Lesson Plan
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of : African
literature as a means of exploring forces that human beings
contend with; various reading styles vis-vis purposes of
reading; prosodic features that serve as carriers of meaning;
ways by which information may be organized, related, and
delivered orally; and parallel structures and cohesive devices
in presenting information.
B. Performance The learner transfers learning by: composing and delivering
Standards an informative speech based on a specific topic of interest
keeping in mind the proper and effective use of parallel
structures and cohesive devices and appropriate prosodic
features, stance and behaviour.
C. Learning EN8VC-I-a-8: Use context clues from the material viewed

A. Preparatory Prayer
Activities Checking of attendance by family, and checking of
(2 minutes) classroom cleanliness and orderliness.
1. Drill/Review Ask the students to explain how the prosodic features:
(3 minutes) volume, projection, pitch, stress, intonation, juncture,
and speech rate that serve as carriers of meaning.
Let the students explain how the production of the
correct sounds of English aid in effective
communication.
Call 3 students to read the sentences on the board one at
time observing correct stress, intonation and pause.
FAMILY
Present 4 pictures and ask the students to give a word.
Let them explain how did they arrive their answers.
Explain to them that using clues or hints is not only
applicable in games. It is also used in determining the
meaning of a difficult word in a sentence.
3. Presentation of Allow the students to go over the following objectives for
the Objectives today’s lesson.
(2 minutes) 1. Use context clues from the material viewed to determine
the meaning of unfamiliar words or expressions.
Analysis (7 minutes)
Let the students present their answers.
Let them explain how they arrived the meaning of the
unfamiliar words.
Process the students’ answer with emphasis on the
hints or clues that help understand the meaning of the
unfamiliar words.
