Certainly, it is not easy to move some conflicts forward and achieve a solution, but evidently there are many tools to do so among which are various forms of Conflict Transformations as well. Conflicts are producing divisions among people and they divide societies which have previously been developing together and shared both resources and final products. It is our aim to research how such division lines which are a direct outcome of conflicts have and could be broken down in order to start a procedure of development and thus reconciliation after all. Also it is necessary to see what tools and possibilities we have in various conflicts by researching and applying the most prominent ones which are able to produce the necessary changes. Our aim will be to research the most advanced conflicts in the EU neighbourhood and The Middle East and be able to understand them and apply their solutions to some other conflicts. Whilst having a conflict in the EU neighbourhood in Ukraine, we necessarily should not forget to help advance and resolve other conflicts which are awaiting it for many decades. In specific we will research the tools used to resolve conflicts by EU in the cases of Kosovo some Middle Eastern conflicts and ultimately its potentials in Ukraine. Although such post-conflict countries are among the poorest regions in the world, they all had a stable economy, administration and the rule of law previously which is the most necessary tool and precondition for any kind of development after all. Now in our case studies we would like to point out the most prominent and positive examples which could then later be applied to conflicts in other countries and in specific in the Middle East, North Africa and other regions. Even the smallest advances in societies or in the ways of communication can bring positive outcomes in conflicts and ultimately give a hope to citizens for development and prosperity in their own country. This is also very important for frozen conflicts in which the idea of reconciliation is lost and hope is gone thus leaving societies far from transition, conflict transformation and development possibilities.

The paper mainly looks at the two-edged saw nature of peace building measures that are usually introduced and implemented in post-conflict societies. It makes the point that if the implementation of such measures are not than with the most care, they can produce unintended negative results as much as they present a good opportunity for sustainable peace in post-conflict areas. It ends with some recommendations.

A misunderstanding or a disagreement, an incompatible situation or a competition between opponents that can generate into violence, conflict is a constant feature of human society. It can lead, depending on the context, to development or, on the contrary, to the dissolution of the organization or society. From the international relations’ point of view, a conflict is a dynamic process based on the clashing of interests of the international system’s participants. After the end of the Cold War, the change of conditions and determinations at the international level imprinted a specific evolution of the international conflict by transforming it in accordance with the conversion recorded by the global power architecture. In the same logic can be explained the reverse of the conditioning relationship, respectively of transforming the structure of the international system depending on the stake and the magnitude of the international conflict.

Originally emerging from the amalgamation of varied disciplines, the field of Peace and Conflict Studies has evolved and transformed throughout the years. In its current configuration, it boasts a plethora of analytical tools, theories, and formal as well as informal processes for achieving lasting peace. The following paper details the different historical phases making up the field. It also explores international war, deconstructs conflict, examines theories of Peace and Conflict Studies, and distinguishes between conflict management, resolution, and transformation. It additionally elaborates on informal methods for conflict resolution while making the case for multileveled and collective efforts to transform societal structures, cultures, and mindsets, and to instill transformative peace

With the end of the Cold War, a dramatic increase in the number of conflicts that have erupted for various reasons has prompted both statesmen and academics to develop methods and approaches to prevent, control and eventually transform such conflicts into a lasting peace. These quests have helped to create a wider knowledge about the causes, dynamics and phases of the conflicts, as well as paved way for an understanding that appropriate methods must be applied for each phase of a conflict according to its dynamics. The development of effective conflict management and analysis mechanisms requires a deep understanding of the causes and characteristic of a conflict and the application of appropriate methods to those causes. Otherwise, misreading the conflict and linking it to the wrong causes can have a great influence on the transition of the conflict from a level of non-conformity to a level of violence. Therefore, the aim of this thesis is to elaborate the various approaches to conflict transformation and examine that to what extent and in which conditions these methods are effective in transforming the conflicts.
This 3-day conference aimed at exploring and analyzing: a) various ethnic/national/state conflict situations from a comparative perspective, b) alternative modes of understanding/learning from the conflicts and dealing with the violent past, so as to achieve resolution of the conflict and reconciliation in society, c) ways of bridging the gap between disciplines and specializations through which conflict is studied separately from reconciliation. Political scientists, sociologists, anthropologists, psychologists and lawyers typically study different aspects of conflicts and reconciliation processes, However, in order to provide effective answers to complex problems, these dimensions ought to be integrated into a broad interdisciplinary perspective, d) theoretical and policy-relevant perspectives towards developing a holistic approach to reconciliation,
