In the last 2 decades, exciting new developments in dental materials and computer technology have led to the success of contemporary dental computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology. Several highly sophisticated chairside and laboratory CAD/CAM systems have been introduced or are under development. This article provides an overview of the development of various CAD/CAM systems. Operational components, methodologies, and restorative materials used with common CAD/CAM systems are discussed. Research data and clinical studies are presented to substantiate the clinical performance of these systems.

Successful implant placement at the time of extraction has been documented. Implant placement at the time of extraction was initially performed as a two-stage procedure often with barrier membranes and sophisticated second-stage surgical uncoverings. The authors describe the next generation of this technique, including atraumatic tooth removal with simultaneous root form, implant placement, and temporization at one appointment. This technique of "Immediate Total Tooth Replacement" allows for the maintenance of the bony housing and soft-tissue form that existed before extraction, while at the same time establishing a root form anchor in the bone for an esthetic restoration.

I'd like to start by thanking the conference organizers for asking me to speak here today. As I will argue in what follows, every invitation to write is -or can be -an invitation to think, to reflect, and to learn. The elements of any writing task -the topic, the audience, the occasion, the purpose -interact to construct a unique intellectual and social opportunity. As I was writing this paper, with this moment and this audience in mind, I thought in particular ways about my 30 years in the field of Writing Studies and about what we know about writing and why that knowledge matters. In the past three decades, there have been dramatic developments in the study and teaching of writing. Theorists, researchers, and teachers have created a complex and detailed account of writing by drawing on a rich variety of sources, including the classical rhetorical traditions of Greece and Rome, contemporary studies of cognition, the sociology of knowledge, research into academic and workplace writing, new literacy theories, the digital revolution, and the current cross-disciplinary fascination with discourse. The result is a body of knowledge about writing that has profound practical and pedagogical implications for teaching, thinking, and learning across the curriculum.

As most neoplatonic thinkers do, Nicholas of Cusa (1401-1464) provides manifold versions of his system. Towards the end of his life, while in Rome, he composed two short, synthetic and powerful texts, in which he presented one last overview of his thought. Accordingly, both the Compendium (1463) and De apice theoriae (1464) share this comprehensive all-encompassing perspective, conceiving the divine in its immanence and transcendence as posse ipsum. While commentators believe that this is only a new enigmatic name to designate the principle ? thus treating the issue as merely nominal ? others contend that, in light of this new enigmatic name, Nicholas of Cusa ? by formulating the principle as posse ipsum ? conceives a shorter (brevius), easier (facilius) and truer (verius) version of the triune productive dynamism of the divine in its immanence and transcendence. The present paper addresses this issue by presenting both of Cusanus? aforementioned opuscules, and by seeking to establish their common elements. Furthermore, this article evaluates the possibility of a novelty in Cusanus? system of thought, considering posse ipsum as his fi nal enigmatic name for the divine.

This article aims to analyse a little known, yet extremely important, phenomenon of reception of
Сlassical antiquity and its legacy in the Middle Ages. It deals with the Compendium historiae in genealogia Christi, a biblical anthology created at the end of the 12th
century by Peter of Poitiers, theologian and teacher at the Cathedral school of Paris. In
the prologues, Peter himself declared that the purpose of his work was to help his students to fix in memory the complex
biblical material. For this reason the text was written in a simplified and resumptive way, and it was also accompanied by an unusual apparatus of images that visualized the main concepts which the students should learn and remember. Peter seems to have derived the figurative system from Greek and Roman mnemonic treatises. Through selected case
studies, I aim to demonstrate how

system, tracing the connections between ancient theory and mediaeval practice.

Oil and gas production projects, both onshore and offshore, are frequently capital-intensive endeavors with significant financial and environmental consequences if they fail catastrophically. As a result, to ensure that production continues in a safe and reliable manner, an efficient and effective maintenance management technique is essential. This study looks at the current literature on CBM development and applications in the oil and gas industry. CBM is critical to the seamless, uninterrupted, efficient, and safe operation of oil and gas operations, according to new research. Because of the complex and interwoven nature of oil and gas facilities, detailed CBM plans with real-time condition monitoring data collection, analysis, and decision making are required to offer precise information of required maintenance intervals. As a result, more efficient industrial equipment can be used with greater assurance and safety.

T he service quality in the public sector is one of the main factors of social welfare as part of government policies and strategies, where the assessment is vital for control, establishment of improvements and meeting the needs of society. From a literature review, a descriptive study was done, based upon the assessment of utilities that were published in articles, government reports and newspaper reports, most of them Latin-American. A strategic review process of evaluating the quality of public sector service was carried out, supported in the design of a matrix formed by the relation of the weaknesses, opportunities, strengths and threats (SWOT) identified. As result, strategies, objectives and indicators were presented which serve as inputs for the design of improvements in governance of services, with high relevance to citizens, usefulness to society in general, supported primarily on an evaluation process that incorporates information as a factor of value to the state and the citizen.

Compendium is a knowledge mapping application equipped with graphical representations of ideas and arguments. Extension of the processes in Compendium with Semantic Web technologies can be beneficial for the intelligent searching of concepts or ideas, and supporting decision making process. This paper presents the extended Compendium which exploits the Semantic Web for knowledge representation and user interaction. The result evaluated by the experts and users showed that the extension eases and streamlines the decision making process.

Structural variants (SV) have been linked to several important bovine disease phenotypes, but due to the difficulty of their accurate detection with standard sequencing approaches, their role in shaping economically important traits across global cattle breeds is largely unexplored. Optical mapping is an alternative approach for mapping SVs that has been shown to have higher sensitivity than DNA sequencing approaches. The aim of this project was to use optical mapping to develop a high quality database of structural variation across cattle breeds from different geographical regions and origins, to enable further studies of the important roles of SV in cattle.To do this we generated 100X Bionano optical mapping data for 18 cattle of nine different ancestries, three continents and covering both major cattle lineages. Mitigating adverse selection of high default potential borrowers continues to plague P2P lending platforms. In order to understand which factors determine borrower credit status (ie. loan approval, loan repayment potential, risk of default), this study renders an Artificial Neural Network Model on one of the most popular P2P lending platforms. Our results show that the interest rate, the ratio of loan to income and the loan term are the most important indicators in reflecting the borrower’s credit status, while the frequency of inquiries, the borrowing category have a relatively low degree of importance. his investigation was performed in order to determine organizational productivity in the mid upper industry of the Iribarren municipality of Lara State in Venezuela during the period from January to June, 2006. To carry out this field study of descriptive type, it was taken as sample 24 companies to which a questionnaire that we named POE (initials in Spanish for Organizational Productivity in Company) was applied and made starting from Kastner, Portela and Fragachan studies (1986). The data compiled were organized, codified and tabulated; for their analysis, both absolute and relative figures, were related allowing to study the variable. Results show that the components of the Model to determine the organizational productivity used in this study (efficacy, efficiency and work climate) are situated in an appraisal scale between little (30%) and mean (70%) orgaiiizational productivity in the mid upper industry of the aboye mentioned municipality. Besides, it was evident that work in team was not promoted, few recognition to tlie workers performance and scarce strategies in order to encourage participation in the process, therefore, results showed little performance in activities to their improvement and their technological updating .

This article deals with the topic regarding franchises in Venezuela. Reference is made of the work area in which this type of business takes place, being the starting point the acknowledgment of a determinant variable in the socioeconomic structure of the country, as it is unemployment. If it happens to be a fareaching structural phenomenon, it greatly conditions and encourage unconventional labor offers barely adhered to current legal specifications. It is particularly important to identify the working conditions of a group of low impact franchises functioning in this country (Kioskos, stands, and commercial premises measuring from 40 to 180). According to this criterion, a random sample of 17 franchises was taken in the Venezuelan cities of Valencia (9) and Barquisimeto (8). Items representing labor relations within these franchises were identified as follows: salary, working day, type of labor agreement, fringe benefits and occupational hygiene. Finally, an analysis is made of the working conditions in these enterprises, concluding with a set of reflections about this type of labor offer.

Writing groups have been espoused as a means of supporting early-career researchers as they face the challenges of establishing research profiles, attaining job security, gaining funding, and collaborating with other researchers. This paper presents an evaluative study of a writing group in a central learning and teaching development unit at a metropolitan Australian university. The group is unusual because its membership includes both nonacademic and academic staff from multiple disciplinary backgrounds. A participatory action research strategy was adopted to develop and evaluate the writing group, incorporate critical reflection, collaborate using a wiki, analyse qualitative data ('speed dating'), and produce word clouds to triangulate results. Discussing both the process of establishing the writing group and the evaluation strategy has value for departments, centres, and faculty-based groups wanting to develop the scholarship of teaching, support academic and non-academic staff in becoming active researchers, build cohesion, foster interdisciplinary dialogue, and create communities of practice around writing for early-career researchers.

Acute spinal cord injuries commonly seen in veterinary patients include vascular, compressive, and concussive injuries. Vascular lesions, or infracts, are usually caused by fibrocartilagenous emboli. Concussive and compressive injuries have a variety of pathologies, including intervertebral disk disease, fractures, and luxations (dislocations) of the vertebral column. Although considerable controversy exists over the most appropriate way to manage acute spinal cord injuries, early surgical intervention or decompression remains the best treatment option in managing acute compressive injuries in veterinary patients. High-dose methylprednisolone sodium succinate, an established treatment in human medicine, is falling out of favor because studies have shown little therapeutuc benefit and severe adverse effects.

This compendium presents information on speed as a contributor to rural road crashes. It provides information on treatments that can be used to address speed, either at key locations (curves, intersections or the approach to towns) or for routes in general. The main focus is on road-engineering-based treatments, but information is also provided on other approaches that may be used (e.g. enforcement and in-vehicle devices).

Although naturally occurring hypothyroidism is very rare in cats, iatrogenic hypothyroidism is a recognized complication of treatment for hyperthyroidism. However, confirming the diagnosis of hypothyroidism in cats is not generally straightforward. The potential for false-negative and false-positive results exists with all thyroid function tests, especially in older cats that may have concurrent nonthyroidal illness. Therefore, all thyroid function test results must be interpreted in light of the cat's history, clinical signs, and other laboratory findings. If a low to low-normal serum thyroxine (T4) value is found in a cat that has been treated for hyperthyroidism, repeating the total T4 analysis, determining free T4 and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) concentrations, or performing a TSH stimulation test or thyroid scintigraphy may be needed to confirm the diagnosis.

Lastly, an evaluation of students’ numeracy competence and their senior high school readiness was presented by Mr. Jestoni C. Orque which provided insights on the readiness of junior high school completers to partake the last two years of their basic secondary education.
