This paper draws an overview of rail passenger service disruptions which lead to service delays. Some findings on the train service delays in some parts of Asia and Western Europe are presented. The types and causes of service disruptions are analyzed across some rail network operators. The equivalent cost measures of delays done by past studies are also discussed. These costs are expressed in terms of monetary and time value. Finally, the benefits obtained from some improvement projects, are briefly addressed. In total, this review suggests that there is an urgent need to minimize service delays for passenger trains, which solution approaches may be obtained from a mathematical model.

Solid waste collection remains the main concern in urban planning, involving engineering strategy and approach. Collection of solid waste, which takes 70-85% of total solid waste management cost, if being managed carelessly will result in longer travel distance and inefficient schedule design. The consequences are high cost management and air and river pollution. The main objective of this review paper is to collect information regarding solid waste collection and transportation in Ipoh and suggest a proper route optimization which emphasizes on recycling of generated solid waste. Solid waste recycling is one of the main components of integrated solid waste management (ISWM) which has not been practiced well in majority of the cities in Malaysia. Ipoh city consists of 22 zones, forming an area of 643 sq.km. The generation rate of 0.85 kg/capita per day is increasing by 5.4% per annum, a rapid increment of waste generated. A day-to-day assessment on the collection practices are highlighted which involve curb collection from house-to-house and backyard collection in industrial areas. Collector vehicles is parked overnight in a depot located in Buntong and will daily collect and dispose accumulated collected waste to a dumping site in Bercham. While all stages from collection and final disposal are finished in 5 hours, no integrated recycling activities were found in Ipoh due to lack of ISWM. Therefore, a new optimized route which provides specified time, crew and vehicles for collection of recyclables is suggested via application of Geographical Information System (GIS).

Business Engineering has evolved in importance within the firm and education. Although business engineering is now an established field, the distinction between business engineering and other engineering fields is relatively immature and requires further investigation. There is also yet unclear body of knowledge of business engineering. The purpose of this paper is to clarify the distinction between business engineering and other engineering applications to business enterprises and to propose a preliminary body of knowledge of business engineering based on previous research. The idea of the framework is to employ engineering principles to design and improve a business entity by translating strategy into the integration of process, organization, and technology for creating sustainable competitive advantage.

On-line shopping is a current trend on the meadow of E-Business and is certainly going to be the outlook of shopping in the world. Most of the companies are organizing their on-line portals to advertise their products on-line. This method can be used to store up the details of the catalog, upgrade the inventory based on the sale details, produce revenue for sales, reports periodically etc. This is one included system that contains the user component, employee and the admin component (used by the administrators for performing admin level functions such as adding new items to the catalog, changing the price of an item etc.). This system runs on several terminals, offers a GUI interface and connects to a common database(s). This system is gathering the Sentiment analysis from the social media for all the book and conduct Collaborative Filtering technique to know the user book personal interest and use hybrid technique to anticipate the customer choice from the ecommerce data and recommend a book to the customers.

The main intention of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of IQRA' learning by using multimedia application for children between the age of 5 to 8 years. The researchers have adapted the Principles of Persuasive Technology into this application to increase its effectiveness. Persuasive Technology refers to any interactive computing system designed to change people's attribute or behavior. A Usability Test and Heuristic Evaluation are performed to assess the application. The assessment includes interactivity, navigation, design, color, and integration of multimedia elements. It is found that by adapting the Principles of Persuasive Technology, the multimedia has a significant impact in educating the children to learn IQRA' effectively.

This paper presents the comparison physical study of solid waste of Bottom Ash Aggregate (BAA) and Washed Bottom Ash Aggregate (WBAA) as fine aggregate in concrete. The BAA is a waste material that is taken from electric coal power plant and the basic source material of WBAA is a treated bottom ash. The BAA is fully submerged in clean and clear water for 3 days to produce a WBAA with low amount of carbon. This WBAA with low carbon composition is utilised to produce concrete with less percentage of carbon usage. Low amount of carbon can reduce energy in building, reduce environmental impact and can be supported to green material in concrete. So that, this two types of bottom ash were studied their physical properties and then compared. The aim of the study is to investigate the physical comparison of BAA and WBAA in producing concrete or concrete applications. The results of the sieve analysis and fineness modulus of BAA and WBAA were discussed. The calculated of fineness modulus of BAA and WBAA are 4.93 and 3.65 respectively, which are more than 3.5 and it is considered very coarse. Finally, it is concluded that this both aggregate is potential for utilise in concrete and mortar or concrete/mortar application.

Die Gesundheitsausgaben machen in den westlichen Ländern einen beachtlichen Anteil an der gesamtwirtschaftlichen Wertschöpfung aus. Aufgrund der explodierenden Kosten üben Regierungen weltweit zunehmenden Druck auf die Medikamentenpreise aus. Pharmaunternehmen werden deshalb gezwungen neben ihrem Produktmanagement auch ihr Kundenbeziehungsmanagement (Customer Relationship Management) zu überdenken, um wettbewerbsfähig zu bleiben. Eine vollständige Ausrichtung am Kundenprozeß wird durch Healthcare-Portale erzielt, welche die Wertschöpfungskette der Pharmaindustrie über eine gemeinsame Informations-und Kommunikationsplattform zu integrieren versuchen, um dadurch Kosten zu senken und neue Leistungen zu generieren.Der vorliegende Beitrag beleuchtet die heutigen Defizite in der Pharmaindustrie am Beispiel der Pharmaunternehmen, Krankenhausapotheken und Großhändler und zeigt, an welchen Stellen in der Wertschöpfungskette Healthcare-Portale zu einem verbesserten Customer Relationship Management beitragen können.

Diese muss drei Fragen beantworten: (1) Welche Kundensegmente und welche Mitarbeiter (Rollen) der Kunden sollen mit dem Portal bedient werden? (2) Welche Prozesse dieser Kundenmitarbeiter haben das grösste Potential und welche Produkte und Dienstleistungen bieten ein hierfür geeignetes Leistungsbündel? (3) Welche Rolle(n) kann das Unternehmen im Geschäftsnetzwerk spielen und an welchen Stellen empfiehlt sich der Aufbau eigener oder die Teilnahme an bestehenden Portalen. • Auf Prozessebene müssen Entscheidungen hinsichtlich des Portaldesign beantwortet werden: (1) Welche Aktivitäten und welche Chronologie umfasst der Kundenprozess und wie wird dieser analysiert? (2) Wie wird der Kundenprozess im Portal abgebildet und welche Leistungsbündel müssen im Portal enthalten (3) Welche Leistungen im Kundenprozess werden vom Unternehmen selbst in das Portal eingebracht und welche Leistungen werden von externen Web Services bezogen?Auf Systemebene umfasst dies die Definition der Portalarchitektur: (1) Welche Applikationen sind direkt oder indirekt durch den Kundenprozess involviert? (2) Welche Komponenten umfasst eine für Portale geeignete Integrationsarchitektur? (3) Zur Beantwortung dieser Fragen existiert die Business Networking Architektur, die eine statische Sicht auf die Elemente der drei Ebenen Strategie, Prozess und IS bietet. Zur systematischen Entwicklung von Prozessportalen wurde die vorliegende Methode entwickelt, die ein generalisiertes Rahmenwerk darstellt, das die wesentlichen Techniken zur Entwicklung von Prozessportalen in drei Phasen auf den drei Ebenen abbildet. Sie baut auf den Erfahrungen aus den bilateralen Projekten der Partnerunternehmen im CC Business Networking auf und ergänzt die Business Networking Architektur um eine methodische Vorgehensweise zur Umsetzung. Redesigning organizational processes and their coordination often involves the construction of conceptual models, empirical models, and change alternatives. Modeling of organizational processes can be a very time-consuming activity, and during the redesign phase of an organization, time is a scarce resource. During the phase of translating process models of an organization into simulation models for analysis, diagnosis, and design, a lot of time is spent on translating conceptual models into simulation models. Furthermore, the resulting simulation models often lack any resemblance to the original conceptual models. This makes the communication, verification, and change activities within the simulation study quite difficult. This paper describes a template that was built in the simulation language Arena, which decreases the gap between the conceptualization activities and the translation into a simulation model. This paper describes the requirements for the template, a prototype implementation, and a case example to test the applicability of the template.
