EXCEPTIONS!!! Arrival is always on a Monday and the DS-2019 start date is always on
a Tuesday.

Participants will be required to handle all types of food in various roles. Please be sure
you have no allergies or restrictions that will prevent you from handling seafood, meat
(pork), dairy, produce, etc and thus prevent you from doing your job.

Second jobs may not interfere in any way with their job at Food Lion. Employer will not
accommodate a second job's schedule. Finding a second job is not guaranteed.
Couples will be scheduled as individuals based on store's staffing needs and cannot
accommodate schedule requests to work together.

Position details and description Supermarket Associate

All participants are hired in as Supermarket Associate Positions. Specific position in the
supermarket will be determined during Orientation with Store Manager. Positions will
be mutually agreed upon for best fit for participant. Once a position has been assigned,
participants will be expected to work in their assigned department for the duration of
their program. Positions and role requirements are not gender specific. All positions will
be expected to assist in maintaining store cleanliness and thus may be required to use
cleaning chemicals. This may include cleaning bathrooms, mopping floors, and other
general sanitary needs. Participants should be prepared to work outside in all weather
conditions.

All positions will require standing for the entire duration of the shift.

All Associates must provide quality customer service to customers, engage and interact
with customers to create a positive shopping experience. Understand and adhere to
Food Safety guidelines and procedures, adhere to all company guidelines, policies and
procedures. The attached descriptions are general summaries and may not
encompass all responsibilities; duties may change as instructed by management. Must
meet productivity standards established by Food Lion.

Work schedule Schedules are given each week and will vary. Shifts are typically 8 hours anytime
Shifts may vary; Hours may be reduced depending on business between the hours of 4am-1am. Set shifts are not guaranteed and may not be given to
needs, weather, economic situations, your performance, sick accommodate second jobs. Any second job must accommodate Food Lion schedule.

time and other circumstances.

Average hours per week Participants will be guaranteed 32 hours per week. Additional hours are NOT
guaranteed and participants should budget weekly expenses based on receiving 32
hours per week.

Employers must lawfully abide by their state and local minimum
wage laws for tipped and non-tipped positions. As minimum
wage increases annually, even if it is in the middle of a J-1
Summer Work Travel program, employers must follow their state
minimum wage laws and increase pay for any employees who’s
wages do not meet the new state minimum. Participants should
be compensated the higher of federal, state or local minimum
wage. If an employee’s tips combined with their hourly wage do
not meet the minimum wage requirement, the employer must
make up the difference.

Required skills Participants are required to take a 30 minute unpaid meal break for shifts exceeding 5
hours. In addition, participants are required to take a paid 10 minute rest break. All
breaks require participants to clock in and clock out according to Food Lion policy. In
addition, all times for breaks/lunches are determined by the Manager on duty.

MUST BE ABLE TO RIDE A BIKE, AS THIS WILL BE YOUR PRIMARY FORM OF


TRANSPORTATION. Please note there is NO public transportation in this area.

May need to lift anywhere from 10 lbs - 70 lbs. Participants will need to walk and stand
for long periods of time and may be required to wear a wireless communicator.

Ability to read, write (in English) and perform basic math functions, communicate with
the customers, meet production standards established by Food Lion. Ability to reach,
bend, stoop, and lift as noted above.

Must be friendly and respectful towards supervisors (male and female), coworkers,
customers, and other program participants.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Grooming

Grooming standards Clean, neat, and professional appearance. One facial piercing is permitted in addition
to ear piercings. No facial tattoos allowed. Extreme hair colors are not permitted. Must
wear deodorant and bathe regularly. Tattoos cannot be considered offensive and
cannot cover 50% of a specific body part (ex: arm, leg)

Dress code Two uniform shirts (long sleeve or short sleeve)will be provided, and additional shirts
can be purchased through manager. Prices vary depending on location.

Before you receive your uniform shirt, please wear a solid white collared shirt
(purchased at local clothing stores-prices will vary depending on where you purchase
from) or bring one with you. Shirts need to be tucked in. Participants must provide
professional black colored pants. NO jeans, leggings, spandex, or sweatpants. Please

Black comfortable, closed toe shoes required.

If participants choose to wear a belt, it must be black.

Depending on the department you work in, a hair net, and/or apron may be required,
and is provided by Food Lion. Should a participant want to wear a back brace or knee
pads to perform job duties, participant will be responsible for providing their own.
Reflective vests (also provided by Food Lion) must be worn when walking or biking
to/from work and retrieving carts from parking lot.

Participants working in freezers and coolers may purchase and wear gloves and
jackets while performing job duties.

Participants will be required to wear their Food Lion uniform shirt (short sleeve or long
sleeve) or Food Lion branded outerwear at all times while working on the sales floor.

AAG requires participants to wear a helmet and safety vest while biking. In addition,
you are required to have working lights and reflectors on your bike.

Description Participants are eligible to receive a $300 bonus upon completion of the program. All
participants MUST fulfill all company policies and procedures that are mentioned in the
Food Lion Guidelines as well as ALL information provided to them during their initial
training orientation.

Participants must submit their valid social security number, ARE EXPECTED TO
START EMPLOYMENT ON START DATE AND WORK THROUGH PROGRAM END
DATE LISTED ON DS-2019, and have completed their job agreement duration in good
standing to be eligible for their bonus.

PARTICIPANT HOUSING MUST BE IN THE SAME CONDITION AS WHEN MOVED IN


(cleaned, and no damages) in order to receive their Bonus.

Participants that do not provide a SSN may not receive their end of season bonus.

There are no partial Bonuses - ALL OR NONE. Bonuses are paid at the discretion of
Food Lion. Bonus checks will be cut in late October. For participants not enrolled in
Direct Deposit, bonus check will be mailed to AAG and then forwarded to home country
agencies. This process can take up to 90 days from when cut.

AAG strongly recommends enrolling in Direct Deposit in order to receive paycheck and
bonus in a timely manner.

Upon request and completion of program in good standing, sponsor may award a
Certificate of Completion of Program and any other training certifications.

Description Food Lion is responsible for locating, vetting, and securing a safe and affordable
housing option for participants by assigning a housing facility. The job offer is
contingent upon participant living at assigned housing facility. Participant is responsible
for signing the lease upon arrival. Cost will be $150 per participant per week and it is
payroll deducted. A security deposit will also be required. Security deposits might vary
between $250-$350, depending on housing location. Security deposits will be due upon
arrival in the U.S. or payroll deducted from the participant`s first Food Lion paycheck.
Security deposit final details will be provided 30 days prior to participant arrival.

Partners and Participants must abide by AAG Assisted Housing Addendum Document
in the Job Offer. Participant will be assigned to housing at the Food Lion orientation on
their DS-2019 start date. Housing costs, transportation, and amenities may vary among
properties. Units may be co-ed, but room assignments will be made based on gender
identification, arrival dates, and landlord requirements. Any requests for rooming
together for groups of friends are to be made 60 days prior to your DS-2019 start date
to your home country agency. Please note that there is no guarantee that your request
will be approved.

ARRIVAL INSTRUCTIONS
Alliance Abroad provides Orientation to all Exchange Visitors either in the Exchange Visitors home country or in the United States. If Exchange
Visitors attend Orientation in their home country, they will travel directly to the Host Entity upon arrival. If Exchange Visitors attend Orientation in
the U.S., they will travel to the Host Entity after Orientation is completed.

Hotel room reservations are booked for 2 participants per room (same gender). AAG
will reserve a room for you Monday-Tuesday, but you will be responsible for paying for
the room upon arrival at the hotel. AAG will only reserve a room for you if your arrival
information is updated in your AAG portal 2 weeks prior to your arrival. The cost is at
$100/per room + tax. Estimated cost per participant is between $55-$65. Cash or card
accepted. Hotel check-in is at 4:00 PM, if you arrive earlier you can wait in the lobby
until your room is ready. Late Monday arrival is allowed as well, as some flights might
have a late night arrival in Norfolk.

The hotel is in close proximity to the airport, please use one of the taxi services or
rideshare services such as Uber or Lyft.

On your DS-2019 start date, Tuesday, you will be transported from the hotel to
Elizabeth City(1h drive), where Food Lion and AAG will hold an orientation starting
8:00am at the Elizabeth City Food Lion Store, 683 S Hughes Blvd, Elizabeth City, NC
27909. Transportation details will be provided to you on Monday. Hotel departure time
will vary, but please be prepared to leave the hotel as early as 5:30 AM. Transportation
cost is between $35-$45 /person and it is Cash only. Please dress comfortably and
casually. Refreshments, snacks and lunch will be provided by Food Lion.

After the orientation is completed, Food Lion will transport all participants to their
housing locations at NO cost to the participant. Please note that housing will be
assigned at orientation.

*Please be prepared to have access to $120-$150 for lodging and transportation.


**Please do not arrive earlier than 1 day before your DS-2019 start date or after your
DS - 2019 start date.
***If you fail to follow the above mentioned instructions, detailed arrival instructions will
be provided to you on how to get to Elizabeth City or Outer Banks at your own
expense.

****If you are unable to arrive on time based on your DS-2109 start date, please
contact your agency in your home country or AAG for further instructions.

POSITION DESCRIPTIONS

All participants are hired as Supermarket Associates. Participants will be assigned a specific position during orientation
with their store manager. Participants may be assigned one of the positions below:

Sales Associate: Customer checkout at the cash register, scan all items, bag items, keep cash register area clean and
tidy, gather carts and remove trash from carts, must be familiar with American currency, must be able to lift 10 lbs.

Produce Associate: Help restock and label fresh produce items, work in coolers for extended periods of time, wash
produce items, must be able to lift up to 60 lbs.

Deli Bakery Associate: Work with bulk meat and cheese utilizing a slicer, make sandwiches, subs, cakes, parfaits and fry
chicken, sell deli products, package meat and products, help clean deli area. Will be working in coolers and freezers,
must be able to lift 60 lbs.

Meat and Seafood Associate: Wrap, weigh, and stock fresh meat cases with seafood and meat (including pork).
Operate, clean, and maintain wrapping stations and scales. Ensure proper rotation of product, stock lunchmeat and
freezer cases and empty cartons in a grocery stock cart. Tear cartons down and place them on the top shelf of the cart.
Will be working in freezers and coolers for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 60lbs.

Grocery Associate: Rotate product in accordance with Food Lion/Hannaford current stocking and conditioning policy,
maintain shelf allocations by stocking from tag to tag. Reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 70 lbs. as needed to stock
product for majority of shift, push or pull product up to 2000 lbs. using a pallet jack. May work in coolers and freezers
for extended periods of time, will handle canned meat and dairy products. Clean bathrooms and floors using a machine
and/or mopping bucket. This is a physically demanding position.

Quality Assurance Associate: Provide our customers with a clean, safe, inviting place to shop by maintaining standards
in accordance with the standard practice manual. Minimize shrink through proper utilization of standard practice.
Courteous and helpful to other associates, sweep and clean floors, weekly cleaning of produce, market, deli
departments, clean and organize the store mop room. Must be able to lift 60 lbs and push and pull up to 75 lbs on
occasion.

All positions require standing for the entirety of the shift. NO SEATED POSITIONS AVAILABLE. Participants may be
working both inside and outside of the store.

All Associates must provide quality customer service to customers, engage and interact with customers to create a
positive shopping experience. Must understand and adhere to Food Safety guidelines and procedures, adhere to all
company guidelines, policies and procedures. Must meet productivity standards established by Food Lion/Hannaford.

Food Lion considers the below actions as theft and will result in termination of employment:

· All purchases and/or transactions must be made on an associate’s own time: before
punching in for work, during breaks or after punching out.

· All store merchandise must be paid for prior to its use, consumption, or removal from the
sales floor. This includes coffee, newspapers, groceries and all other product intended for sale.

· Associates are prohibited from preparing, packaging, or pricing any items they intend to
purchase themselves, and all product must be selected from the sales floor. Product cannot be
held, stored, or otherwise set aside for purchase at a later date or time.

· Associates are prohibited from ringing up purchases or processing transactions (refunds,


special orders, etc.) for themselves.

· Associates should avoid processing transactions for immediate family members and should
ask another cashier to handle these transactions.

· Associates are not permitted to make change for themselves from their cash register or
from other store funds.

· Damaged or otherwise unsalable product or store property may not be consumed or taken
by associates

· Associates cannot keep Catalina coupons that are meant for customers, if the customer does
not want them, throw them away. Associates cannot reuse coupons they received from
customers. Coupons can only be scanned once.

· Do not hand key coupons or bag refunds unless you have a coupon in hand and the
customer has a bag. If you hand key coupons or bag refunds that do not exist it is considered
theft.

· Associates cannot consume alcohol during working hours.
