Alle Menschen sind Astronaut*innen-nachzulesen nicht nur bei Buckminster Fuller, sondern auch bei Michel Serres. Aber was bedeutet es, die Raumfahrt als gesellschaftliches Projekt zu reflektieren? Dieser Frage gehen die Beiträger*innen des Bandes im Hinblick auf die zwei wichtigen Dimensionen Wirtschaft und Kultur nach, die in Verbindung miteinander betrachtet werden. Die Analysen verdeutlichen, wie sich das technische Großprojekt der Raumfahrt in die Gesellschaft eingeschrieben hat, und lassen schlussfolgern, dass die Raumfahrt kein reines Elitenprojekt bleiben kann.

All humans are astronauts - to be read not only in the work of Buckminster Fuller, but also in that of Michel Serres. But what does it mean to reflect on space travel as a social project? The contributors to this volume explore this question with regard to the two important dimensions of economy and culture, which are considered in conjunction with each other. The analyses illustrate how the large-scale technical project of space travel has inscribed itself in society and lead to the conclusion that space travel cannot remain a purely elite project.

por una ley española sobre actividades espaciales.

The increasing demand for on-board calculation capability produces the necessity for high performance processing systems on-board nano to small satellites. Modern NewSpace applications especially signal processing, image processing, artificial intelligence require an amount of processing which is not feasible with currently available space grade solutions. In this paper, Thales Alenia Space in Germany is presenting its answer to this need: the multiMIND processing system-a highly flexible, multi-mission solution with modular software framework. The development and demonstration are supported by the European Space Agency in the frame of the ARTES Competitiveness & Growth activity "multiMIND on EIVE". Using latest COTS Xilinx Zynq Ultrascale+ MPSoC (multi-processor system on chip) effectively combines large FPGA with multi-core ARM processors and delivers the required performance power, whereas robustness against radiation effects is ensured by a specific radhard island circuitry. This radhard circuit serves as a supervisor for the radiation sensitive COTS parts as well as reliable interface to other satellite subsystems. This design is completed by using other elements like Linux, software components and COTS FPGA IP cores allowing for fast development in demonstration mission as well as cost reduction in next generation missions. The first application of the multiMIND framework is the E/W-band demonstration mission EIVE (Exploratory In-Orbit Verification of an E/W-Band Satellite Communication Link), where camera data handling and high speed data downlink will be demonstrated; it is scheduled to fly in 2022. This paper will also show how the multiMIND framework can be adapted for modern RF SDR, signal / spectrum intelligence, radar or optical applications.

On 11 May 2022, India observed National Technology Day to commemorate a significant and landmark event in its long and illustrious path of technological advancements. The celebrations honour the professionalism, contributions, and achievements of Indian engineers, scientists, and technologists who are responsible for the country's development trajectory through epochal technological and scientific breakthroughs. This year also marks the commemoration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, an exemplary time in India's rich history of people, culture, and achievements. ITCA is delighted to dedicate this issue of TIP, titled "Space Intelligence: The Future is Now," to this momentous occasion.

This article examines the reinvigoration of outer space imaginaries in the era of global environmental change, and the impacts of these imaginaries on Earth. Privatized space research mobilizes fears of ecological, political, or economic catastrophe to garner support for new utopian futures, or the search for Earth 2.0. These imaginaries reflect dominant global discourses about environmental and social issues, and enable the flow of earthly resources toward an extraterrestrial frontier. In contrast, eco-centric visions emerging from Gaia theory or feminist science fiction project post-earthly life in terms that are ecological, engaged in multispecies relations and ethics, and anticapitalist. In these imaginaries, rather than centering humans as would-be destroyers or saviors of Earth, our species becomes merely instrumental in launching life—a multispecies process—off the planet, a new development in deep evolutionary time. This article traces these two imaginaries and how they are reshaping material and political earthly life.
