O "Naufrágio do galeão grande São João" é o primeiro relato da História Trágico-Marítima, publicada em 1735, e do desastre ocorrido em 1552. O relato conhecido como "Naufrágio de Sepúlveda" é o mais famoso entre todos os relatos de naufrágios. Contudo, devido à existência de um manuscrito e de diversas edições, o que conhecemos é resultado de várias alterações ao longo do tempo. Neste trabalho, através da análise comparativa do manuscrito e de sete versões publicadas, tenciona-se esclarecer como a narrativa foi modificada ao longo das edições.

This article is devoted to Olga Tokarczuk’s book, Bieguni (Flights), for which the writer was awarded the 2018 Man Booker International Prize. The point of departure is the category of an
“experiment” used in reference to Flights in the English-speaking world (and absent in its Polish reception). The analysis reveals the contiguity between Tokarczuk’s diagnoses and the findings made by Catherine Malabou and Jacques Derrida in the book Voyager avec Jacques Derrida – La Contre-allée.

The paper investigates the use of motifs from Early Irish Voyage Literature in the Kildare Poems, written in Ireland in the mid-14th century. The study identifies potential Irish literary motifs, particularly those connected to the Otherworld as seen in early Irish voyage literature. However, the motifs are unusually explicit in their sexual imagery and may be understood as satirical. It is suggested that the exaggerated presentation of motifs from early Irish voyage  literature points to a cultural distance of the author towards a culture he was well familiar with.

I lettori incontreranno in questo libro treni reali e realisticamente descritti, treni immaginari e metaforici, treni fantastici e legati a elementi perturbanti, treni che si intrecciano alla Storia (tra pagine gloriose e momenti tragici) e alle storie di personaggi e persone che «sentono» il treno, lo utilizzano, lo osservano dall'esterno o lo prendono come prospettiva dalla quale guardare scorrere la vita, fuori dal finestrino, nello scompartimento e dentro di sé. Sono treni, di volta in volta, rasserenanti o inquietanti, carichi di paura o di speranze, che consentono incontri o generano addii, legati alla dimensione onirica o all'inferno che mette radici anche sulla terra, strettamente ancorati alla memoria del passato (in genere corrispondente all'infanzia) oppure proiettati verso il futuro, allegri o malinconici.

Paisaje con figuras estudia el viaje del Beagle por el sur americano, en el que abordaron Robert Fitz Roy y un joven Charles Darwin, y las representaciones literarias y visuales producidas durante la travesía. Enmarcada en algunas aproximaciones de las teorías poscoloniales, Penhos busca desnaturalizar los discursos heredados por medio del estudio de las imágenes en su contexto de producción, y desenmascarar la violencia implícita en las relaciones coloniales en las que se inscriben estos viajes, que puede descubrirse también en sus imágenes y discursos.

The article presents an annotated translation of Russia-related chapters of Peregrinación del mundo, a 1680 travelogue by Pedro Cubero Sebastián, a Spanish missionary and traveller known for his 1671 – 1679 voyage around the globe which partly included the territory of Muscovite Russia. They include rare eyewitness accounts of Muscovite diplomatic ceremonies, Russian peasantry, the life of non-Russian ethnic groups in the Volga region, navigation on the Caspian Sea, Russian trade with Western Europe, the status of Roman Catholic communities in Moscow and Astrakhan, and many other subjects.

Статья сопровождается комментированным переводом относящихся к России глав книги «Паломничество вокруг света» (1680) испанского миссионера и путешественника Педро Куберо Себастьяна, в 1671 – 1679 гг. совершившего кругосветное путешествие, часть которого пролегла через Русское государство. В них содержатся редкие свидетельства очевидца о дипломатическом церемониале, быте русских крестьян, жизни нерусских народов Поволжья, плаваниях по Каспийскому морю, торговле с западными странами, жизни иностранцев-католиков в Москве и Астрахани и многом другом.

"La expedición de los hermanos Nodal al estrecho de Magallanes y Tierra del Fuego"
En esta reunión científica internacional el autor defendió la expedición de los hermanos Nodal como la empresa que culminó el conocimiento de la región magallánica en la época de los Austrias, cien años después del descubrimiento del estrecho de Magallanes. El autor habló de la huella que esta empresa marítima dejó en la configuración de aquellas tierras australes del Imperio y las consecuencias que tuvo en la política exterior de la Monarquía Hispánica.

The writings of European travellers who journeyed to
Morocco in the 16th century are a particularly rich source
altogether but the Descripción by Jorge de Henin stands
out as a truly exceptional document in view of how
he combines with other Christian chroniclers. Henin
mentions the ransom of António de Saldanha, the
author of the Crónica de Almaçor, and his text combines
with the Relación by Diego de Torres and the Descriptión
by Mármol Carvajal, not just in terms of the addressed
subjects but in geographical and chronological terms as
well. Torres and Henin were also alfaqueques (redeemers)
in the service of the Portuguese Crown, a curious – or
perhaps not so curious – coincidence. Moreover, and
as if this complementarity wasn’t of itself a remarkable
and critical fact for a comprehensive comparative
analysis, the Descripción includes iconography, a true
rarity among 16th-century chronicles. Thus, I owe Rui
Loureiro for his generosity and Luís Falcão Fonseca
for his diligence, and even more so because it will
finally be possible to essay an approach that combines
graphic representations and textual descriptions, using
virtually unpublished material. This paper is meant to
be a starting point, based upon texts by Henin, António
de Saldanha, Juan Baptista, Mármol de Carvajal and
Diego de Torres. Another first class source is Marsigli’s
treaty L’Etat Militaire de l’Empire Ottoman (1732), a
chronological outlier but nevertheless an essential
source both in terms of text and iconography.
