Digital Era

Unlike traditional mass media, peer interaction between individuals is of critical importance in the dissemination mechanisms for social media. There is emerging interest in the possible novel application of social media in disseminating public health information or messages. In this paper, we analyze tweet and re-tweet behaviour in the context of Australian public health-related micro-blog posts to provide preliminary insights into the characteristics of widely disseminated tweets (including characteristics of re-tweeting accounts). In this way we also consider the nature and role of human computer-mediated interactions in affecting the level of dissemination of Twitter-based public health messages.

This contribution is based on the long term preservation studies into Enhanced Publications, performed in the FP7 project DRIVER II 1 (2007-2009). The overall conclusion of the DRIVER studies about long term preservation is that the issues are rather of an organisational nature than of a technical one. The nature of publications in scholarly communication is changing. Enhanced Publications and Collaborative Research Environments are new phenomena in scholarly communication using the wide range of possibilities of the digital environment in which researchers and their audience act. This rapidly changing digital environment also affects long term preservation archives. Raising awareness of long term preservation in the research community is important because researchers are responsible for public dissemination of their research output and need to understand their role in the life cycle of the digital object. At the moment of the creation of the digital object choices are made that will influence the long term preservation changes of the objects. Researchers should be aware that constant curation and preservation actions must be undertaken to keep the research results fit for verification, reuse, learning and history over time.

Resulta de gran importancia comprender la necesidad de fomentar la regulación emocional en niños, con el fin de lograr mejorar la comprensión lectora en niños. En la situación actual de crisis sanitaria, que se estudia en relación a Argentina, los vínculos afectivos y el aprendizaje deben ser desarrollados mediante las herramientas digitales disponibles. En el presente trabajo abordaremos la importancia de la autorregulación en niños de edad escolar, y la comprensión lectora desde la perspectiva de las tecnologías educativas. El objetivo consiste en demostrar cómo lograr una conexión eficaz entre los procesos emocionales y cognitivos en el ámbito educativo. Objectives: Incorporating new technologies into the development of smart cities means rethinking the way different services are provided. From this perspective, Blockchain might represent the future of both smart cities and smart communities as it offers new alteratives for individuals and institutions.
Prior work: Blockchain was mainly perceived through its linkage with bitcoin, but recent developments have started exploring the idea of using it for financial transactions, logistics and securing contracts. Tapscott & Tapscott (2016) have acknowledged the potential the Blockchain Revolution had on redefining the idea of trust in both digital and local communities. Blockchain technology has the ability to enhance transparency of local and regional institutions while also making it easier to communicate sensitive data without compromising security and privacy.
Approach We look at the different fields blockchain can have an impact on and we try to assess the viability of moving towards an integrated platform for intermediating day-to-day activities between both institutions and individuals. We will assess the advantages of digitizing and securing public and private data while also considering the potential risks this process might involve.
Results: We aim to create a model of how blockchain might work in communities and assess its impact on the overall economic and human development indicators.
Implications: Public administrators in many countries are starting to acknlowledge blockchain’s potential in solving problems for local communities Our results will be a valuable starting point for developing local initiatives for using blockchain as a platform for communications and transactions. Furthermore, a smart city must be a city where individuals can interact and solve their issues quickly, using digital technologies for increased efficiency.
Value: Blockchain is thought to be the future of managing both public and private affairs. Countries such as Dubai, Singapore and China are incorporating blockchain technology into developing smart cities. Blockchain makes us rethink many of the different aspects of how communities can be organized, offering new alternatives and promising a more transparent and efficient economic model.

The purpose of this paper is to provide a critical analysis of the development of large-scale digital libraries within the context of ancient and Enlightenment ideas about the ‘universal library’ and its association with the promotion of universal knowledge.

Pendidikan seni sebagai sebuah disiplin ilmu,
meniscayakan posisinya dalam peta ilmu pengetahuan
sebagai bidang yang dapat dikaji dari aspek ontologis,
epistemolgis, dan aksiologis. Sebagai ilmu pengetahuan yang
berada pada rumpun ilmu-ilmu humaniora, secara ontologis,
pendidikan seni mempersoalkan hakikat keberadaan seni
sebagai media pendidikan dengan tujuan untuk membentuk
segi-segi manusia dan kemanusiaan yang memiliki kepekaan
estetik dan kemampuan artistik melalui kegiatan kreatif,
ekspresif, dan apresiatif. Dalam perspektif epistemologis,
pendidikan seni memerlukan suatu strategi dan/atau metode
yang bersifat paradigmatis untuk mewujudkan tujuan tersebut.
Sementara itu, secara aksiologis, tak dapat dinafikan bahwa
melalui pendidikan seni, dapat diperoleh manfaat berupa
nilai-nilai yang berorientasi pada upaya memanusiakan
manusia seutuhnya sebagai mahluk yang memiliki kapasitas
kreatif dan kesadaran budaya. Dengan demikian, pendidikan
seni sebagai ilmu pengetahuan, bukanlah sekadar urusan yang
hanya mengusung hal-hal teknis pembelajaran di kelas semata,
tetapi ia perlu dilihat dan dipahami secara holistik pada ranah
filosofis-ideologis, paradigmatis, dan aksiologisnya.
Dalam kerangka itulah, saya melihat dan memahami
buku yang berjudul “Diskursus Pendidikan Seni Hari Ini” yang
ditulis oleh para mahasiswa Program Doktor Pendidikan Seni
Pascasarjana Universitas Negeri Semarang angkatan tahun
2019. Tulisan dalam buku ini sesungguhnya hasil kreativitas
akademik mahasiswa yang bersumber dari tugas pembuatan
makalah dalam “Mata Kuliah Isu dan Paradigma dalam
Pendidikan Seni”. Judul dan uraian yang dipaparkan oleh
setiap penulis dalam buku ini, sekurang-kurangnya berisi
gagasan-gagasan yang berorientasi pada isu-isu yang bersifat
filosofis-ideologis, paradigmatis, dan aksiologis tentang
pendidikan seni. Hal ini, tentu, relevan dengan kapasitasnya
sebagai mahasiswa calon doktor pendidikan seni.

Konservasi moral bertujuan untuk memulihkan atau mengembalikan nilai-nilai luhur yang dimiliki rakyat indonesia, yang saat ini mengalami penurunan khususnya dikalangan generasi muda. Jika hal itu terus berlanjut maka akan membahayakan kondisi bangsa indonesia yang masa depannya bergantung pada generasi mudanya. Jika moral generasi mudanya hancur maka dapat dipastikan masa depan bangsanya akan hancur. Maka dari itu perlulah kiranya ada perbaikan moral khususnya dikalangan generasi mudanya agar dapat membangun masa depan bangsa.
Masuknya perkembangan baru di dunia teknologi dengan sebutan revolusi industri 4.0, memberikan tantangan bagi dunia pendidikan, dalam menselaraskan pendidikan karakter berbasis kearifan lokal.
Revolusi Industri 4.0 dengan segala fleksibilitasnya memang amat terasa dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, kita bisa melihat hampir tiap hari tiada orang tanpa smartphone atau gawai. Hampir semua pemuda-pemudi sekarang mempunyai media sosial untuk menunjang jati diri mereka.

La obra que el lector tiene en sus manos y que se presenta bajo el título "Era digital, Sociedad y Derecho" trae causa de un proyecto de investigación concedido por la Generalitat Valenciana a un equipo investigador de carácter interuniversitario y multidisciplinar en el que nos damos cita profesores de distintas Universidades-la Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha y la Universidad Miguel Hernández- y de distintas disciplinas jurídicas: concretamente, el Derecho Internacional Privado, la Filosofía del Derecho y el Derecho Procesal.
El nexo que nos une y nos llevó, hace ya varios años, a emprender una línea de estudio conjunta sobre la materia que nos ocupa es la consciencia de que la reacción que cabe esperar del Derecho ante el reto de las nuevas tecnologías no puede ser abordada de manera unívoca y compartimentada desde cada disciplina jurídica, sino que requiere de una visión global capaz de dar cuenta de las necesidades a las que se enfrenta y los matices de la sociedad en la que ese Derecho está llamado a jugar un papel determinante. A partir de ahí, decidimos aunar esfuerzos para compartir problemas, puntos de vista, experiencias y aprendizajes. Ese fue el contexto en el que se solicitó (y concedió) el referido proyecto de investigación, bajo el título "La Era digital: nuevos problemas para el Derecho" (AICO 2017/161).
El equipo investigador está constituido por el Dr. Alfonso Ortega Giménez
(UMH) en el ámbito del Derecho Internacional Privado, la Dra. Isabel Turégano Mansilla (UCLM) en el ámbito de la Filosofía del Derecho y, desde el ámbito del Derecho Procesal la Dra. Yolanda Doig Díaz (UCLM) y quien suscribe estas líneas (Dra. Olga Fuentes Soriano; UMH) que tuve, además, el honor de ser la Investigadora Principal del Proyecto. A nuestro trabajo se sumó, desde el primer día, el esfuerzo y la ayuda de la Dra. Paloma Arrabal Platero (profesora de Derecho Procesal; UMH) que, sin poder formar parte del equipo por razones burocráticas, ha sido, de facto, un miembro más del mismo tanto en lo que a su aportación intelectual respecta, cuanto por su decidido apoyo en la gestión.

Interdisciplinarita je kľúčovým elementom vysokoškolského vzdelávania v digitálnej dobe. Digitálna éra obsahuje viaceré fenomény, ktoré nemôžu byť plne pochopené z jedinej vedeckej perspektívy. Prostredie je dnes vytvárané technológiami a pre ich pochopenie je kľúčové technické myslenie. Ale interakcie v tomto prostredí stále determinujú ľudia, čo predstavuje priestor, ktorý môžu relevantne študovať iba sociálne a humanitné vedy. Navrhovaným riešením je aplikácia interdisciplinárneho prístupu v samotnej vede a následne aj vo vzdelávaní. Študenti by mali byť systematicky pripravovaní nie iba na nový spôsob vzdelávania, ale predovšetkým nový spôsob myslenia. Aktuálne trendy musia študovať vyučujúci v tom istom čase ako aj študenti. To predstavuje signifikantnúzmenu vo vzdelávacom procese. Interdisciplinarita je esenciálnou súčasťou popisovanej transformácie.

A great evening with the Friends of the Library brings a fascinating discussion around the promises and challenges of digital data. Four industry experts shared their insight and knowledge around information preservation, digitisation, retrieval, storage and continuity.

Este trabajo hace un repaso de las tres primeras temporadas de 􏰇􏰎la serie de la BBC en las que Sherlock Holmes y el Doctor Watson se reinventar para adaptarse a los retos propios del siglo XXI en esta trepidante serie de la BBC: ¿Qué semejanzas y diferencias hay entre la versión original literaria y la actual audiovisual? ¿Cómo se conocieron ambos protagonistas? ¿Qué les llevó a convertirse en un equipo inseparable? A estas preguntas de investigación intentará dar respuesta este trabajo basado en el análisis de contenido desde la perspectiva de las Humanidades Digitales y la Comunicación Audiovisual.

This thesis aims to cover two aspects: first, a description of how the work of film composers is; and second, an analysis of how the digital technology affects the musical creation for film, and how different has become film music since the emergence of the digital tools. The first point will discuss about the functions and evolution of film music, and the main steps of film scoring, as well as how several composers have worked at different times in the last hundred years. In this way, we will be able to decipher what are the similarities and differences of the way they work. This is interesting for the students who want to learn how the film world works, in addition to how to compose music film with today’s available tools. The second aim is to compare the film music of composers who have used the digital technology with which they have not used these media, and to observe the differences. In this way, it will be observed the impact of the technology, not just on the work of the composer, but also on the musical result. In short, how technology affects the composition and to film music as a result.

This article examines five common misunderstandings about case-study research: (a) theoretical knowledge is more valuable than practical knowledge; (b) one cannot generalize from a single case, therefore, the single-case study cannot contribute to scientific development; (c) the case study is most useful for generating hypotheses, whereas other methods are more suitable for hypotheses testing and theory building; (d) the case study contains a bias toward verification; and (e) it is often difficult to summarize specific case studies. This article explains and corrects these misunderstandings one by one and concludes with the Kuhnian insight that a scientific discipline without a large number of thoroughly executed case studies is a discipline without systematic production of exemplars, and a discipline without exemplars is an ineffective one. Social science may be strengthened by the execution of a greater number of good case studies.

This study aims to understand the impact of online classes on the lifestyle of the students and how they react to it. In order to achieve this aim, the researcher shall conduct a thorough research about how online classes can affect the lifestyle of the student. Every student have their

Phronetic organizational research is an approach to the study of management and organizations focusing on ethics and power. It is based on a contemporary interpretation of the Aristotelian concept phronesis, usually as ‘prudence’. Phronesis is the ability to think and act in relation to values, to deliberate about ‘things that are good or bad for humans’ in the words of Aristotle (1976:1140a24–b12). Phronetic organizational research effectively provides answers to the following four value-rational questions, for specific problematics in management and organization studies: 1. Where are we going with this specific management problematic? 2. Who gains and who loses, and by which mechanisms of power? 3. Is this development desirable? 4. What, if anything, should we do about it?

The preservation of complex materials and associated environments presents the Digital Preservation (DP) community in general and the JISC community in particular with considerable intellectual and logistical challenges. While many of the techniques that have been developed within the context of migration-based DP approaches are of continuing value, others cannot be applied so well given the extra complexity presented by, for example, interactive videogames. Recent work undertaken in the Planets and KEEP projects has shown that the problems involved in preserving such materials and
their associated environments, while substantial, are by no means intractable, but in order to continue to make progress in this area it is important to engage and energize the wider
DP community.

A vital aspect of this process comprises articulating the state of the art in
1. Simulations and Visualisations;
2. Software Based Art
3. Gaming Environments and Virtual Worlds.

This encompasses exploring with international experts the research results achieved so far across each of these domains; presenting coherent pathfinder solutions; and clearly signposting areas where work remains to be done. A further step is
to synthesize key findings across all three areas and emphasize synergies that can be built upon, and to disseminate these to the various stakeholder communities.

These are the principal objectives that POCOS addresses and POCOS partners are well placed to tackle the problem space, with the University of Portsmouth as overall coordinator bringing research and technical input from KEEP; the British Library
supplying project management and research expertise from Planets, King’s Visualisation Lab bringing their specialist visualisation and simulation knowledge and experience; The
Humanities Advanced Technology & Information Institute giving their specialist Software Based Art expertise from Planets.

The Aalborg Project may be interpreted as a metaphor of modern politics, modern administration and planning, and of modernity itself. The basic idea of the project was comprehensive, coherent, and innovative, and it was based on rational and democratic argument. During implementation, however, when idea met reality, the play of Machiavellian princes, Nietzschean will to power, and Foucauldian rationality-as-rationalization resulted in the fragmentation of the project.

Seit 2012 gibt es die Dating-App "„Tinder“". Vom Campus in Kalifornien, wo sie konzipiert wurde, verbreitet sie sich seither über den ganzen Globus. Inzwischen hat ihr Siegeszug Deutschland - besonders die deutschen Großstädte - erreicht. Sie unterscheidet sich in vielen Punkten von den momentan erfolgreichsten Dating-Apps und –Plattformen. Der große Erfolg der App lässt die Frage aufkommen, wieso ihre Nutzergeneration ausgerechnet auf dieses Konzept so sehr anspringt - und was diese Entwicklung über deren Konzeption der Liebe sowie Partnerschaft und Partnersuche aussagt.
In dieser Hausarbeit möchte ich mich mit der Frage beschäftigen, ob und wie der Erfolg von „Tinder“ eine neue Entwicklung im kulturellen Verständnis der Liebe in der Nutzergeneration darstellt.
Dafür werde ich zunächst die Transformation der Liebe in der Moderne nach Eva Illouz umreißen, um genauer auf die Bedeutung der Etablierung von Online-Dating in unserer Gesellschaft einzugehen. Danach werde ich die zentralen Unterschiede aufzeigen, die „Tinder“ gegenüber anderen Dating-Portalen vorzuweisen hat. Schließlich versuche ich darzustellen, auf welche Weise die App Rückschlüsse auf die weitere Transformation der Liebe in der Moderne zulässt.

Within the frame of the so called “digital era”, the boundary between the biological and digital domains is less clear, raising fundamental challenges and questions for society and public policy. In this chapter we discuss on how fast biotechnological development challenges the scope the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in terms of conservation & utilization of biodiversity and Access to genetic resources and Benefit Sharing (abs). For this purpose, we distinguish and reflect on two generations disruptive biotechnology: on associated with genetic engineering and the other with synthetic biology. Some of the main challenges identified are related to digital biopiracy, the conceptualization of synthetic biology, the evaluation and monitoring of impacts, and the fair participation on the benefits derived from the use of genetic resources. The chapter offers some final remarks regarding policy implications and future lines of research.

At the same time that case studies are widely used and have produced canonical texts, it may be observed that the case study as a methodology is generally held in low regard, or is simply ignored, within the academy. For example, only 2 of the 30 top-ranked U.S. graduate programs in political science require a dedicated graduate course in case study or qualitative methods, and a full third of these programs do not even offer such a course. In contrast, all of the top 30 programs offer courses in quantitative methods and almost all of them require training in such methods, often several courses. In identifying this paradox of the case study’s wide use and low regard, Gerring rightly remarks that the case study survives in a “curious methodological limbo,” and that the reason is that the method is poorly understood. In what follows, we will try to resolve Gerring’s paradox and help case study research gain wider use and acceptance.

Esta pesquisa foi efetivada com a finalidade de mapear os artefatos que são atualmente denominados 'livros digitais', caracterizando-os a partir do cruzamento dos recursos próprios do meio digital com as principais especificidades dos livros impressos. A metodologia utilizada abrangeu revisão bibliográfica e observação do objeto de estudo. Para alcançar o objetivo proposto, realizou-se um resgate histórico, identificando as características associadas à noção de 'livro', levando em consideração as modificações ocorridas a partir de sua materialidade. Após esse estudo, foi possível compreender a remediação dos livros impressos nos e-books, principalmente naqueles que podem ser acessados através de e-readers e tablets. Outro recorte abordado por esta pesquisa focaliza a identificação e o registro dos recursos que vêm sendo explorados nas produções que estão sendo chamadas de livros digitais. Efetuada a revisão bibliográfica, foram estudadas as potencialidades do hipertexto, da multimídia e da interatividade dentro do livro eletrônico. Ademais, foram comentadas diferentes maneiras de o leitor se aproximar e interagir com o conteúdo da obra, através da utilização dos recursos citados. Antes de se realizar a análise dos artefatos em questão, foi necessário, ainda, aprender mais sobre a materialidade dos mesmos, percebendo como o hardware, o software e o conteúdo interagem entre si, restringindo, assim, as possibilidades que podem ser ofertadas ao leitor. Na tabela final de análise foram avaliadas as particularidades das seguintes macrocategorias: Identificação, Acesso, Funcionalidades, Potencialidades do meio digital, Aproximação da ideia de livro impresso (remediação) e Projeto gráfico. A partir do estudo teórico e empírico realizado, percebeu-se que o livro é um artefato com propriedades flexíveis, decidindo-se, por isto, propor uma série de princípios que, juntos, possam ser utilizados para caracterizar esse tipo de publicação, independente de ela ser digital ou impressa. Logo, chegou-se a conclusão de que o e-book é um conteúdo digital com as mesmas características de um livro e que pode explorar, além do texto e da imagem, recursos da mídia digital, tais como interatividade, som, vídeo e animação. Através das características predominantes dos artefatos analisados, foram identificados os seguintes tipos de livros digitais: customizável, PDF, digitalizado, multimídia e interativo.

This research has as its purpose to map out the artifacts so-called ‘digital books’ nowadays. They were characterized from a crossing between printed books main specificities and those related to digital environment very own resources. The research methodology applied to it was of two kinds: literature review and an observational study of the object of study. A historical overview was unearthed in order to achieve the intended purpose, identifying the characteristics linked to the notion of ‘book’, taking into account changes that have taken place stemming from its materiality. Given this perception it was possible to understand the remediation of the print book proposed in e-books, the ones accessed through e-readers and tablets mainly. Identification and registration of the latest developments in digital books resources were another point covered in this work. From a literature review standpoint, interactivity, multimedia and hypertext potentialities were crossexamined. Moreover, there had been discussed some of the alternatives to offer readers proximity and different ways to interact with the work content through the use of cited resources. Still, before realizing the artifact analysis, a more in-depth study of e-book materiality was needed. That is, to perceive how hardware, content and software interact among themselves restricting the possibilities that might be made available to the reader. The singularities of the following macro categories: Identification, Access, Functionalities, Potentialities of the digital environment and the approach of the printed book concept (remediation) to graphic project were evaluated in the table analysis. After an empirical and theoretical study, it was realized that book is an artifact with flexible properties, thus, a definition was set forth based upon a series of principles that together characterize this type of publication, regardless of being in printed or digital form. Therefore, we came to the conclusion the e-book is a digital content with the same features of a printed book and the former can exploit digital media resources such as sound, video, animation and interactivity besides virtually text and image. We were also able to identify through the artifacts primary features that were under analysis the following types of digital books: customized, PDF, digitized, multimedia and interactive.

Su enseñanza alcanzó enorme éxito . No se le permitió el acceso a la Sorbona por la oposición del grupo de académicos tradicionalistas .

Digital cities have been evolved from web applications and knowledge bases to smart urban environments. This evolution has mainly been based on broadband metro-networks and complex information systems, and it suggests the form of the future city that is called wireless/smart/digital or ubiquitous city. Although common practices are being developed all over the world, different priorities are defined and different architectures are followed. In this paper we summarize on the applied architectures of multiple city case studies, we use the experiences of the digital city of Trikala, Greece, and we conclude to a common Enterprise Architecture for digital city cases. This common architecture identifies the blue prints for urban information based development. Moreover, this paper presents a common architecture for service delivery in urban spaces.

In this paper we argue that the use of the communicative theory of Jürgen Habermas in planning theory is problematic because it hampers an understanding of how power shapes planning. We posit an alternative approach based on the power analytics of Michel Foucault which focuses on ‘what is actually done’, as opposed to Habermas’s focus on ‘what should be done’. We discuss how the Foucauldian stance problematises planning, asking difficult questions about the treatment of legitimacy, rationality, knowledge and spatiality. We conclude that Foucault offers a type of analytic planning theory which offers better prospects than does Habermas for those interested in understanding and bringing about democratic social change through planning.

This article examines the growing entanglements between the
digital and the world of food while suggesting that food is a
particularly generative space through which to understand the
evolving but often hidden role of the digital in our everyday lives.
The article starts by examining food photography on social media
before discussing the role of ordinary people as participants in
online food culture via video-sharing platforms such as YouTube.
Mapping the shift from web 2.0’s dreams of creativity and sharing
to the monetisation of digital food communities, section 3 focuses
on food politics, and ‘the antinomies of connectivity’. The final
section discusses big food players and their use of social media in
an era of dataveillance and big data. It argues that ‘food citizens’
need to have an awareness of the commercial logics that support
the communicative ecologies in which we increasingly engage with
food and lifestyle practices.
