Това предпостави нови концепции и модели за създаване, разпространение и дистрибутиране на съдържание. Настоящата статия повдига въпросите за това как и защо се прилага персонализирано дигитално съдържание, очертава най-общо идеите за развитието на технологиите и дигиталното съдържание и предпоставките за развитие на персонализирано дигитално съдържание в контекста на глобализацията. Практическата приложимост на персонализираното дигитално съдържание е очертана с общи примери от медийната и комуникационната практика. В заключение са изведени перспективи за развитие, реални и потенциални ефекти от използването на персонализирано дигитално съдържание. Въведение Комуникатори, както е добре известно, са всички, които работят професионално със средствата за комуникация. Това са не само журналисти, рекламисти и пиари, редактори, копирайтъри, а и блогъри, политици и много други. In this study, personalization of online learning environments, learner participation, and satisfaction in using these environments are inquired. With this purpose in mind, learners' personalization preferences of appearance and their satisfaction regarding the personalization in online learning environments are determined. In data collection and analysis processes, both quantitative and qualitative methods were used. And the study was designed as an explanatory mixed method research. Data is collected from 60 second-year students registered to Instructional In the study, to test the difference between two means, independent samples t-test was carried out but among non-parametric methods, and Mann-Whitney U test was conducted, because the normality hypothesis was not obtained in the tests. In order to evaluate students' learning environment usage and personalization of appearance satisfaction, survey was provided. Moreover, focus group discussions and in-depth interviews were held with the students chosen among both the ones who fulfilled the personalization and the ones who did not. According to the results of the study, satisfaction level of the ones who did the personalization was higher than the ones who did not.

Business information system is an area of the greatest significance in any business enterprise today. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) projects are a growing segment of this vital area. These software systems are designed and installed by ERP vendors. Most current research on the subject concerns only managerial issues. This study is to probe the performance of ERP software in terms of the three crucial technical factors that determine the success or failure of a given ERP software. To probe these research issues, an exploratory case study was conducted with a survey and interview at a large organization with an ERP system. The statistical analysis of the collected data supports the three hypotheses of the study, leading to the conclusion that the crucial technical factors for ERP implementation are the same in literature and in the companies with successful ERP implementation. This project aims to gain an understanding of the relationships people have with everyday, domestic objects inside their urban living spaces using Do-it-Yourself (DIY) furniture making projects. Throughout the project, new knowledge is generated using hands-on making activities
as a form of Research through Design (RtD). The primary objectives of this research are to open up and encourage these kinds of Do-it-Yourself, experiential learning activities as resources for people to draw on in their
everyday lives. By innovating design interventions related to personal well-being and satisfaction with our objects, this project has led to the development of concrete design research exemplars demonstrating how DIY projects can operate as creative resources for everyday design. Through the design, implementation, and study of the artifacts created for DIY home customization, this research aims to support people in experiencing increased levels of self-satisfaction, well-being, and sense of value with their belongings. This investigation focuses on aspects
of a domestic object’s importance, becoming an ‘Everyday Designer,’ customization, personalization and their respective relationships to consumption and material culture. As a result of this research, multiple DIY furniture projects and instructional booklets have been created to provide opportunities for everyone from non-designers to experienced makers to conduct a personal material exploration. Together with this creative act of hands-on making, everyday design practices allow people to reflect on the objects they own and why, while also achieving an
increased sense of well-being and agency towards their domestic objects.

In a world marked by globalization, common markets, large corporations, mass production and an almost unlimited supply of industrial products, individualization is a requirement that is increasingly gaining importance among consumers. The market for products that express your personality and tastes, identifying them and make them unique by customizing is booming. This opens a possibility to design committed to developing products that meet these individual needs, even in mass produced products. However, projective methods usually employed by design professionals do not consider this new scenario, creating a gap to be studied. This study aims to identify steps and characteristics of methodological processes that incorporate the customization postproduction. The bias of scientific research, this work makes use of exploratory research, and qualitative literature through questionnaires and interviews. The application of the interviews took place with a group of professionals working in different areas of product design. A summary of the interviews, together with a comparative analysis of convergent and divergent data, amounted to identify key steps in developing products that take into account user customization postproduction. Final results realize the importance of thought toward customization in various stages of project design.

This paper investigates the relationship among e-retailing attributes, esatisfaction, and e-loyalty. We identify five attributes (shopping convenience, product selection, informativeness, price, and customization) of e-retailing that potentially affect e-satisfaction and impact e-loyalty. Data collected from 238 online customers demonstrate that shopping convenience and informativeness except product selection, price and customization affect e-satisfaction and informativeness, price, and customization except shopping convenience and product selection impact e-loyalty. Also, the data show that e-satisfaction strongly affect e-loyalty.

Today’s customer no longer wants one-size-fits-all products but expects products and services to be as tailored as possible. Mass customization and personalization are becoming a trend in the digitalization strategy of enterprises and manufacturing in Industry 4.0. The purpose of the paper
is to develop and validate a conceptual model for leveraging Industry 4.0 and digitalization to support product customization. We explored the implications and impacts of Industry 4.0 and digitalization on product customization processes and determine the importance of variables. We applied structural equation modeling (SEM) to test our hypotheses regarding the antecedents and consequences of digitalization and Industry 4.0. We estimated the process model using the partial least squares (PLS) method, and goodness of fit measures show acceptable values. The proposed model considers relationships between technology readiness, digitalization, internal and external integration, internal
value chain, and customization. The results show the importance of digitalization and technology readiness for product customization. The results reveal that the variable of internal integration plays a crucial mediating role in applying new technologies and digitalization for customization. The paper’s main contribution is the conclusion that, for successful implementation of the customization process, models are required to focus on the internal and external factors of the business environment. Our findings are supported by various practical applications of possible product customization.

Enterprise resource planning (ERP) projects are complex and resource demanding. Some ERP projects fail due to what is called 'misfit' between the adopting organization's business requirements and the ERP's functionalities. Existing literature has studied how ERP systems match to different organizations and have argued that there always exists a gap between the business rules embedded in the system, and the practices and processes that exist in organizations. Thus, tailoring might be an important procedure during ERP implementations, in which the ERP customization takes place in order to ensure the compliance with the organizations' critical business processes and requirements. Via an in-depth case study, this research investigates how the different ERP tailoring types defined in literature correspond to different types of misfits identified in an ERP implementation project at a large public organization. The study results suggest that there is a correlation between tailoring types and categories of misfits. In other words, different categories of misfits can be decisive for the type of customization being used. These categories can be organized into four main influences that affect tailoring; strategy, project, system and institution. Moreover, internal institutional factors that are linked to system acceptance, such as culture and resistance could affect tailoring.

Background: Applying 3D printing technology for the fabrication of custom-made orthoses provides significant advantages, including increased ventilation and lighter weights. Currently, the design of such orthoses is most often performed in the CAD environment, but creating the orthosis model is a time-consuming process that requires significant CAD experience. This skill gap limits clinicians from applying this technology in fracture treatment. The purpose of this study is to develop a parametric model as the design generator for 3D–printed orthoses for an inexperienced CAD user and to evaluate its feasibility and ease of use via a training and design exercise.

Background: The personalization of conversational agents with natural language user interfaces is seeing increasing use in health care applications, shaping the content, structure, or purpose of the dialogue between humans and conversational agents.

Objective: The goal of this systematic review was to understand the ways in which personalization has been used with conversational agents in health care and characterize the methods of its implementation.

Methods: We searched on PubMed, Embase, CINAHL, PsycInfo, and ACM Digital Library using a predefined search strategy. The studies were included if they: (1) were primary research studies that focused on consumers, caregivers, or health care professionals; (2) involved a conversational agent with an unconstrained natural language interface; (3) tested the system with human subjects; and (4) implemented personalization features.
Results: The search found 1958 publications. After abstract and full-text screening, 13 studies were included in the review. Common examples of personalized content included feedback, daily health reports, alerts, warnings, and recommendations. The personalization features were implemented without a theoretical framework of customization and with limited evaluation of its impact. While conversational agents with personalization features were reported to improve user satisfaction, user engagement and dialogue quality, the role of personalization in improving health outcomes was not assessed directly.

Conclusions: Most of the studies in our review implemented the personalization features without theoretical or evidence-based support for them and did not leverage the recent developments in other domains of personalization. Future research could incorporate personalization as a distinct design factor with a more careful consideration of its impact on health outcomes and its implications on patient safety, privacy, and decision-making.

Most companies typically use touchpoint measurements as a representation for the Total Customer Experience (TCX). However, one can argue that this representation is inadequate since CX is also determined by what is experienced before, between and after touchpoints, which defines the whole customer journey. This paper discusses the adequacy of TCX measured only through touchpoints and investigates the challenges of (a) defining, (b) modelling and measuring, and (c) managing and improving TCX. First, TCX definition challenges are discussed and a new definition of TCX is proposed, considering the four phases that characterise the whole customer journey that are Initiation, Touchpoints, In-between Touchpoints and Finalization. Second, the challenges of modelling and measuring TCX are addressed and a new TCX model that measures emotions is proposed and explained through a fictitious case example. Third, three challenges for managing and improving TCX are discussed and a new way to manage and improve the TCX performance in a company is presented and applied by using the developed TCX model and the case example.

In this paper, integrating decision tree and association rules for user profile information and log information of website in an online shopping store is targeted. The tangible results of such a framework for decision makers and marketers are customization of web pages and statistical analysis for sale improvement. Applying association rules, the website users' patterns are mined and utilizing decision tree users are classified and their interests are determined. By combining the results of two algorithms and its analysis, the behavior models from user profile, user interests in terms of age and gender, and the most visited web pages by subject can be achieved.

We need ways to improve the code quality. Programmers have different level of tenure and experience. Standard and programming languages change and we are forced to re-use legacy code with minimum revision. Programmers develop their habits and can be slow to incorporate new technologies to simplify the code or improve the performance. We rolled out our customized code review and pair programming process to address these issues. The paper discusses the about the improvement of mandatory code review and pair programming practiced in the commercial software development, and also proposes effective approaches to customize the code review and pair programming to avoid the pitfalls and keep the benefits.

A B S T R A C T Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) packages developed by ERP vendors are designed not only to standardize the existing business processes of the implementing organization, but also to bring in some of the best practices of the industry. There are many past studies on the assessment of the efficiency of standard ERP projects; however, to date no research has been conducted to assess the efficiency of ERP packages from the point of view of customization. Assessing the efficiency of customized ERP packages is vital for benchmarking best customization practices. In this study we examine the efficiency of customized ERP packages using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). We also examine the relationship between the degree of customization of ERP packages and their efficiency. Data was collected from an IT vendor who had deployed ERP package in 12 educational institutions. The results suggest that customization adversely affects the efficiency of ERP packages. We also discuss the implications of the results for research and practice.

different parts of the world. Advertising products and manipulating the customers to buy is one of
the techniques used by the international companies. As a result some companies take standardization
as an incentive to attract customers while some use customization or personalization to
manipulate them. This as a result that has created a debate between different marketers to choose
a beneficial way to satisfy by attracting different customers. This article focuses on various problems
which marketers face in terms of online retailing as well as different obstacles encountered
by consumers while making buying decisions for standardized or customized products through
online Medium (Internet).

The recent manufacturing environment is characterized as having diverse products due to mass customization, short production lead-time, and unstable customer demand. Today, the need for flexibility, quick responsiveness, and robustness to system uncertainties in production scheduling decisions has increased significantly. In traditional job shops, tooling is usually assumed as a fixed resource. However, when tooling resource is shared among different machines, a greater product variety, routing flexibility with a smaller tool inventory can be realized. Such a strategy is usually enabled by an automatic tool changing mechanism and tool delivery system to reduce the time for tooling setup, hence allows parts to be processed in small batches. In this research, a dynamic scheduling problem under flexible tooling resource constraints is studied. An integrated approach is proposed to allow two levels of hierarchical, dynamic decision making for job scheduling and tool flow control in Automated Manufacturing Systems. It decomposes the overall problem into a series of static subproblems for each scheduling window, handles random disruptions by updating job ready time, completion time, and machine status on a rolling horizon basis, and considers the machine availability explicitly in generating schedules. Two types of manufacturing system models are used in simulation studies to test the effectiveness of the proposed dynamic scheduling approach. First, hypothetical models are generated using some generic shop flow structures (e.g. flexible flow shops, job shops, and single-stage systems) and configurations .They are tested to provide the empirical evidence about how well the proposed approach performs for the general automated manufacturing systems where parts have alternative routings. Second, a model based on a real industrial flexible manufacturing system was used to test the effectiveness of the proposed approach when machine types, part routing, tooling, and other production parameters closely mimic to the real flexible manufacturing operations.

Parametric design is essentially a generative design that can be created using a computer and mathematical relationships. In a process-oriented way (instead of changing the shape), we modify the com-ponents' parameters that make up the shape, resulting in a new look. Because manipulations' consequences can be seen immediately, the development of product families and new product variants can be implemented quickly. With the help of parametric design, customizing the product and increasing customer satisfaction is more efficient, as several successful projects have already shown in automotive industry, aircraft manufacturing, architecture, jewelry manufacturing, etc.

Genome browser provides a graphical interface for users to browse, search, retrieve and analyze genomic sequence and annotation data. Web-based genome browsers can be classified into general genome browsers with multiple species and species-specific genome browsers. In this review, we attempt to give an overview for the main functions and features of web-based genome browsers, covering data visualization, retrieval, analysis and customization. To give a brief introduction to the multiple-species genome browser, we describe the user interface and main functions of the Ensembl and UCSC genome browsers using the human alpha-globin gene cluster as an example. We further use the MSU and the Rice-Map genome browsers to show some special features of species-specific genome browser, taking a rice transcription factor gene OsSPL14 as an example.

Modular product designs enable firms to fulfill market requirements for customization while balancing profitability targets. In modular product design, larger systems are broken down into independent sub-components, while the functionality of the entire system is preserved. While product modularity has received great attention from the literature in production and process optimization, research on consumer perceptions of modular products is still in its infancy. The present study develops a two-dimensional scale for product modularity as a basis for an online consumer survey, assessing their perceptions of modular product designs and potential effects of product modularity on product adoption intention. Particular value of this study lies in the application of a consumer research vantage point in the literature field of modular product design.

This article is a case study about a book titled The Discipline of Organizing, which proposes a transdisciplinary synthesis of ideas from library and information science, computer science, informatics, cognitive science, business, and other disciplines that "intentionally arrange collections of resources to enable interactions with them." This case study discusses the interrelationships between the transdisciplinary goal for the book, the process of collaborative authoring required to write it, the novel architecture of the book's content, and the innovative reading experiences in print and ebook formats that are enabled. The idea that a new discipline is contextualized by more specific concepts and methods inevitably led to a collaboratively-authored book whose design embodies this intellectual architecture. The book's content is organized as a transdisciplinary core with supplemental content identified by discipline. This content model creates a "family of books" with thousands of siblings, any of which can be published in print or as an ebook by filtering on the disciplinary attributes. This "design-time" customization has been extended to enable "reading-time" personalization for ebook formats. In addition, the rich semantic markup that enables customization and personalization is fodder for further experimentation about "smart textbooks" that can be continuously made smarter by dynamic discovery and inclusion of content.

A game's interface is where players communicate with the game, so it has intrinsic importance to players. As player interactions in a game get more advanced, so does the complexity of the game interface. Massively Multiplayer Online game (MMO) interfaces are at the top of the complexity pyramid as they can display plentiful information such as character skills, stats, maps, chat windows. As the interface gets more complex, so does the merits of customizable interfaces. This paper reports results from a study which investigated the importance of interfaces and interface customization for MMO players using an online mixed method survey. Results validate that interface quality is important for players and interface customization is a desirable feature for player engagement and motivation to play MMOs. Further results are discussed in the paper.

Can non-EU member states influence the EU’s energy policy? The Europeanization of energy policy in third countries is often described as a one-directional process in which these countries essentially adopt the EU energy acquis. Our article questions this dominant view by exploring whether and how third countries can influence the formulation and implementation of EU energy policy. We argue that relative differences in third country influence depend on their access to relevant venues and actors of EU policy-making as well as their structural power resources. We develop a typology linking these two factors to the outsider, follower, challenger, or shaper roles that third countries assume in EU energy governance. We empirically probe our argument in three case studies representing different models of EU–third country cooperation. Our cases include a group of nine Southeast and East European countries (Energy Community), Switzerland (bilateral arrangements), and Norway (European Economic Area). The analysis shows that it is access and structural power which together define the extent to which third countries are able to influence the formulation of EU energy policy and customize its implementation to their domestic needs. We find that while the Energy Community members are followers in EU energy governance, Switzerland and Norway are shapers. Strikingly, the influence of these two non-EU members may occasionally even surpass that of smaller EU member states. This highlights that third countries are not merely downloading EU energy regulation but sometimes also succeed in uploading their own preferences. Undoubtedly, as social media ubiquity spreads, the attendant forms of emerging creativity, collaboration and community further appropriate and adapt Digital Art current trends. As Jean Burgess observes in her studies on YouTube, one of the key attributes of this personalization phenomenon is what she calls "vernacular creativity" [9]. Here Burgess spearheads the amateur / professional nexus that has been transformed through networked social media. In these transformations, the role Digital Art vernaculars play in the divergent world of the global games industry in an age of social, networked media has been given little focus. One such vernacular can be seen in cute culture. As a highly emotional and affective vernacular with its roots in Japanese personalization culture, cute culture has straddled various Digital Art terrains such as gaming and new media. I argue that through charting the cartographies of personalization through cute character culture we can gain insight into Digital Art vernaculars both inside and outside Game Studies. By honing in upon one of the most pervasive modes of Digital Art-cute character culture-this paper provides new ways to conceptualize Digital Art. To focus upon cute culture is to explore an aesthetic that has its genealogy in Japanese technocultures-a realm that has, until recently, been left under-researched in the Englishspeaking world. In a period marked by the increasingly proclivity towards "personalized technologies" it is cute culture, with its history in the rise of Japanese personal technologies from the 1970s, that can lend much insight into the politics and practices of contemporary Digital Art. In this paper I uncover some of the meanings that have caused cute culture to become a lynchpin between so much media converging Digital Art with games in an age in which the personal-epitomized by personal technologies-has a deeply political edge.

Customized products help firms creating differentiated value for consumers in highly competitive markets. Modular product designs enable firms to fulfill market requirements for customization while balancing profitability targets. In modular product design, larger systems are broken down into independent sub-components, while the functionality of the entire system is preserved. While product modularity has received great attention from the literature in production and process optimization, research on consumer perceptions of modular products is still in its infancy. The present study develops a two-dimensional scale for product modularity as a basis for an online consumer survey, assessing their perceptions of modular product designs and potential effects of product modularity on product adoption intention. Particular value of this study lies in the application of a consumer research vantage point in the literature field of modular product design.

This paper offers a short commentary on the editorial by Mannion and Exworthy. The paper highlights the positive insights offered by their analysis into the tensions between the competing institutional logics of standardization and customization in healthcare, in part manifested in the conflict between managers and professionals, and endorses the plea of the authors for further research in this field. However, the editorial is criticized for its lack of a strong societal reference point, the comparative absence of focus on hybridization, and its failure to highlight structural factors impinging on the opposing logics in a broader neo-institutional framework. With reference to the Procrustean metaphor, it is argued that greater stress should be placed on the healthcare user in future health policy. Finally, the case of complementary and alternative medicine is set out which – while not explicitly mentioned in the editorial – most effectively concretizes the tensions at the heart of this analysis of healthcare.

An article about the new opportunities offered by the transition to customerizated marketing. Customerization is a new trend in marketing theory, but in business practice it has already a strong position. Today customerization most common in B2B-relationships, ensuring the reduction of transaction costs, working capital and marketing costs manufacturers and brand owners. However customerization has great potential for the implementation of marketing practices also in the consumer market. The problems in its implementation are related to the mismatch of customerization for institutions established practice e-commerce in Russia. These problems are at the same time slow down and speed up customerization of marketing. Customerization braking due to the high level of development of marketing infrastructure, which serves the preceding forms of promotion. Acceleration customerization due to the widening gap between customerizated and uncustomerizated forms of marketing. The article analyzed the causes, patterns and trends in the spread customerization, makes recommendations for its implementation in practice of Russian producers.

Patients want their personal needs to be taken into account. Accordingly, the management of care has long involved some degree of personalization. In recent times, patients' wishes have become more pressing in a moving context. As the population ages, the number of patients requiring sophisticated combinations of long-term care is rising. Moreover, we are witnessing previously unvoiced demands, preferences and expectations (eg, demand for information about treatment, for care complying with religious practices, or for choice of appointment dates). In view of the escalating costs and the concerns about quality of care, the time has now come to rethink healthcare delivery. Part of this reorganization can be related to customization: what is needed is a customized business model that is effective and sustainable. Such business model exists in different service sectors, the customization being defined as the development of tailored services to meet consumers' diverse and changing needs at near mass production prices. Therefore, its application to the healthcare sector needs to be seriously considered.

This paper presents an overview and critique of the traditional distinction between retail goods and services. Of particular concern is the use of the ''intangibility'' criterion as a basis for categorizing and conceptualizing retail and service businesses. The ''goods-services continuum'' provides little clarification as to the issues of retail classification or strategy development. In place of this continuum, the paper presents a schema based upon the utilities provided to consumers by retail businesses. This retail utility schema functions as a guide for theory and strategy formulation in retail and service businesses.

In traditional outdoor games, such as tag and hide-and-seek, children play in groups, and typically changes to the rules are negotiated fluidly, without disrupting the game flow. In contrast, games that are supported by interactive technology are usually rather static, not allowing for easy adaption towards the children’s narrative and desired rules. We present an iterative design process in which 65 children aged 5-12 participated in different iterations, concluding with the design of GameBaker. GameBaker is an application that allows children to modify game rules for Head Up Games, outdoor collocated games supported by interactive handheld devices. We show how children: understand how setting different game rules allows them to modify the game, are able to relate these to how the game is played, and enjoy doing so. This research paves the way towards allowing children to take control of outdoor game technology, to create their own variation of games as they have done for centuries...

In this paper we present a system that allows users to access digital libraries using small screen devices. Instead of providing users with a single hardcoded solution, we allow them to customize how the content is structured, formatted and viewed on the small display. The centre of our system is a tool that can be used to customize Greenstone Digital Library collections for small displays. To lower the entry level, this tool has been designed to provide an abstraction from Greenstone s low level architecture and other computing technologies, such as HTML and Java Script. We also place a strong emphasis on evaluation and incorporate users throughout the software development cycle. Lastly in the discussion, we speculate that by designing usable and customizable systems, there is the potential of breaking down the open source revenue model, which relies on providing services for systems that are hard to use and configure.
