Fareed Zakaria

Fareed Zakaria, comentarista internacional de CNN y columnista de la revista Time, con The Post-American World 2 , actualiza su libro del mismo nombre aparecido el año 2008. Tanto en su versión original como en ésta, puesta al día y ampliada 3 , realiza un análisis prospec-tivo del mundo durante el siglo XXI y del papel que van a desempe-ñar los EE.UU. y las potencias emergentes, en especial, China e India. Zakaria advierte que es un libro no tanto sobre el declive de los EE.UU. sino sobre el auge de los demás. Sostiene que este siglo va a ser post-americano, ya que el poder será más difuso en este nuevo orden mundial, debido a que la infl uencia de la, hasta ahora, super-potencia está decayendo y los poderes emergentes son más asertivos para hacer valer sus intereses. Al decir que es un mundo post-americano, Zakaria quiere expresar que el sistema internacional del siglo XXI en sus rasgos y característi-cas gruesas es un mundo made in USA, con primacía de valores como el liberalismo, las economías de mercado y el american way of life. EE.UU. seguirá teniendo un rol relevante a nivel mundial y compara su infl uencia a la ejercida por el Imperio Británico, luego de su retirada, en los países que recibieron su infl ujo, en especial, en sus ex colo-nias, que fueron hondamente marcados par su cultura, su lengua, su ética y su estilo de vida.

Este trabalho se propõe a analisar, sob a ótica de perspectivas teóricas antagônicas, as projeções a respeito da hegemonia norte-americana. O objetivo é reunir a posição de quatro autores e discutir a contribuição das suas ideias para o estudo acerca dos cenários traçados para as relações internacionais na contemporaneidade. De um lado, utilizaremos os conceitos de Giovanni Arrighi e Immanuel Wallerstein, que apregoam que a presente crise do poder americano é também uma crise de hegemonia e, necessariamente, haverá uma substituição do hegemon. Enquanto Arrighi argumenta que haverá apenas uma troca do hegemon, Wallerstein afirma que a atual crise também marcará o fim do moderno sistema-mundo em suas atuais configurações. Do outro lado, temos os autores Jose Luis Fiori e Fareed Zakaria. Este defende que os Estados Unidos terão de lidar não com o seu declínio, mas com a " ascensão do resto " , e aquele diz que a atual crise, além de não significar qualquer decaída do poder estadunidense, servirá apenas para reconfirmar o status hegemônico norte-americano. Através do entrelaçamento e discussão dessas ideias, espera-se contribuir com o debate teórico acerca das reconfigurações dos polos de poder e os rumos das relações internacionais neste século XXI. A joint review of three books (in Croatian): Croatian editions of Defoe's A Journal of the Plague Year and Zakaria's Ten Lessons, are read together with the English edition of Agamben's The Epidemic as Politics. Although I am less enthusiastic about Zakaria, I quite enjoyed reading Defoe and Agamben together …and there is no new thing under the sun.

Among the worst cases of villainous distortion and hateful misinformation as regards Turkey’s secular identity and secularized Islam is the paranoid and pathetic composition of the Indian, masqueraded American, Fareed Zakaria. Dangerous more than Ossama bin Laden, the purported Muslim emigrant from Bombay pursues an unprecedented and sophisticated policy of subversion that should bring forth disastrous results and far reaching ramifications.
The disguised as moderate Muslim, Indian-born, American represents one of the most serious threats against the United States’ role in the world, against Western Democracy, and against the possibility of de-barbarizing and humanizing today’s deviate, erratic and terrorist Islam. He does so because he got this sort of lectures from his illustrious professor: Samuel Huntington. Fareed Zakaria knows his professor’s plan and acts accordingly.
