e-newsletter produced by a small group of Wyoming dog rescuers in an effort to highlight shelter dogs in critical need of help.

e-WOOF is a bi-monthly

URGENT - Casper, WY Contact: Cathy Corbin at 307-267-6524 or [email protected] 1. BOLT is a Chocolate Lab mix, 2 years old. I am a neutered male chocolate who is 2 years old. I like people and other dogs, I am housebroken, and I know basic commands. When I first came to the pound, I would cry because I was so sad. I enjoy leash walks, I have a great smile, and I am a good looking guy with shiny chocolate fur, especially when I am in the sunlight. The pound is extremely full and I am hoping for a new home. I hope someone will open their heart and home and come adopt me! 2. Spuds & Bronx are Black Lab mix puppies, 5 months old. We were left abandoned in a house and then brought to the pound. We havent had much contact or socialization with people, and we are very scared in the pound. We are not sure what is expected of us, but we are willing to learn. Yes, we are brothers. We have been here nearly 3 months now , and we are getting very scared. You see, the pound is completely full. We are cute little guys who need some help to learn how to be puppies and eventually dogs. The pound is very full and we need a new home quickly. Please come meet us and adopt us. We really are very cute! 3. BARON is a Chocolate Lab mix, 2 years old. I came from a hoarding situation. I am a sweet dog who likes people and other dogs. In fact, I love people and pets. I am a quiet guy who enjoys a walk and I walk well on leash. I have a good attitude towards life and really need a new home. If I had a bath and a nice brushing, Ill bet you would be surprised at how handsome I really am. The pound is very full and I am scared. I promise to love a new family and give them my whole heart. Please come adopt me! 4. MAX is a German Shepherd mix, 4 years old. Just look at my beautiful solid black fur. I enjoy walks and am ready to go the minute the leash is on. I like people and other dogs. Im very interested in my environment, and like sniffing everything around me. I look forward to being outside and I dont want to miss a thing when I am outside. If you come meet me, I will tell you all the reasons I shouldnt be in the pound, but once I am out of my cage, I am quiet. Please come save my life the pound is very full and I need a home. Wont someone please adopt me?

dogs that face euthanasia within days unless they are rescued, fostered, or adopted. Transport can be arranged, in most cases, to approved adoptive or foster homes or rescue organizations. Please help us! These are good, healthy, happy, loving dogs that are out of luck and out of time. We urge you to crosspost to e-mail lists and Web groups, forward to friends, send to co-workers, and share with family. We hope our efforts, combined with yours, will save many lives.

Time is of the essence for helping the dogs featured in the e-WOOF newsletters. Please contact the name/numbers for each dog before contacting e-WOOF. In most cases, time is limited for the dogs featured in our newsletters--with that in mind, we try to get the word out to as many contacts as we can using this publication. Work on behalf of the animals for finding them homes and/ or rescues comes from many, many sources and is an ONGOING effort dealt with a sense of urgency. In some cases there may be times when a sudden adoption and/or rescue comes through at the exact time our newsletter is issued. This is an unforeseen circumstance on our part--while we certainly understand the crossover may cause frustrations for you as the prospective adopter of an animal we hope you join us in rejoicing for an animal being saved. We appreciate and thank you for your continued support

Black Dog Animal Rescue -- Cheyenne, WY Contact: 307-214-6600 or [email protected] 3. PAIGE is a 3 year old Puggle. This designer breed dog
has been passed around as much as a trendy handbag. Amazing with kids and other dogs, a great size at only about 35 pounds, Paige has character and optimism to spare. Shes looking for a family to commit to her forever and give her that lifelong love and home. No kitties for Paige though, just a doggie buddy, some kids, and a couple of nice toys! ____________________________________________

Ark-Valley Humane Society--Buena Vista, CO Contact: Janet Burhenn at 719-395-2737 or [email protected] Web: http://www.ark-valley.org 1. PIPER is a one year old spayed female Retriever mix. She is current on all of her vaccines and micro chipped. She has a beautiful black coat with a feathered tail. She is an incredible sweet and loving dog in need of a true forever home. She can be shy at first, but once she warms up to you, she will give you kisses all day long. She is still a young girl, with plenty of energy so would love to go on hikes or runs with you. Just please keep her on a leash as she is easily distracted by cars and tends to take off after them. She would do well in a home with other dogs, but appears nervous of the shelter cats. So if you are searching for your new best friend, look no further, she is ready to go home! ___________________________________________ Gillette, WY Contact: Karen at [email protected] or City/County Animal Shelter at 307-686-5249 1. I think the poem I wrote (right) expresses the feelings of most people who work at or volunteer at a local shelter. There are many long days but many more rewarding moments. FRANK MALLON Park County Animal Shelter Cody, WY

HELTER SKELTER at the SHELTER

Life at the shelter is different indeed, cats and dogs, all creatures in need. Ringworm, roundworm, and other disease, we do what we can to address all the needs. It starts out early with fresh water and food, cleaning all day, pee, poop, and drool. Dirty cat litter, dog poop to scoop, first thing in the morning then continue the loop. Hoping to find each critter a home, at night theyre tucked in, warm but alone. A forever family each animal needs, just being born their only misdeed. Until they are gone, out of our care, their love and our love we will continue to share

UPDATES
Casper CRASH in rescue DAISY MAE adopted KENO adopted KANSAS in rescue BALBOA still available AMIGO still available

Hitch Hiker was recently featured in eWOOF and was available for adoption at the Sheridan shelter. He was a mellow, laid back boy who was a favorite of the staff and got to hang out at the front desk or with shelter director Cel during the day. A wonderful woman came and met with him last week and sent the following update to Cel:
Im so sorry he didnt get a chance to say goodbye, but I didnt want to make him stay over the weekend. He and I had a chance to bond all day on Saturday. I took him flyfishing with me and he had a blast. He does love the water, so we are working on having him swim behind me instead of in the water I am trying to fish! He seems much younger when he is out running and playing. Sunday and Monday he got to spend with the wild kids and he is great with them also. My son was playing with a rope and I noticed that Hitch found a place to hide in a hurry. That kind of broke my heart, so no more ropes around him until he knows he is safe. I just got back from taking him for a walk to water the horses out in the pasture. He loves to play in the ditch while I am watering. He is such a great dog and has such good manners. I

am so happy we were lucky enough to find him and include him in our family!
Thanks again!

Terri, Caleb, & Emma
