HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 9:00 & 10:45A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: Joshua 7-9; Mark 15:1-23 Monday, March 18 Zeph. 3:17 The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing. O God of Time and Eternity: I lack words to effectively express praise for the fact you not only determine to enrich me in the future, but even now bless me with treasures of your love. I thank you your love is as certain in the night of the darkness of my depression as in the brightness of the day of my joys. Your love is that fountain from which all the rivers of mercyall the rivers of grace both in time and in eternityhave their origin and rise. I praise you living Lord, because praying over your word as the Holy Ghost enables me brings great joy. This is where I make fresh discoveries of the heights and depths, the lengths and breadths of the love of Jesus Christ, and find new and precious meanings in texts long familiar or lightly forgotten. O Father, help me today talk about Jesus in such a way others can see at least an outline of his beauty and an exposition of the gospel! Then, let your Holy Spirit shine through the mist of my cloudy language so Christ can be revealed to them in all his glory. Take away the blindness from __________ and __________. Allow them to see clearly the terms of the gospel this Easter season, and then give them faith to believe in your grace. You are the Refiner. I thank you that you are still patient with me through unstoppable love, until Christ be formed in me. That is my certain and sure hope of glory. Spirit of God, cause my faith to increase in fullness, consistency, and simplicity. Give me a more perfect knowledge of Christs love, so in turn my love for him will grow and his love for others will be shown. I trust that as I praise you, you will scatter your love abroad in my heart (Rom. 5:5). Amen. A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: Joshua 16-18; Luke 1:1-20 Thursday, March 21 Matt. 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS LIFE Chronological Bible Reading: Joshua 10-12; Mark 15:24-47 Tuesday, March 19 Luke 19:38 Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. Lord God and Only Redeemer: Like those on the first Palm Sunday, I praise you; I bless you; I worship you; I glorify you; I give thanks for your great glory as heavenly King and Almighty Father. You sent your Son to die for the sins of the world, but you have mercy personally, individually on me. Receive my prayer today, for since Jesus my High Priest sits on the right hand of the Father, he intercedes for me (Rom 8:34). You only are holy. You only are most high in glory. Give me the peace of God that passes all understanding, so my heart and mind can be kept in times of trial today. Keep me in your knowledge and love. Keep me in your blessing. Rom. 13:12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Give me grace to throw-away the works of darkness and put on my armor nowin the time of this mortal lifejust like Jesus your Son who came in great humility. That way in the day of Christ, when he comes again for me in glorious majesty to take me to his judgment seat, I will not be ashamed at his presence. Let me rise to maturity through Jesus who lives and reigns above. You wrote the Bible for my learning (Rom. 15:4). Now grant that I can hear it, read it, mark it, learn it, and inwardly digest it in such a way so by patience and comfort of the Holy Ghost I will embrace it and hold fast the blood, the Book and the blessed hope. These are all things given me in my Savior Jesus Christ. I lean on them today as my daily food and as sustenance to my soul. Let my Bible not be mere dead letter, but in a real sense my armor of light. In Jesus name I ask for souls this Palm Sunday. Amen. FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: Joshua 19-21; Luke 1:21-40 Friday, March 22 Jude 20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Heavenly Father and Holy Ghost My Helper: Do we not need a true theology of prayer? Prayer is an art only you can teach us. As the Puritans used to say: we pray for prayer; we should pray until we have prayed; we pray to be helped to pray, because it is just when we think we cannot pray that we are the most praying. Sometimes it is through liquid prayers (our tears). Sometimes it is not until we have no comfort in praying that our heart is really broken, and only then begins to wrestle in prayer so it truly prevails with the Most High. Why must it be this way? Certainly you, our God, are not slow to give. Surely not because our praying changes your divine purpose. Absolutely not because you need to be informed. No, this method is for our benefit and not yours. You require us to plead, and bring out strong reasons, because Isa. 30:18 And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him. You wait, because then we will feel the true value of your mercy. You make us seek, because then we attach the proper priority to what we are asking. Oh Lord, if we were not thus constrained to pray, we probably would not even act like Christians! If all your mercies came forth as manna, we would grow as weary of them as Israel did in the wilderness. This way we get a double blessing: first in the seeking, then in the receiving. So the very act of prayer is a blessing. Bless us this week as we bless you today with our prayers. This is the true sign of a child dependent on the Heavenly Father. Hear us for Jesus sake! faith? WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: Joshua 13-15; Mark 16 Wednesday, March 20 Mark 4:40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no

Wonderful Savior: I am saved, but I still need the Holy Spirit with me every day. I need him to do his work of convicting of sin. I need him to convince me of the evil and bitter sin of distrust, because this grieves the Spirit and prevents our revival. Give me the ability to trust you in a more childlike way. Oh, convicting Spirit, dwell with me from day to day to convict me of sin, but especially make me feel the worst about questioning the wisdom or compassionate concern of my faithful Friend. The worlds guilt is proven beyond a shadow of doubt. Give me open doors of opportunity to speak up and show people how the gospel of grace frees them from guilt, and delivers them from bondage to sin. Part of my unbelief is the silence I wear around others, when all it would take is getting in a word edgewise for the gospel. Here is how! Psa. 37:5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. Spirit of God, make me sane and wise. I commit my way to you so you can guide and direct my path. Direct us as a church into revival, so you can cause it to spread to the community, so Jesus Christ might be glorified by the working of your Spirit in our midst. We pray for his power so we can perform your plan! I thank you this is no vain request. Asking results in receiving. Seeking results in finding. Knocking will lead to opening. My request for revival is not lost in the wind, and there is a connection between your divine decree and my prayer, which is raised for mercy. It is for mercy we plead. Send the showers of blessing this spring that bear fruit for your glory! Amen. SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: Joshua 22-24; Luke 1:41-60 Saturday, March 23 Psa. 12:1 Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men. LORD and Life-Giver: What a short and sweet, suggestive and serviceable prayer this is: Help! Its a kind of angels sword I can turn every which way, and use on every occasion. I see the extreme danger of my position and turn to my Divine Helper today. What a useful cry! Just like smaller ships can sail into canals larger vessels cannot enter, so my brief cries to you and my short petitions throughout the day can trade with heaven when my soul is too waterlogged and business-logged for longer sessions. Sometimes the stream of grace seems too low to float a larger prayer. Make me bold by the power of this petition to meet the evils of the day with holy resolution and to hope-fully pray. My mere oppression, however silently I bear it, is in itself a cry to you. Moses was heard at the Red Sea when he said nothing except, Stand still. Hagars affliction was heard despite her silence. Jesus, Word of God, feel with me, and make my pains a mighty oration with you. My extremity is your opportunity. My inflammation of heart needs your attention. Psa. 12:6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. What a contrast between the words of vain men and the pure word of God! Your word to me has passed through fiery persecution (by textual criticism, by philosophic doubt, and by scientific disdain). Should not my words to you pass through the furnace of affliction as well? Make me Godlike in communication by making me godly in communion. For this I ask in Jesus name today. Amen.

PRESS on, press on, ye workers, be loyal, brave, and true: Great things the Lord is doing, and greater things will do; His army, still increasing with each revolving year, Shall send a shout of rapture forth that all the world shall hear.
The walls of leagued oppression to dust shall fall away; The sword of truth eternal no power on earth can stay; Though all the hosts of darkness were marshaled on the field, The Church of God would stand unmoved, with Christ her Strength and Shield. Behold her marching onward, in majesty sublime, Along the rolling prairies that bound our western clime; And soon from every hamlet on all our vast frontier Glad songs shall rise to Jesus, while skeptics turn to hear. Rejoice, rejoice, ye workers all rejoice; O, clap your hands and sing, Gods holy Church shall triumph yet, And He shall reign our King, Fanny Crosby, 1887

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over. This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying. Alan

GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily devotions. 2) TITHEWORK 1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3) TEAMWORD Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
