Special requirements PARTICIPANTS MUST ARRIVE TO US ON 5/16. Schedule is 5/16: Arrival to Norfolk,
Transfer to Elizabeth City. 5/17: Orientation, Social Security Office Visit, Transport to
Housing.
Participants will be required to handle all types of food in various roles. Please be sure
you have no allergies or restrictions that will prevent you from handling seafood, meat
(pork), dairy, produce, etc and thus prevent you from doing your job.
Second jobs may not interfere in any way with their job at Food Lion. Employer will not
accommodate a second job's schedule. Finding a second job is not guaranteed.
Couples will be scheduled as individuals based on store's staffing needs and cannot
accommodate schedule requests to work together.
All participants are hired in as Supermarket Associate Positions. Specific position in the
supermarket will be determined during Orientation with Store Manager. Positions will
be mutually agreed upon for best fit for participant. Once a position has been assigned,
participants will be expected to work in their assigned department for the duration of
their program. Positions and role requirements are not gender specific. All positions will
be expected to assist in maintaining store cleanliness and thus may be required to use
cleaning chemicals. This may include cleaning bathrooms, mopping floors, and other
general sanitary needs. Participants should be prepared to work outside in all weather
conditions.
All positions will require standing for the entire duration of the shift.
All Associates must provide quality customer service to customers, engage and interact
with customers to create a positive shopping experience. Understand and adhere to
Food Safety guidelines and procedures, adhere to all company guidelines, policies and
procedures. The attached descriptions are general summaries and may not
encompass all responsibilities; duties may change as instructed by management. Must
meet productivity standards established by Food Lion.
Work schedule Schedules are given each week and will vary. Shifts are typically 8 hours anytime
Shifts may vary; Hours may be reduced depending on business between the hours of 4am-1am. Set shifts are not guaranteed and may not be given to

Overtime wage (if applicable) Yes - $22.50 - Overtime may be offered but NOT GUARANTEED
Required skills Participants are required to take a 30 minute unpaid meal break for shifts exceeding 5
hours. In addition, participants are required to take a paid 10 minute rest break. All
breaks require participants to clock in and clock out according to Food Lion policy. In
addition, all times for breaks/lunches are determined by the Manager on duty.
May need to lift anywhere from 10 lbs - 70 lbs. Participants will need to walk and stand
for long periods of time and may be required to wear a wireless communicator.
Ability to read, write (in English) and perform basic math functions, communicate with
the customers, meet production standards established by Food Lion. Ability to reach,
bend, stoop, and lift as noted above.
Must be friendly and respectful towards supervisors (male and female), coworkers,
customers, and other program participants.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Grooming
Grooming standards Clean, neat, and professional appearance. One facial piercing is permitted in addition
to ear piercings. No facial tattoos allowed. Extreme hair colors are not permitted. Must
wear deodorant and bathe regularly. Tattoos cannot be considered offensive and
cannot cover 50% of a specific body part (ex: arm, leg)
Dress code Two uniform shirts (long sleeve or short sleeve)will be provided, and additional shirts
can be purchased through manager. Prices vary depending on location.
Before you receive your uniform shirt, please wear a solid white collared shirt
(purchased at local clothing stores-prices will vary depending on where you purchase
from) or bring one with you. Shirts need to be tucked in. Participants must provide
professional black colored pants. NO jeans, leggings, spandex, or sweatpants. Please

and is provided by Food Lion. Should a participant want to wear a back brace or knee
pads to perform job duties, participant will be responsible for providing their own.
Reflective vests (also provided by Food Lion) must be worn when walking or biking
to/from work and retrieving carts from parking lot.
Participants working in freezers and coolers may purchase and wear gloves and
jackets while performing job duties.
Participants will be required to wear their Food Lion uniform shirt (short sleeve or long
sleeve) or Food Lion branded outerwear at all times while working on the sales floor.
AAG requires participants to wear a helmet and safety vest while biking. In addition,
you are required to have working lights and reflectors on your bike.
Cost to Exchange Visitor Varies depending on where required uniform items purchased.
Screening
Description of drug screening policy Employees may be tested if there is a reasonable cause. If participant fails drug test at
any time, participant may be immediately fired.
Payment
Description Participants are eligible to receive a $300 bonus upon completion of the program. All
participants MUST fulfill all company policies and procedures that are mentioned in the
Food Lion Guidelines as well as ALL information provided to them during their initial
training orientation.
Participants must submit their valid social security number, ARE EXPECTED TO
START EMPLOYMENT ON START DATE AND WORK THROUGH PROGRAM END
DATE LISTED ON DS-2019, and have completed their job agreement duration in good
standing to be eligible for their bonus.
Participants that do not provide a SSN may not receive their end of season bonus.
There are no partial Bonuses - ALL OR NONE. Bonuses are paid at the discretion of
Food Lion. Bonus checks will be cut in late October. For participants not enrolled in
Direct Deposit, bonus check will be mailed to AAG and then forwarded to home country
agencies. This process can take up to 90 days from when cut.
Upon request and completion of program in good standing, sponsor may award a
Certificate of Completion of Program and any other training certifications.
Training / Orientation
Description All participants MUST be present for Orientation on 5/17. Orientation will be held at the
following location Quality Inn 522 South Hughes Blvd Elizabeth City, NC 27909. Please
see arrival information section in this job offer for specific instructions on getting to
Elizabeth City. After the orientation, the Food Lion team will be transporting participants
to the Social Security Office and then to their housing. The cost to stay at Quality Inn is
included in your airport transportation fee (will stay 1 night). There will be 2 participants
per room, so you will be sharing a room with one other person of the same gender.
Payment will be made to AAG prior to arrival. Participants must report to work on their
agreed upon start date in order to be trained.

HOUSING INFORMATION
If company provided housing or temporary housing is not offered, Exchange Visitors will need to secure housing after they have accepted the job
offer.

Description Host Company is responsible for locating, vetting, and securing a safe and affordable
housing option for participants by assigning and mandating a specific housing facility.
Rental payments will be automatically deducted by host company from participants
paycheck on a bi-weekly basis. This amount will be $150 per week regardless of hours
worked, and the amount is subject to change. There is a $25 non-refundable
administration fee paid to AAG and a $200 Deposit collected by AAG prior to arrival.

Additional comments Housing facilities, amenities and locations will vary and may include houses,
apartments, motels, mobile units, or condos. All housing will be furnished. Participants
are assigned to specific housing addresses UPON ARRIVAL and will sign a lease for
their unit. Roommate requests will attempt to be honored but cannot be guaranteed.
Units may be co-ed, but room assignments will be made based on gender
identification.

Section 5
ARRIVAL INSTRUCTIONS
Alliance Abroad provides Orientation to all Exchange Visitors either in the Exchange Visitors home country or in the United States. If Exchange
Visitors attend Orientation in their home country, they will travel directly to the Host Entity upon arrival. If Exchange Visitors attend Orientation in
the U.S., they will travel to the Host Entity after Orientation is completed.
General arrival instructions 5/17: Food Lion Orientation, AAG Orientation, Social Security Office Visit, Transport to
Housing
Cost of hotel is included in airport transportation pick up fee and must be paid prior to
arrival. 2 participants per room (same gender). AAG will reserve a room for participants
for arrival on 5/16.
If you arrive before 5/16, we recommend you stay at a hotel that is close to the airport
at your own expense:
On 5/17, Food Lion and AAG will hold an orientation at 8:00am in the Conference
Room next to the lobby. Participant should arrive to orientation 10 minutes before 8
a.m. and should dress comfortably and casually.
Food Lion will then transport all students to the Social Security office and then housing
locations with no cost to participant.
*Transportation fees and hotel cost of $75.00 will be collected prior to arrival. Cost is
non-refundable should participant miss shuttle and/or orientation/arrival date.
If you miss the shuttle to Elizabeth City for any reason, detailed instructions will be
provided to you on how to get to Elizabeth City at your own expense. Costs may vary
from $200 - $400.
Upon arrival, Exchange Visitors should report Alliance Abroad Group Representative

· All purchases and/or transactions must be made on an associate’s own time: before
punching in for work, during breaks or after punching out.
· All store merchandise must be paid for prior to its use, consumption, or removal from the
sales floor. This includes coffee, newspapers, groceries and all other product intended for sale.
· Associates are prohibited from preparing, packaging, or pricing any items they intend to
purchase themselves, and all product must be selected from the sales floor. Product cannot be
held, stored, or otherwise set aside for purchase at a later date or time.
· Associates should avoid processing transactions for immediate family members and should
ask another cashier to handle these transactions.
· Associates are not permitted to make change for themselves from their cash register or
from other store funds.
· Damaged or otherwise unsalable product or store property may not be consumed or taken
by associates
· Associates cannot keep Catalina coupons that are meant for customers, if the customer does
not want them, throw them away. Associates cannot reuse coupons they received from
customers. Coupons can only be scanned once.
· Do not hand key coupons or bag refunds unless you have a coupon in hand and the
customer has a bag. If you hand key coupons or bag refunds that do not exist it is considered
theft.
All participants are hired as Supermarket Associates. Participants will be assigned a specific position during orientation
with their store manager. Participants may be assigned one of the positions below:
Sales Associate: Customer checkout at the cash register, scan all items, bag items, keep cash register area clean and
tidy, gather carts and remove trash from carts, must be familiar with American currency, must be able to lift 10 lbs.
Produce Associate: Help restock and label fresh produce items, work in coolers for extended periods of time, wash
produce items, must be able to lift up to 60 lbs.
Deli Bakery Associate: Work with bulk meat and cheese utilizing a slicer, make sandwiches, subs, cakes, parfaits and fry
chicken, sell deli products, package meat and products, help clean deli area. Will be working in coolers and freezers,
must be able to lift 60 lbs.
Meat and Seafood Associate: Wrap, weigh, and stock fresh meat cases with seafood and meat (including pork).
Operate, clean, and maintain wrapping stations and scales. Ensure proper rotation of product, stock lunchmeat and
freezer cases and empty cartons in a grocery stock cart. Tear cartons down and place them on the top shelf of the cart.
Will be working in freezers and coolers for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 60lbs.
Grocery Associate: Rotate product in accordance with Food Lion/Hannaford current stocking and conditioning policy,
maintain shelf allocations by stocking from tag to tag. Reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 70 lbs. as needed to stock
product for majority of shift, push or pull product up to 2000 lbs. using a pallet jack. May work in coolers and freezers
for extended periods of time, will handle canned meat and dairy products. Clean bathrooms and floors using a machine
and/or mopping bucket. This is a physically demanding position.
Quality Assurance Associate: Provide our customers with a clean, safe, inviting place to shop by maintaining standards
in accordance with the standard practice manual. Minimize shrink through proper utilization of standard practice.
Courteous and helpful to other associates, sweep and clean floors, weekly cleaning of produce, market, deli
departments, clean and organize the store mop room. Must be able to lift 60 lbs and push and pull up to 75 lbs on
occasion.
All positions require standing for the entirety of the shift. NO SEATED POSITIONS AVAILABLE. Participants may be
working both inside and outside of the store.
All Associates must provide quality customer service to customers, engage and interact with customers to create a
positive shopping experience. Must understand and adhere to Food Safety guidelines and procedures, adhere to all
company guidelines, policies and procedures. Must meet productivity standards established by Food Lion/Hannaford.
