2.01 MATERIALS
A. Cement
Portland cement shall conform to the Standard Specifications for Portland Cement (ASTM
Designation C-150 latest revision) for type 1 Portland Cement.
B. Concrete Aggregates
1. Use well graded clean hard particles of gravel or crushed rock conforming to the
“STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR CONCRETE AGGREGATES (ASTM Designation C-33 latest
revision).
2. Maximum size of aggregate shall not be larger than 1/5 of the narrowest dimension
between sides of the forms nor larger than 20mm (3/4") of the maximum clear spacing
between reinforcing bars, and in no case larger than 38mm (1 ½”) in diameter.
C. Water
Use only water that is clean and free from injurious amounts of oil, acids, alkali organic
materials and other deleterious substances. Fit for cooking.
D. Sand
Clean river sand, free from organic and other deleterious matter. Sand from salt water is not
allowed.
E. Concrete Additives
Calcium chloride is not allowed. Secure approval of the Engineer prior to using any additive.

shall be subject to the provision under Division 3, Concrete.

2.01 MATERIALS
A. Masonry Units
4” x 8” x 16”, and 6" x 8" x 16" Concrete Hollow Block Units of standard manufacturer, machine
vibrated with even texture and well define edges, conforming to the Phil. National Standard
(PNS) 16, Type 1, Class A.
B. Mortar. See Section 0400: Mortar Part 2.

A. Furnish materials and equipment and perform labor required to complete.
Wooden framing and related rough carpentry work as indicated in the drawings and/or
specified herein.
B. Include in the works, nailing strips, scaffolding, plates, straps, joints, hangers, dowels, rough
hardware, fasteners, and other miscellaneous iron and steel items pertinent to rough
carpentry work.
C. Lumber in contact with concrete or masonry shall be coated with coal tar.
D. Temporary Protection:
1. Provide and maintain temporary protection of the work as required to safeguard
completed or partially completed work during the progress of the construction, such as
the provision of wood centering for opening in masonry walls well braced and secured in
position until masonry has set thoroughly.
2. Provide all the necessary rough stairs, ladders, runways, for convenient access to all parts
of the building until other pertinent facilities are in place.
PART 2 – PRODUCTS
2.01 GENERAL
A. Lumber shall be of approved quality of the respective kinds required for the various parts of
the work, well seasoned thoroughly dry, straight and free from large, loose or unsound knots,
sap shakes or other imperfections impairing its strength, durability or appearance.
B. Framing lumber shall be of rough dimensions shown on the drawings.
C. All exposed wood work shall be smoothly dressed and well papered.
2.02 Moisture Content - Not to exceed 18 percent, unless otherwise specified.
2.03 MATERIALS
Effect butt joint appearance for all T and cross intersections of exposed frames. When stronger
joints are required introduce halflaps, doweling or tenon, and mortise but still effect simple joint at
the exposed surface.
A. Lumber
1. Lauan: Sound and thoroughly tied, warp free, treated with TIMBRENE preservative where
indicated, smooth and level on one side or whenever in contact with paneling. For ceiling
joists and nailers.
B. Plywood, Plyboard, and/or Hardiflex Boards:EMCO CORP. or approved equal and JAMES
HARDY for Hardiflex boards.

Note: Provide solid wood edging for all exposed sides of plywood 12mm thick and larger.

3. 18.0 mm thick Class B plywood for free span shelves.

2.4 SUBSTITUTION LUMBER
Any lumber equally good for the purpose intended may be substituted for kinds specified, provided
however, that the substitution be authorized in writing by the Architect.
2.5 ROUGH HARDWARE AND METAL FASTENERS
Plates, straps, nails, spikes, bolts, joints, hangers, rods, dowels, fasteners and miscellaneous iron
and steel items shall be of sizes and types to rigidly secure member in place.
Use metal nails, screws, bolts, plates countersunk whenever called for with size, shape, and type
indicated. Use water-resistant glue for laminated items.

B. Mirrors: ¼" (6 mm) thick plate glass with felt paper and plywood backing installed on
aluminum frame.

Repeat application of one (1) coat lacquer primer surfaces. Apply two (2) final coats-by air
brush lacquer enamel paint. For all doorjambs.
2. Flatwall Enamel: Apply one coat interior wood primer/sealer primer, and finish with two
(2) coats flatwall enamel on wooden ceilings.
3. Varnish:
A. Stained Semi-Gloss Finish: Fill open grains of wood with natural wood filler. Apply Oil
Wood Stain as specified. Two (2) coats super varnish for top.
4. Concrete/Masonry Surface: Apply concrete neutralizer and two coats semi-gloss latex
finish. Fill up cracks and crevices with latex filler prior to the application of finish coats.

A. Plumbing systems shall conform to all applicable pipes and materials as indicated on plans.

C. All sanitary pipes shall be of Sanimold Extra, Atlanta or approved equal.
D. Plumbing Fixtures :
Plumbing fixtures shall be provided complete with fittings. Exposed traps and supply pipes for
all fixtures and equipment shall be connected to the rough piping systems at the wall, unless
otherwise indicated.
1. Water closets: HCG with Sloan flush valve lever type, white water closet with seat cover,
tank and fittings, or approved equivalent.
2. Lavatories: HCG brand, Counter type single-hole lavatory w/ complete fittings, or any
approved equivalent.

2. Floor drain: shall be 100 mm x 100 mm, brass nickel plated or stainless steel with hinged
strainer, complete with p-traps and vents.

1.01 WORK INCLUDED
The work to be done under this section comprise the furnishing of all labor and materials unless
otherwise specified, required to complete and leave ready for use the following items in
accordance with their specifications and accompanying drawings.
1. Supply and installation of the main sub-feeders from electrical panel boards up to service
entrance to include transformers and accessories.
2. Supply and installation of all electrical panel boards, gutters, pull box and accessories box as
required.
3. Supply of wiring devices, receptacles, outlets, switches, etc., complete with suitable cover
plates as per specifications.
4. Supply and installation for all branch feeders circuits from panel boards up to all outlets,
switches, controls or other loads, other wiring as shown on the plans.
5. Supply and installation of all fire alarm systems, emergency lighting and illuminated exit
signage as required by local fire code.
6. Grounding lines for electrical outlets as per Electrical Engineering Code requirements.
7. Provisions for ceiling-mounted LCD projector and individual UPS for lecture and laboratory
rooms (supply and installation of LCD projector and UPS units not included in the scope of
work).

2.01 MATERIALS
A. Wires:
1. Use only that are made of copper, soft drawn and annealed, of 99.9% conductivity,
smooth and true, of cylindrical form, and within 1% of the actual size, manufactured by
Phelps Dodge or any approved equivalent.
2. Comply all wires and cables with the requirements of the Underwriter’s Laboratories, tile
ASTM, and IPCEA as they apply with the particular usage.
3. Use plastic insulated wire or cable for lighting and power systems, for 600 Volts working
voltage, type THHN/ THWN unless otherwise noted on plans or specified below.
4. Use type THHN/ THWN control leads for motors or lighting.

1. Make all wires continuous between outlets or from panel to tile first outlet.
2. Connect all joints properly by means of approved splicing method.
C. Conduit
1. Use standard weight and size PVC conduit with an interior coating with thickness in
accordance to the Philippine Standards.
2. Never use conduit in any system smaller than 1/2" electric trade size, nor have more than
four 90-degree bends in any one run and where necessary provide pull boxes as directed.
3. Do not pull wire into any conduit until the conduit system is complete in all details in the
case of concealed work until all rough plastering or masonry has been completed.
4. Plug tightly the end of all conduits with cap to exclude plaster, dust and moisture while the
building is in the progress of construction.
5. Secure all pipes and fittings on exposed work by means of conduit clips, which shall be
held in place by means of machine screws or bolts. When running over concrete surfaces,
hold the screws or bolts in place by expansion sleeves. Run all pipes on exposed work at
right angles to or parallel with the surrounding walls, and generally following the form of
the building. Never allow diagonal runs and avoid bends and bends as far as possible
straight and true satisfactory to tile Engineer.
E. Plates
Use Toshiba plates and receptacle plates with color and type for approval by the Engineer.
