HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY NEW SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 9:00 & 10:45A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: Isaiah 31-33; 1 Thessalonians 5 Monday, October 8 Job 42:10 And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before. Lord God and Father: What a promise to prayer! Truly my ladder is taller than my pit. My longest sorrows have an eventual end, and there is a bottom to the deepest ditch of misery. Rains cannot frown forever; sunny skies will smile. The hurricane season does not last always. Lord, make the floods retrace their paths backward. The night cannot not hang darkness over my soul forever. Arise, O Son, with healing in your wings. You turned the captivity of Job; turn-around mine like streams in the desert. Make my life blossom and my passion return again. Intercession was the sign of Jobs return to greatness. It was the rainbow in his cloud. Expand my soul like Jobs. Enlarge my life-coast in loving prayer for erring brethren, and show your heart to me by returning revival. Intercessory prayer is the sweetest incense you receive. What wonders it can produce! In the Bible it stopped plagues, removed darkness that rested over Egypt, drove away frogs that hopped-up on land, scattered lice and locusts, removed thunder and lightning, and stopped your avenging hand on Pharaoh and his people. It healed diseases in the early church. When Moses sister Miriam was smitten with leprosy for her rebellion, Moses prayed and it was removed. Intercessory prayer even raised the dead when Elijah stretched himself on the child seven times. And so I pray for __________ and __________ to be saved! For how many souls has intercessory prayer been a tool of salvation? Eternity will reveal it. In one sense there is nothing intercessory prayer has not done, and therefore cannot do. I have a mighty weapon in my hand. Lord, help me use it rightly, constantly, and with faith in Christ Jesus. Amen. TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS MIRACLES Chronological Bible Reading: Isaiah 34-36; 2 Thessalonians 1 Tuesday, October 9 Mark 5:28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. Heal us, Emmanuel! Here I am, needing your healing. Good Physician, here is work for you; come and show your healing power. I looked unto Jesus and was lightened, but even my faith was a gift from you. I would never have seen the cross through my bleary eyes unless first your heavenly light shined, and the finger of your Spirit took the blindness away. I trace my faith to you O God, and ask now that others I know might also have it! Maintain the faith you created inside me. Stabilize it, strengthen it, and at the same time let it be more childlike and simple. Deliver me from any kind of reliance on myselfwhatever shape that confidence might takeand let my faith grow every day that I live, because there is yet room for the greatest faith to be exercised in our ministries and in our opportunities. Give me great confidence in you. Give me full faith in the Holy Spirits operation. Work it in me now, while at the same time I confess afresh I am ashamed that I do not have it. I make no excuse for my unbelief, but detest the fact I ever doubted the truth of the mighty and faithful God whose I am. Yet Lord, I will fall into the same sin of faithlessness again unless the grace that makes me know it also helps me to avoid it. I bring my heart to you, full of love for what you have done, full of gratitude, full of faith, full of hope, and full of joy. Make me glad in the Lord when I am sad in everything else. I do confess that if there is anything acceptable in what I have done it is only because you worked it in me. I want to lay at your feet the fruits that have grown in the garden of my life, which you own. Help me be a blessing to you today, for I ask it in Jesus name. Amen. FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: Isaiah 43-45; 1 Timothy 1 Friday, October 12 1 Thes. 5:17 Pray without ceasing. Gracious Lord and Loving God: You assure us there is no time today we cannot pray. There is not one unholy moment in any hour. Wherever we seek you with a true heart, we will find you by prayer. Whenever we cry you hear. The veil before the mercy seat was torn away. Cherubims blocked the way to the tree of life (Gen 3:24), but our access to you now is undisputed and continuous. The monarch Ahasuerus would not let anyone approach him unless he called them (Esther 4:11), but the King of kings calls for his people to approach in prayer at any time. You stretch-out your golden scepter of grace to us, and it is never withdrawn. The dead of night is not too late. The crack of dawn is not too early. At noon you are not too busy. When evening comes you are not too weary. To pray continually is a precious permit to pour-out our hearts at all times before you. The doors to your temple are never shut. Nothing can place a barrier between our soul in supplication and our Savior. For this Lord, we give you thanks! Because now we have a most secret weapon, a supply and source of strength. The road is ever open to the resources of your grace. Lord, help us send up the dove of prayer throughout this day. We seek the olive branch of your peace amidst our trials and busy-ness. Have regard to our pleadings. Remember all the things we, your servants (both near and far) today need to fulfill your will with our lives. You wait to be gracious till we pray. Bless those we have sent abroad just as you bless us, Lord. Let us mutually strengthen each other by prayer! You have opened the doors to the storehouses of grace. Today we seek your blessing for Jesus sake alone. Amen. WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: Isaiah 37-39; 2 Thessalonians 2 Wednesday, October 10 Rom. 15:19 Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; Most Holy Lord: There is no greater propensity to pride than living at a distance from you! It is good for me to be weak in myself, but better for me to be nothing. I rejoice in my absolute dependence on you as I pray for the work of the Holy Spirit necessary for revival. 1. Quickening (making alive) You need especially to be with us, to make alive those we are trying to reach for Jesus. I cry to you to quicken me in everything and in all I do. Quicken the word as I drop it into the sinners ear. 2. Enlightening As inspired as your word is, it is never understood apart from the Author. I can read it all day and never get to the kernel truth and discover the inner and vital sense, unless you lead my soul into it by your Spirit. So Holy Spirit, make the letter of truth alive to me. Transfer it to my heart! You be my accountability! Error always emerges where truth is not known experientially. Do I know it by experience, or just in my head? Half the heresy in Christianity comes from not searching the scriptures with a teachable heart, and submitting to the light of the Holy Ghost. Even a lot of things I think I know become confused when times of trial put me to the test. Make me know what I know by having it burned into my soul by experiences that only the Spirit of God can give! I cannot declare a message I have never learned. Until I have tasted your truth, my lips cannot know power in telling it to others. Feed me the flavor of your fruit so I can labor in your vineyard (2 Tim. 2:6). Make me know your grace, and love and truth in such a way I can teach it with power! Amen. SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: Isaiah 46-48; 1 Timothy 2 Saturday, October 13 Psa. 71:15 My mouth shall show forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof. Gracious God: My righteousness is not worth mentioning. Filthy rags are best hidden from view! But your righteousness in Jesus Christ is able to fill my soul full. Phil. 3:8-9 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: Forever dedicated to you, I am. My glory is to glorify you alone. I am your disciple. Psa. 71:18 Now also when I am old and greyheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have showed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come. When my physical infirmities multiply, give me greater privileges in the world of grace to make up for the decline of blessing in the world of nature. Nothing can make you forsake me if I have not forsaken you. Your promise has kissed my fear into silence. Psa. 71:21 Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side. Let my life be a record of trust that others can read, for your power is so worthy of praise! The purpose of life for every believer is to work zealously for the accomplishment of your praise. Psa. 71:24 My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt. You are mighty to save. It is safest to lean on you. Amen.

A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: Isaiah 40-42; 1 Thessalonians 3 Thursday, October 11 1 Tim. 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

HE giveth more grace as our burdens grow greater,

He sendeth more strength as our labors increase; To added afflictions He addeth His mercy, To multiplied trials he multiplies peace. When we have exhausted our store of endurance, When our strength has failed ere the day is half done, When we reach the end of our hoarded resources Our Fathers full giving is only begun. His love has no limits, His grace has no measure, His power no boundary known unto men; For out of His infinite riches in Jesus He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again. Annie J. Flint, 1866-1932

HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH HOW TO BUILD A BALANCED LIFE

1) TIMEWORSHIP Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily devotions. 2) TITHEWORK 1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3) TEAMWORD Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over. This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying. Alan

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
