Electronic Newsletter for Wyomings OUT-OF-OPTIONS Furkids

May 6, 2013

e-WOOF is a bi-monthly

e-newsletter produced by a small group of Wyoming dog rescuers in an effort to highlight shelter dogs in critical need of help.

URGENT - Casper Metro Animal Control Contact: Cathy Corbin at 307-267-6524 or [email protected] TOM is a Lab mix, 3 years old. Tom is a good looking guy who is happy, friendly, and loves going for a walk. He is neutered and likes people and other dogs. He is looking for a second chance, a new home, and a family who will love him. He is waiting for that second chance! KICK is a Shiba Inu mix, 5 years old. A cute, fun-loving guy who is
easygoing, friendly, happy, and playful. Kick is neutered and housebroken. He likes to go for walks and jogs. He is a smaller size at about 19 tall. He has beautiful fur color and great markings. Kick is hoping someone will adopt him and give him a new leash on life. Will it be you?

e-WOOF spotlights many dogs that face euthanasia within days unless they are rescued, fostered, or adopted.
Transport can be arranged, in most cases, to approved adoptive or foster homes or rescue organizations. Please help us! These are good, healthy, happy, loving dogs that are out of luck and out of time. We urge you to crosspost to e-mail lists and Web groups, forward to friends, send to co-workers, and share with family. We hope our efforts, combined with yours, will save many lives.

TOM

PUP is a Heeler mix, 2 years old. Pup is housebroken and used to

car rides, living inside, and living outside. He has beautiful markings and a cute face. He is friendly, happy, and playful. He is most interested in trying to get someone to play with him; however, he does enjoy a walk. Pup would really like to find a new family and home. Can Pup come home with you?

He is a cute little guy who is praying for that special person to adopt him and take him home! OPIE is a Lab mix, 1.2 years old. Opie is neutered, friendly, playful, outgoing, and active. He is a good looking boy who enjoys a walk, and would likely enjoy jogs, perhaps skijoring, or anything active. Black Dog Animal Rescue -- Cheyenne, WY Contact: 307-214-6600 or [email protected] BOULDER is a 3 year old Boxer/Redbone Coonhound Mix. He is
a big, handsome, easy going boy who is very loving and affectionate. He walks well on a leash and is a great running partner. Boulder is house trained, crate trained, and knows basic commands. He is very smart, eager to please, and well behaved. He gets along great with other dogs but will need a no cat home.

Time is of the essence for helping the dogs featured in the e-WOOF newsletters. Please contact the name/numbers for each dog before contacting eWOOF. In most cases, time is limited for the dogs featured in our newsletters--with that in mind, we try to get the word out to as many contacts as we can using this publication. Work on behalf of the animals for finding them homes and/ or rescues comes from many, many sources and is an ONGOING effort dealt with a sense of urgency. In some cases there may be times when a sudden adoption and/or rescue comes through at the exact time our newsletter is issued. This is an unforeseen circumstance on our part--while we certainly understand the crossover may cause frustrations for you as the prospective adopter of an animal we hope you join us in rejoicing for an animal being saved. We appreciate and thank you for your continued support FOR THE

PLEASE NOTE:

sweety! He is submissive with other dogs and pays no attention to cats as they are not nearly as interesting as a tennis ball! Chewy is a quick learner and does well on walks on the leash. He is a big dog and needs lots of exercise to wear him out but that is easy to do when he will fetch his tennis ball until his legs wont let him anymore.

CHEWY is a 3 year old St. Bernard/Lab Mix. He is a big, adorable,

SNOWY is an 8 year old Lab/Shar Pei Mix. Quiet and gentle,

Snowy takes life at a slower pace than some. Shed love to be part of a family and enjoys the company of children. A nice soft place to lay down and a yard to sniff around in are all it takes to keep her happy. Shed be a wonderful pet for anyone who just wants a nice dog to enjoy companionable space with. Families with children, grandparents, just about anyone. Snowy is ready and will bring you many years of friendship. Other animals? No worries there either, she loves them too! ____________

Cheyenne Animal Shelter Contact: 307-632-6655 or [email protected] TOBY is a 9 month old male Black Mouth Curr/Mastif mix. He came in with two other dogs and they were not nice to him at all and he showed signs of being dog aggressive but Paula, our safety trainer/tester, took him home for a couple of weeks and worked with him. He came around great with other dogs but he was returned because they said when they left him alone he was destructive and tore the house up. I think with basic training and being kennel trained would be great for this guy. He is showing some signs of depression. TIPSY is an 8 month old male Shepherd mix. He doesnt have good kennel presentation so we are hesitant to put him on the floor. He is young, full of energy, and needs lots of exercise. He will need some basic training for manners. GOHAN is a 2 year old Retriever/Lab mix. He came in with another dog and neither one liked each other. He did pass his safer testing but is not really good with other dogs. Gohan would like to be the only dog in a home.

Park County - SHADOW in foster care

COCOA has been with one family since she was a puppy; now needs a more active home. She is 3 years old, well behaved, no health difficulties, and spayed. Cocoa is an excellent partner in an energetic, affectionate home. She weighs 70 pounds, comes from hunting parents, and could be registered if desired. Cocoa is good with children -- may be too playful with smaller ones. Good opportunity for a mature yet youthful companion. ____________

Park County Animal Shelter -- Cody, WY Contact: 307-587-5110 or [email protected] LEO is a four year old Bull Mastiff mix. He is very laid back and seems to get along well with almost everyone! Because of his quiet and gentle demeanor, he would make an ideal family dog! This handsome guy hardly ever barks, and loves to go for walks! FERN is a beautiful 1- year old Red Nose Pit Bull. She is very affectionate and sweet. This poor little girl was found tied to a guard rail in Wind River Canyon before she was brought to us. Her rescuer told us that Fern is great with small children. She would probably be best in a home with no other dogs; she just wants to play with them, but often times she wants to play a little rougher than the other dog would like. SOOKIE is a loving 1-2 year old Boxer mix. She had been adopted out for a while, but recently came back to us because she started a couple dog fights. While she never showed aggression to the children, her adopters did not want any dog aggression around their very young children. Because of this, they feel that Sookie would be best in a home with no other dogs, and that she would be great for a family with kids no younger than 5 years of age. She was wonderful with the children, so it would be great if she could go to a home with kids who would play with her! ____________

The Dog and Cat Shelter, Inc. -- Sheridan, WY Contact: 307-674-7694 or Cel at [email protected] NUTMEG is a very sweet, bouncy, loving seven-year-old Yorkshire Terrier/poodle mix who only weighs four pounds. She was quite spoiled by her person until he had to go into a nursing home. She is currently in a foster home and her new best friend is a cat with whom she cuddles up to sleep. Nutmeg is a cheerful little girl and would make a great companion for someone who is home a lot. She was never completely housetrained but is doing well in foster care where she is being taken outside frequently. Her new family will need to continue the process until she knows how to stay clean in the house. Nutmeg would be great for a retired couple and would travel well. Since she is in foster care, call the Shelter to arrange a time to meet her. Be forewarned - she will be very hard to resist! MILES is a small black twenty-one-month-old Kelpie/Aussie mix who had not been handled or played with as a pup. Since he came in October, we have been working hard to get him used to human interaction and enjoying attention. He has really come a long ways and is now walking on a leash and coming up to people he knows. He is a very nice dog and never showed any aggression even though he was terrified. He is always wagging his little stubby tail and wiggles his whole body to show how much he likes your attention. He might do best in a quiet home as the only dog and most definitely needs a very gentle, patient person. ____________

I made and ate hot meals without being watched every second. I had unstained, unfurred clothes. I had quiet conversations on the phone, even if the doorbell rang. Before I was a Dog Mom: I slept as late as I wanted And never worried about how late I got to bed or if I could get into my bed. Before I was a Dog Mom: I never stepped on or tripped over body parts. I didnt know what a bully stick was and never touched an esophagus. Before I was a Dog Mom: I had never been peed on Pooped on, Drooled on Chewed on Or pinched by puppy teeth. Before I was a Dog Mom: I slept all night without sharing the covers or pillow. Before I was a Dog Mom: I never looked into big, soulful eyes and cried. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldnt stop a hurt. I never knew something so furry and four-legged could affect my heart so deeply. Before I was a Dog Mom: I had never held a sleeping puppy just because I couldnt put it down. I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was well. I didnt know how warm it feels inside to feed a hungry puppy. I didnt know that something so small could make me feel so important. Before I was a Dog Mom: I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being A Dog Mom --Author Unknown

Calling All Rescues -- Canine Learning Center Needs Your Help!

http://www.caringlearningconnecting.org/encampment-dog-spayneuter-project.html
WE NEED HELP specifically to spay and neuter and rehabilitate all of the dogs living in a single home in Encampment. There are close to 35-40 dogs that yet need to be spayed/neutered from this residence. For $2000 we can have ALL of them done! More will help cover the costs of the continued rehabilitation to help them find new homes. Please help us prevent new litters in the area! The current owner began by picking up strays, who then bred, and their offspring bred, and so on. Soon things were out of control, and this person is on a limited income and was unable to provide the dogs with basic needs. Neighbors complained that the dogs were getting loose and harassing livestock, and that they were starving and without water or shelter. It has taken a few years to gain the trust of this person, who had good intentions, but was not able to provide adequately. Now that we have a working relationship, we hope to continue to provide relief in the form of food donations, training, and finding new homes for the dogs who are released to rescue, until it is no longer needed. Unfortunately, we are looking at a few more years of support to help the owner fully gain control.
