also helps me forget everything that makes me sad.

2/ Are there any hobbies you used to have that you don’t do anymore?

 Yes, there are. I used to love reading books. When I was a child, I read books every day. But
then, because the price of books became more and more expensive for me and I was too busy with
my studies, I didn't read as much as before.

3/ Is there a hobby you would like to start?

 Currently, the hobby that I want to start is playing the guitar. In my opinion, girls who play guitar
are very cool . I've wanted to try it for a long time, but I haven't had a chance because I've been busy
studying. I think this summer I will start this hobby of playing guitar.

4/ What do you like to do at the weekend?

 On weekends, I like to spend time with my family. We do a lot of things together, like going
somewhere to escape the heat of Saigon, going shopping, cooking delicious meals, having family
parties, and getting together to tell stories about what happened during the week. They make me feel
so happy when I'm with my family.

5/ What do you like to do to relax?

 I like listening to music to relax. When I'm tired or stressed, I usually listen to my favorite songs
and sing along to them. It makes me feel comfortable and helps me forget about my worries for a
while.

6/ Do you like doing activities alone or with other people?

 I think I'd rather do the activities on my own than with others. I can actively plan and do
everything I want without depending on others. If I do it with other people, I think I will have to
spend a lot of time planning.

7/ How often do you do exercise?

 I think exercise is very good for health, so every day I usually spend at least an hour exercising. I
usually go jogging every morning, and after every dinner, I take my dog for a walk in the park.
Thanks to exercise, I always have enough energy for an effective study day.

8/ What are the most popular hobbies in your country?

 I think a popular hobby in Vietnam is traveling. Most people like to go to beautiful places, learn
many new cultures, discover the specialties of many regions etc. Traveling will help people feel
comfortable and peaceful after tiring days of studying and working.

9/ Do any of your friends have an interesting hobby?

 Yes, of course. It's great that I have friends who share the same interests as me, such as reading,
listening to music, and singing. We always do the things we love together, and together we develop
and improve ourselves.

10/ What do you do when you get home from your studies or work?

 When I come home, I usually do a lot of things, such as cooking dinner, playing with my sister,
and watching TV with my family. After dinner, I usually review and prepare the lesson for the next
day. Before I go to bed, I plan my day and read a few pages of a book that helps me sleep better.

11/ Are there any hobbies you wouldn’t like to do?

 The hobby I don't like but still try to practice is jogging every day. Exercise keeps me healthy but
sometimes I'm lazy.

TOPIC 3: CELEBRATIONS
1/ Do you like going to parties?

 Yes, I do. I like going to parties because of the lively atmosphere, great music, and the time I
spend with friends to strengthen our friendship. I think we are still young, and this is the right and
best time for us to enjoy life.

2/ When was the last party you went to?

 The last party I attended was about a month ago; it was my mother's birthday. All family
members gather together to send their mother the most meaningful wishes along with very special
gifts. Then we ate and sang karaoke together.

3/ What kind of things do people celebratein your country?

 In Vietnam, there are many anniversaries, such as reunification day, national day, marking the
day the country declared its independence in 1945, Tet, etc. During this time, Vietnamese people
return to their hometowns and spend several days chilling out, feasting on traditional delicacies,
visiting relatives, and generally making merry.

4/ Have you been to a wedding?

 I went to my cousin's wedding two years ago. The wedding was held in a very luxurious
restaurant, with the participation of all the families on both sides. On such days, I will dress up
beautifully and take beautiful pictures with the bride and groom to save the memories.

5/ What do you like to do at parties?

 I like doing a lot of activities at parties, such as chatting with different people, singing karaoke,
dancing, and enjoying delicious food or drinks.

6/ What was your favorite party game as a child?

 My favorite party game as a kid was hide-and-seek. I often play this game at birthday parties.
This is a very fun game; it has left me with a lot of memories. I remember when I was a kid, I was
always the best at hiding.

7/ How often do you go to a party?

 I don't often go to parties because it costs too much and not enough time for studying. Although
going to a party is fun, it will make me tired the next day.

8/ Do you like to dance when you’re at a party?

 Yes, I do. I really like dancing at the party. Everyone cheered and danced to vibrant music. This
makes me feel very relaxed. I think this is one of the funniest activities at a party.
9/ What’s the best food to serve at a celebration?

 I think the best food to serve at celebrations is french fries. Because this is a simple and easy dish
to make and cook very quickly. More specifically, most of the kids love this dish.

10/ Have you had a party in your house?

 My parents love being at home, so we often have parties at home. At the party, we'll have a
barbecue, or eat hot pot and sing karaoke.

11/ Which famous person would you most like to invite to a party?

 Son Tung M-TP (Nguyen Thanh Tung) is a Vietnamese singer and songwriter. Most of his songs
became big hits and topped Vietnamese music charts, like Making my way, "There's no one at all," I
really want to meet him at least once in life.

TOPIC 4: TRAVEL

1/ Do you like travel?

 Yes, I do. I really like to travel. I love going to beautiful places, discovering delicious food, and
learning about other cultures. I feel traveling very enjoyable.

2/ Have you ever lived in another country?

 I haven’t ever lived in another country. Because I was born and raised with my family in
Vietnam.

3/ What do you like to do on holiday?

 During holidays, I love spending time with my family on picnics or trips to the suburbs. It helps
me feel comfortable after a hard day of studying.

4/ Do you prefer lying on the beach or sightseeing?

 I prefer to go sightseeing rather than lying on the beach. because I like to explore interesting
places, see beautiful sights, and take pictures of those moments to keep memories.

5/ Which country would you most like to visit?

 The country that I want to visit the most is Japan. Because Japan is a very beautiful place, life
here is very convenient and modern. It also has a very diverse culture and extremely friendly people.

6/ Do you have many tourists where you live?

 Yes, Where I live, there are a lot of tourists. because Ho Chi Minh City is the biggest tourist
center in Vietnam. This place has many beautiful scenes and long-standing historical sites such as
the Independence Palace, the city post office, Ben Thanh market, etc. In addition, there is a wide
variety of dishes here, and the people are also extremely friendly. These things have attracted
tourists to Ho Chi Minh City.

7/ What’s the most interesting place you’re ever visited?

 I have visited many places. But Ha Long Bay is the most interesting place I have ever visited.
This is a very beautiful place, and I was attracted by its great beauty. In addition, the people here are

 My favorite way to travel is by train. I love the feeling of being able to sit back and relax while
watching the scenery pass by. It's a great way to take in all the sights without having to worry about
traffic or other distractions. In addition, it's usually more comfortable than flying or driving long
distances, so I can get some rest during my journey as well!

TOPIC 5: STUDYING

1/ Do you enjoy studying English?

 Yes, I really like learning English. I usually study English for 1 hour a day. Learning English can
help me have many opportunities in job search after graduating from university.

2/ Have you got a favourite room to study in at home?

 Yes, my room is the only place where I feel free and comfortable to relax after a tiring day of
studying and it is also my favorite place to study. My room has a simple design and everything
looks neat and clear. There are a lot of books there. And I like the computer in my room the most
because it helps me a lot with my studies.

3/ What time of day is your best time for studying?

 People often say the best time to study is in the morning, but for me, the best time to study is
from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.At that time, I felt that I had a lot of energy to complete the lesson in the best
way and could remember many things.

4/ Do you like to study online?

 No, I don't like online learning. because online learning is very difficult to understand and
harmful to our eyes when we have to focus on looking at the laptop screen for too long all day.

5/ What are the advantages and disadvantages of studying online?

 I think the advantages of online learning are that we don't have to spend time going to school,
and we can listen to the lecture again anytime by recording the screen. However, online learning
also has disadvantages, such as the fact that teachers cannot interact directly with students, which
adversely affects their eyes because they have to look at computers all day.

6/ What do you find most difficult about studying?

 There will be many difficulties in learning. Self-study is essential if I want to study well, but it is
the biggest obstacle for me. I am easily distracted by things that are more fun than self-study, such
as going out with friends or surfing social networks; sometimes I can't focus on self-study. They
made my self-study ineffective and time-consuming. I think I need to be more disciplined with
myself in order for my self-study to be effective and to improve my academic performance.

7/ How often do you study English every week?

 I study English every day of the week. For me English is a difficult and important language. In
addition to studying English at school, I also self-study at home to improve my English level. Not
only that, when I have free time, I will find entertaining videos in English, listen to music, and
watch movies to make learning this language more interesting.

8/ Have you studied English in a class?

 Of course! I have been studying English at school for the past 18 years and am now studying it at
university. I feel great because the teacher can guide me through the questions I still have while
studying at home. They also have methods that make it easier for me to understand the lesson. And
from my many years of experience with English, teachers have shown me things that are difficult
for a student to learn at home.

9/ Have you tired studying with other people?

 I don't get tired of studying with others. I think studying with other people is very fun; we can
exchange lessons with each other and support each other when there is a part of knowledge we do
not understand.

10/ Do you prefer studying alone or with other people?

 I like to study with others. because when we study together, I can get support from my friends
when I have difficulties. We can help each other. I will remember the knowledge better when I teach
my friend again.

11/ Which area of English do you find most difficult?

 The English listening part is the part I find the most difficult. Because my listening skills are very
bad, I can't fully understand the speaker's meaning if they speak too fast. I think I need to practice a
lot to improve my hearing.

12/ Is the internet always useful for studying?

 I think the internet is very useful for learning. But not always; sometimes we will lose focusning.
But not always; sometimes we will lose focus by social networks like Facebook, Instagram,
TikTok,... When we use the internet properly, it is very helpful for learning, but if we use it wrong,
the internet will make our learning less effective.

13/ Is there a subject you would like to study?

 I want to study vocal music. I am a person who loves music very much. I am passionate about
singing, but because I have not learned about music, I cannot sing high notes, so I want to learn
vocals to improve my voice.

PART 2
Pic 1: In the picture, I can see there are quite a few people. They are at the park. Most of the people

Pic 2: In the picture, there are quite a few people; there are three men and six women. I think they
are studying together in a group room. Most people wear school clothes that look very comfortable.
I guess the man in the orange shirt sitting in the middle is the leader. It looks like he's teaching
everyone a lesson. Most of the people are very serious and listen attentively to his teaching. On the
table were two laptops, two black phones, and many of their books. Also, at the back of the picture,
looking from right to left, I see a map hanging on the wall, a blackboard, and a shelf with lots of

books.

Pic 3: There are four people in the picture. I guess they are couples. They are watching a movie at
the cinema. The man in the front row was wearing a gray shirt, cardigan, and jeans. The woman
next to her is wearing a white sweatshirts and jeans. All four of them were wearing glasses, as if
they were watching a 3D movie. I guess it was a comedy because I saw the couples laughing so
hard; it seemed like they were enjoying the movie. There was a box of popcorn on the man's lap and
two Cokes on the chair.

Pic 4: There are four people in the picture. It looks like this is a meeting of a group of friends at a
coffee shop. The man sitting in the left corner of the picture is wearing a light blue shirt, and next to
him is a woman wearing a V-neck shirt. And the woman in the middle of the picture is wearing a
jean jacket. and the other man is wearing a red plaid shirt. They were sitting around a table facing
each other, with several cups of coffee on the table. I can see the girl's face in the middle of the
picture looking very depressed; it seems that she is bored because the other three of her friends are
all using their phones. I guess she's feeling lonely, left out of the conversation because of her
mindless groups of friends where people don't talk and interact with each other.

Pic 5: There are four people in the picture. It seems that they are a family with grandparents, parents
and two children. I see in the back there are many pots and plates, I think they are in the kitchen.
Grandma is holding a huge roast chicken. It seems that everyone is very surprised and excited with
it. On the table, I guess there are some bread, salad and tomatoes, many glasses and dishes prepared
for the meal. They are smiling and talking happily. It makes me think of the atmosphere as peaceful
and happy.

Pic 8: I see quite a few people in the picture. It looks like this is a classroom with students and
teachers. The woman next to the third table, wearing a red shirt, could be the teacher. I guess she
was pointing out the girl's mistake and dedicatedly guiding the students to correct it. The students
are wearing clothes of different colors, and they are concentrating on their exercise. However, there
was a male student in a dark blue shirt behind the teacher who was distracted and was looking at
her. At the back of the classroom, there are a few empty tables. The atmosphere in the classroom is
serious and quiet.

Pic 9: I see quite a few people in the picture. I think they're at the park. There was a man wearing a
white t-shirt and brown trousers. He is concentrating on playing the violin like he is a violinist. In
front of him was a music stand for the convenience of playing the violin. Behind him was a woman
walking, and the others were sitting on chairs, chatting and relaxing. There are lampposts and lots of

their free time under this beautiful sun. In the distance, there was a group of people lined up in front
of a building; I guess it was a museum, and they were waiting to get in. It seems that the photo was

Pic 10: There are nine people in the picture. My guess is that they're at a resort. The man standing
by the pool is wearing a white t-shirt and patterned blue shorts. To his left were eight people sitting
and chatting beside the tree. The surrounding scenery is quite deserted, and there are many trees. I
guess this area has many mountains and forests. And there is a trail leading to this resort. It looks
like the picture was taken in the late afternoon; the weather seems sunny and dry. They seem to be
enjoying their summer vacation.

Pic 11: There are three people in the picture: a woman and two children. I think they are a family. It
looked like they were sitting on a sofa in the living room. The mother is holding her baby boy, who
is wearing a black top and jeans. Baby boy is wearing baby clothes and a little girl is holding an
iPad who is wearing a white shirt, jeans, and socks could be his sisters. It seems that the little girl is
watching something on the iPad and telling her mother about it. The mother looks very happy,

see sunlight coming in through the window.

guess they were having dinner together in a restaurant. The man on the left of the photo is wearing a

Pic 17: There are quite a few people in the picture. I guess they're on the plane. The girl in the blue
shirt is the flight attendant who is serving the female guest sitting on the left in the first row. Next to
the girl was a family of parents and their son; it looked like they were going on a trip. In the lower
row, there were two grandparents chatting happily with each other. Beside them was a man who was
sitting alone. There are two blue curtains at the bottom of the photo, and in the right corner of the
photo there is an empty chair.
Pic 18: In the picture there are 3 people, there is a woman and two children. I think they are a
family, the woman is the mother, the two children are her daughter and son and they are in the living

PART 3:

TEST 1: IMPROVING YOUR HEALTH

A: Let’s talk about some activities we could do to improve health. Shall we start with rock
climbing?

B: I don’t think it’s a good idea. Rock climbing is very dangerous and there are some people
might not be fit enough to do it. How about going to the gym?
A: Good point. People can go to the gym together, meet new people and get fit together. Now
let’s talk about another one. What do you think about swimming?

B: I think swimming is good exercise but it will be very boring because everyone is just
hanging around in the pool. Would playing basketball be a better idea?

A: I’m not sure about that one. I think there are some girls who will feel shy when playing
basketball. What about cooking? We can learn new skill, about new food and cook healthy
food.

B: I think cooking is not a good idea. Because people will have to spend a large amount of
money to buy ingredients. I think walking the dog is a better idea.

A: Do you think it’s a suitable activity? I feel that walking the dog does not help people improve
their health effectively. How about dancing?

B: Dancing is so fun and relaxing but people can get exhausted and lose energy if they don't
have the right time to practice and dance too hard. After all, I still think going to the gym is the
best choice.

A: So do I. Let’s go for that.

TEST 2: A DAY IN THE CITY

A: Let’s talk about some activities we could do to show your friend around the city. Shall we start
with visiting a museum?

B: I don’t think it’s a good idea. Museum tickets can be very expensive and young people can
easily get bored. How about being at an art gallery?

A: I don’t agree with you. Because your friend may not be interested in art. What about eating
at a restaurant? We can have a chat and relax.
B: I think the food at the restaurant is not good and very expensive. Would visiting a zoo be a
better idea?

A: That’s a good idea. We can see a lot of different animals we don’t normally see, and we can
learn about animal. Now let’s talk about another one. What do you think about watching a play at
the theatre? We can watch an interesting play to relax.

B: I think watching a play at the theatre is not a good idea. I think not everyone likes theater, a
long play will easily get boring if the viewers don't like the play. I think shoping at a shoping
centre is a better idea. We can buy new clothes, presents and souvenirs.

A: Do you think it’s a suitable activity? I feel shopping is quite a popular activity and it's

we can do all activities at the park. But if the weather is bad we won't be able to do anything.
Would club be a better idea? Wea can meet new people, listen to music. It is so fun.

A: I don’t agree with you. Drinks at the club are very expensive, I think there are some people
who don't like loud music and don't like dancing. It would be boring without friends to go
with. What about library? We can do homework and borrow books for free.

B: I think people will not be interested in reading books. We have learned too much at school
and we need to relax, the library is pretty quiet and nothing interesting. I think internet or
game coffee is a better idea. It is useful for doing serearch and we can play games together.

A: Do you think it’s a suitable activity? Our eyes will get worse if we spend too much time on the
computer. How about swimming pool? It keep you fit and enjoy fresh air.

B: If the weather is bad we won't be able to swim and it's boring to just swim up and down in

B: I don’t think it’s a good idea. It will take a lot of time to wait for things to grow and it does
not bring quick results. How about cycling? Cycling is no pollution and cheap. We can cycle
almost anywhere.
A: I don’t agree with you. There are some people who do not have bicycles and it will be
difficult to go to far places by bicycle. When the weather is bad we can be in danger. What
about planting tress? It helps the environment is better.

B: That’s a good idea. Trees will create cleaner air, provide oxygen to humans and animals, and
reduce global warming. Now let’s talk about another one. What do you think about cleaning the
park?

A: I think cleaning the park is not a good idea. Because we won't be able to clean up if the
weather is bad. Some people will find it uninteresting if they have to clean regularly. I think
recycling is a better idea. It will reduce pollution.

B: Do you think it’s a suitable activity? There are people who have no interest or do not know
how to recycle. Sometimes they will get annoyed and give up. How about cleaning the beach?
We can protect the environment on the beach and in the sea.

A: That’s a good idea. But we are not near the sea so we need transportation and have to carry
a lot of bulky items. That is very inconvenient. After all, I still think planting tress is the best
choice.

cry without their parents. I think pizza delivery person is a better idea. I can get tips and get

deliver late. It will be very difficult to find the right hourse. How about dog walker? You can

they coud go to a theme park in any city, it’s not unique in London. How about going to
restaurant? Fish and chips are traditional, they’re very nice to eat, very tasty and
specially not too expensive.

A: I don’t agree with you. There are some people don’t like fish, it’s not a healthy food
and the menu is limited for vegetarians. What about sightseeing? It has lots to see and
do.

B: That’s a good idea. People can visit famous place, get to know London and guided
tour. Now let’s talk about another one. What do you think about bus tour ?

A: In my opinion, a bus tour is an easy way to see lots of places, it isn’t too expensive
and tiring, we can get a good view on top of bus and sit downstairs even though bad
weather. What are your thoughts about the bus tour?

B: I’m not keen on bus tour. People will see things very quickly, no time at each place,
get stuck in traffic and buses very crowded. I suggest that we should go to art galleries.
There’re many interesting exhibitions and permanent collections. It’s still good in bad
weather.

A: I think art gallery is not a good idea. Because some people maybe feel bored. It
depends on the exhibition or works of art on show. Some galleries are expensive to go
into. How about shopping?

B: Do you think it’s a suitable activity? It costs lots of money and is boring for some
people because they can shop at any time. How about museums ? We can see interesting
and unusual objects. We also can have lunch in the café and buy things in the museum
shop.

A: That’s a good idea. But the entrance fee might be expensive, it can be too noisy if large
group of you. After all, I still think sightseeing is the best choice.

PART 7: BUYING A PRESENT

A: Let’s talk about some presents we could buy for our teacher. Shall we start with
flowers? I think that beautiful. We can choose favourite colors of flowers and it’s easy

B: I don’t think it’s a good idea. It doesn’t last long. Our teacher will throw away when
they die. It’s not original idea, teacher can’t keep them forever. How about books? You
can write your name inside book or special massage and keep it forever.

A: I don’t agree with you. Teacher probably has lots of books, it’s difficult to choose right
book. What about a cup? Teacher will have one made specially and remember class
whenever have coffee.

B: That’s a good idea. She can keep it forever and we have many types to choose. Now
let’s talk about another one. What do you think about a pen ?

A: In my opinion, no one writes letters anymore. It’s not original for teacher. What are
your thoughts about cinema tickets ?

B: I’m not keen on that. Cinema tickets are a bit cheap, not personal, and the teacher
can’t go to the cinema anytime. I suggest that we should celebrate with a party. Everyone
in the class can go and talk to the teacher to say goodbye.

A: I think a party is not a good idea. Because teacher has no lasting gift to keep, difficult
to arrange and expensive to pay for everything. After all, I still think a cup is the best
choice.

B: I don’t think it’s a good idea. I see we have no chance to have a chat because the music
is too loud, sometimes expensive, not everyone likes disco music. How about going to
cinema? We can do whatever the weather, not too expensive.

A: I don’t agree with you. We still have no chance to talk to each other, we can always go
to the cinema so not special, it’s only for a couple of hours. I suggest we should spend a
day on the beach. People can do lots of different things.

B: That’s a good idea. They can play games, have a picnic, get a suntan and relax with

A: In my opinion, theme park is expensive to pay for rides, people only go on a few,
some people scared of them, too crowded and food is not very good quality. What are
your thoughts about a meal out in a restaurant?

B: I’m not keen on that. It’s too expensive and can be too noisy. The sort of place you go
to with your parents for a special occasion rather than with teenage friends. I suggest
that we should go to the music festival. There’re lots of different bands or singers so
something for everyone, dancing, singing, drinking and eating.

A: I think music festival is not a good idea. Because it’s expensive and needs good
weather, is too noisy to talk with friends. How about seeing a comedian?
