Electronic Newsletter for Wyomings OUT-OF-OPTIONS Furkids

February 24, 2014

e-WOOF is a bi-monthly

e-newsletter produced by a small group of Wyoming dog rescuers in an effort to highlight shelter dogs in critical need of help.

Park County Animal Shelter -- Cody, WY Contact: 307-587-5110 or [email protected] BARKLEY is a handsome 1-2 year old Shepherd/Rottweiler mix. He has lots of energy and loves to play, but also is a huge lover! He thinks he is a lap dog, and just wants to be close to you. He would probably be best in a home without cats or small children; his energy level may be a little intimidating for a small child. He is very smart and has a lot of potential to be a great family companion!
bit of a colorful past with an owner who abused her, so she can be a little timid at first. Once you arent a stranger anymore it is hard to tell she had ever been abused! She is playful and affectionate, and a great all-around dog!

e-WOOF spotlights many dogs that face euthanasia within days unless they are rescued, fostered, or adopted.
Transport can be arranged, in most cases, to approved adoptive or foster homes or rescue organizations. Please help us! These are good, healthy, happy, loving dogs that are out of luck and out of time. We urge you to crosspost to e-mail lists and Web groups, forward to friends, send to co-workers, and share with family. We hope our efforts, combined with yours, will save many lives.

RANCH is an 8 year old Heeler mix. He ended up at the shelter as

a product of divorce; neither of the people could find a place where they could take him. He has been around other dogs, cats, and children his whole life and is wonderful with all of them. He would be an ideal family dog, as he has had quite a bit of training and is also very gentle! ____________

Black Dog Animal Rescue - Cheyenne, WY Contact: 307-214-6600 or [email protected] McGEE (Snorts McGee) is a sensitive, loving and snuggly
6 year old boy who loves walks everyday, belly rubs, bones, couch snuggling, and his squeaky toy! In the house he is content to lay around with you and is pretty low energy inside but LOVES his walks! He lives for walking with you! He is very good on leash, housetrained, knows sit, down, shake, loves belly rubs, is good with other dogs and kitties! (He is a little scared of his foster homes turtle) McGee requires a 6 foot fence to keep him safe and would do best in a home with another calm and relaxed dog for company and a doggy door to his new yard! He is working on getting past some bad experiences with kenneling and his foster home is working to make the kennel a safe place for him. While kenneling isnt an option for him yet, McGee is a good boy in the house while you are gone and with a doggy friend and a dog door will do just fine! McGee is just a love and when he gets happy he makes little happy snorts of love while wagging his tail. McGee takes a little bit to warm up to people but once he does get ready for a snuggle monster! He is on daily medication for anxiety but the good news is it is inexpensive! McGee also knows how to tell time! He figures that right about 5pm he needs to go out to let out a few barks to let you know it is time to come home to him ....other than that he is a quiet dog!

TIME LIMITED: Must be moved soon. Time can be extended if a place is found and transport is being arranged. SPECIAL NEEDS/ SENIOR: Must be moved soon. Time can be extended if a place is found and transport is being arranged. OTHER: In critical need of help but does not fit in another category (i.e., hit by car, needs donations for emergency surgery). UPDATE: Good news.

Sir BOX Wiggle Bottom was afraid when he first came to foster care from the shelter. The loud noises and commotion of my 7 year old frightened Box to being aggressive but we have since gotten that under control and those two now sleep together! Box is underweight, so he is a very fast eater. We are working to slow him down at eating, and he is getting better. He will still need some work when he goes to his forever home as he will jump at the chance to steal a plate of pizza if left in his reach! He loves to play ball, with a Kong, with a stick, or with a rope. He doesnt like being on the living room furniture, but will only sleep on the bed. During the times we are awake, he goes to the back door and rings a bell to go outside; however, he will not wake me up at night and is learning not to go in the house. He knows his basic commands. Now that the fear of the new environment is going away, he is showing us what a sweet boy he is. He loves to play by himself and hasnt made any attempts yet to play with his foster siblings, but will lay with them at night. Box is ready to continue transition living in a home again - will you be his true love?

ICEE is a sweet six year old Lab who, true to Lab form, doesnt act her age! It took her a day or so to to feel comfortable and settle into her foster home before she would initiate play, but she is all about it now. She loves to bat the tennis ball around the house and is quite entertaining to watch! She knows many commands like sit, down, stay, off, back and is great with the recall. She kennels easily and is content staying there while her foster family works. Give her a Kong and a ball and shes good to go! Her leash skills are lacking, so a strong handler who is willing to work with her is a must. She is eager to please and a quick study, so shell get the hang of it in no time. Due to her size and playful energy, we recommend a home without small children. This sweet girl has a lot of love to give!

until she gets to know you but she loves to go for walks and play with toys. Being a lab, she requires lots of exercise. She doesnt like being left alone, so would be best suited for someone who has lots of time to spend with her. A family that could take her everywhere with them would be wonderful for Macy. She is good with all ages of people, but doesnt care for cats. Macy is great with other dogs, and she is housebroken. She is also spayed and current on vaccinations.

Time is of the essence for helping the dogs featured in the e-WOOF newsletters. Please contact the name/ numbers for each dog before contacting e-WOOF. In most cases, time is limited for the dogs featured in our newsletterswith that in mind, we try to get the word out to as many contacts as we can using this publication. Work on behalf of the animals for finding them homes and/ or rescues comes from many, many sources and is an ONGOING effort dealt with a sense of urgency. In some cases there may be times when a sudden adoption and/or rescue comes through at the exact time our newsletter is issued. This is an unforeseen circumstance on our part---while we certainly understand the crossover may cause frustrations for you as the prospective adopter of an animal we hope you join us in rejoicing for an animal being saved. We appreciate and thank you for your continued support FOR THE

A Beatles Hit. Its rumored that, at the end of the Beatles song, A Day in the Life, Paul McCartney recorded an ultrasonic whistle, audible only to dogs, just for his Shetland sheepdog.
