Ac t s 2: 37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto
Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
Oh, My Father!
I so want to win men and women to repentance toward God and faith in
the Lord Jesus Christ. I do not care about approval from others; I simply want
you to be sought-after by others. Help me witness in such a way sinners are
pierced in their hearts and led to believe in the Lord. For those who are won to
Christ, help them immediately step-up to fess-up their faith, and be discipled.
Any success in my life is only special because of the anointing of your
Spirit. If I am immersed in him I will think right, speak wisely, and my words will
go with power to __________ and __________ as I witness to them.
Increase my desire for faithfulness and fervent, united, believing prayer with
my church. Make the voices of my pastors that of a praying company, so your
Spirit can rest on the preachers as well as all who hear them. What a difference it
will make to the gospel if I am as anointed as my ministers!
Give me grace to fight my way through my own doubts and prejudices, as
well as those of others who hear me. I want to speak very boldly, never
compromising truth. I want to do my duty to testify in the sight of God and for
the cause of souls, with firmness and fearlessness of faith.
Yet give me meekness: the power of God through the character of
Christ. I want to reconcile people as much as convince them. Help me be gentle
in my manner but forceful in my matter. This is an art I can only learn from
you, Lord. Make me a partaker in your power so I can be an echo of your voice.
Do this for your own glory! Do this that Jesus might be exalted, so all who are
perishing might find him. Amen.

Tuesday, October 28
Mat t . 27: 45- 46 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto
the ninth hour. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama
sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
Great Shepherd:
The darkness did not come to an end until you broke the silence. Isnt that
the way it always is? When at last you spoke you uttered a Psalm. Each repeated
Eli flashed morning onto the scene. By the time you cried, why hast thou forsaken
me? the darkness was gone, and men began to see again. Some even ventured to
misinterpret your words as a call for Elijah. Yet light came, by which they could
see to dip a sponge in vinegar and raise it to your lips.
All is dark when you do not shine. No light will ever come to dark hearts
Jesus, unless you speak it. And that light will not be clear until we hear the
voice of your sorrows on our behalf. The sun itself could not shine if you were to
withdraw.
I soon grow weary (even of well doing). My spirit is heavy, and my hands
are weak if Christ is not with me. If Jesus Christ is not fully preached, if he is not
with me by his Spirit, then everything else is darkness. When I obscure the cross I
have blotted-out all spiritual truth.
There is darkness until these days of delay are ended. Generous politics do
not create order and contentment. Free trade does not breathe global peace to
nations. Till the Lord comes and the word goes out, darkness reigns. The sin that
darkened Christ is darkening those who do not believe in him. They will live and
die in the dark unless I get to them with the One who is the light of the world!
My spirit may be sunk in gloom, but you were there also. You passed
through darkness much greater than mine. I will not give up hope. Amen.
WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING

Wednesday, October 29
Ps a. 138: 7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt
stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.
Gracious Master and Glorious Redeemer:
I give you today my whole being, absolutely and foreverbody, soul and
spirit. Lord, I am praying for your kingdom to come. Make it come in my heart
and then make that revival spread! I pledge myself to extend revival by every
power I possess, and any influence I have, whether through preaching, through
Bible study, or by being discipled. By every opportunity you put in my way, and
by any means necessary, I am committed to having and bringing and spreading
revival. I do not think Jesus should have less than that from me (but I know he
does get less, far too often!).
Maybe Lord, you will call some men and women to say with me, I will give
myself to go and preach the gospel. Maybe you will move some men and women
to be involved in a work of ministry here, in Christs body. In that way revival
sparks fly, as the hammer of our will contacts the anvil of your word.
Maybe some of those who have this worlds goods will say, I know ministry
takes money. I can give it freely to the Lord through our church. I see what
revival does when it spreads. Let it not be retarded by my greed, when the only
thing Im doing now is storing up riches in accounts and in things.
Anyone can murmur about misuse and waste. Anyone can complain about
the spread of error in our city. Anyone can lament the passing of a generation
and the decline of a movement (and the lack of missionaries and pastors to take
their places). However dark and dreary I may think these days are, let me
never talk like God is dead! I am dead, but with an open Bible you can revive
me. Do so by your Spirit this week. Amen.

Josh. 24: 16- 17 And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should
forsake the LORD, to serve other gods; For the LORD our God, he it is that brought us up
and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great
signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people
through whom we passed:
MY faith has found a resting place, not in device or creed;
I trust the ever living One, His wounds for me shall plead.
Enough for me that Jesus saves, this ends my fear and doubt;
A sinful soul I come to Him, Hell never cast me out.

My heart is leaning on the Word, the living Word of God,
Salvation by my Saviors Name, salvation through His blood.
My great Physician heals the sick, the lost He came to save;
For me His precious blood He shed, for me His life He gave.

I need no other argument, I need no other plea,

Friday, October 31
Judg. 15: 18 And he was sore athirst, and called on the LORD, and said, Thou hast
given this great deliverance into the hand of thy servant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall
into the hand of the uncircumcised?
Lord God Our Mighty Deliverer:
Because you love to commune with us, you give us reasons for prayer.
Sometimes it is the simple thirst for holiness and revival. No matter how great we
may be in the eyes of others, you lead us to feeling very small in ourselves, very
much in need of youdesperately dependent on your grace and on prayer.
Every promise is a reason for prayerthat brings us revival. You have
compelled us to pray by making the blessing contingent on the pleading. Force
our needs to drive us to your mercy-seat todayinstead of our typical response,
which is to try and contrive a remedy out of the flesh.
We feel so low on grace and so unspiritual that, for the moment, it is hard
to pray. But pray we must, for we need you! Let us rise up out of this wilderness
of apathy, and help us accomplish the mission. You have given reasons for us to
come to you. You even put stresses on us, just so we will draw near to pray.
Ezekiel 20:3 and 31 forbid Israel to pray because of their sins, but you have
taken away our sins by a covenant of grace. Having forgiven us, you listen for
every word. Help us be careful not to despise our birthright of prayer! It is a great
gift of your Spirit as well as a great privilege as a saint.
Pour out the spirit of grace and of supplications on us (Zech 12:10). Real prayer is
your breath in us returning back to you. Since the Spirit knows what your mind is,
let him write your mind on our minds. Make our desires a transcript of your
will, because that means the success of our prayer. We ask this just so Jesus might
be rewarded for his travail (Isa 53:11). Amen.
SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS

Saturday, November 1
Ps a. 95: 1 O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the
rock of our salvation.
Let Us Sing to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of Creation:
I love you, I adore you, I reverence you. I want to magnify you and thereby
set a good example for others. When I invite someone to church let me cry, Come!
But also say, let us sing.
I want to make a sound that will communicate my sincerity. I may lift up
my hands as I lift up my voice in praise and worship of you. It is not always easy
for me to unite my enthusiasm with due reverence, but I dont need to destroy
one of those qualities to reach the other, because your word is clear that you want
me to praise you with abandonment of myself.
People in some churches are so concerned about being serious they put on
a look of misery instead of a look of fervency. They forget joy is as much a
needed characteristic of true worship as adoration is.
Ps a. 95: 6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our
maker.
Yet give me humility in my fervency. I want to praise you joyfully, but not
proudly. Posture is not everything, but posture is something, for you do not hear
the prayer of the neck that does not bow or the knees that do not bend (at least
in their heart). An adoring heart will often show its awe in a physical manner.
I am in your family; therefore you daily feed me and fend for me. You are
my God; therefore I love you well. You are my Lord; therefore I worship you
highly. You belong to me; therefore I praise you completely. My pastures are not
mine, but yours. I draw all my resources from your riches. Your hand is my
government and my guidance. Help me love you deeper this weekend. Amen.

HOW TO BUILD A BALANCED LIFE

1) TIMEWORSHIP
Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and
departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is
to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily
devotions.

2) TITHEWORK
1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as
God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions
asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come
off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the
firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our
resources.

3) TEAMWORD
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is;
but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship
with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

QUALITY CHRISTIANITY INVOLVES THREE THINGS
! Keeping Christ at the center (your core relationship of worship to God)
! Keeping the body of Christ a priority (your congregational relationship of
walking with us)
! Basing beliefs and actions on the mind of Christ (your church relationship in
the Word)

PRAYER DIARY

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because
they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are
no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the
same things over and over.
This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you
might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to
God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you
through the Bible chronologically in a year.
Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then
you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in
the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard
for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying.

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the
strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus
Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had
prayed.
Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times
and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of
prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the
injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore
there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If
you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus
Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather
than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and
exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be
deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only
spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the
time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition.
God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son.
