Thanks for your prayers.

Encouraging words of the day:
For each new morning with its light,
Father, we thank thee.
For rest and shelter of the night,
Father, we thank thee.
For health and food, for love and friends,
For everything thy goodness sends,
Father in heaven, we thank thee.

Thank you for your prayers for my family and friends who are experiencing a terrible fire in the Ruidoso Downs/Hondo Valley area of New Mexico.  The fire is 35% contained. They are expecting it to be fully contained by Saturday. Total acreage is 10,341 acres. That is a huge fire! 8 miles long and about 2 wide.  Over 400 personnel are working the fire. The winds are expected to increase today. The Forest Service is still investigating the cause although they are saying it is "human caused".

Although I keep checking the internet and family about the fire, I am still sewing.  It’s “One-Flower Wednesday.”  Here’s my flower of the week:
I have received a beautiful flower from my swap partner in the "Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap."  The picture does not do it justice.  Some of the hexies are embossed and textured, the colors are beautiful and I am so lucky to own this hexie.  Thanks, Shruti.

I finished Block 12 of the “Layer Cake Quilt-Along.”  This block was designed by Joan Lucchese and is our last block in the quilt-along.  Now we have to figure out how to put the blocks together.

Giveaways I've run into while checking blogs:

"Fabric Seeds"  has a charm pack to giveaway – ends April 15th.

"We Love Quilting"  is having a surprise box giveaway.

"Kool Beenz" is giving away a jelly roll - ends April 8th.

"Sew Fabulous" has a fat quarter bundle to giveaway – ends April 30th

"Raggedy Station" is celebrating the opening of a new by having a giveaway
of 12 fat quarters and a gorgeous lace button – ends April 8th

"1 Choice 4 Quilting" has 6 fat quarters equaling 4 yards of fabric to give away to two winners – ends April 10th.

Nothing is happening with my UFOs, as usual.  One of these days I'll surprise you by actually accomplishing something.

That is all.

I read today that they think the fire was caused by some sort of grinder (can't remember exactly). I hope the winds don't cause the fire to expand too much. Prayers are continued for friends and family.
I love the hexie you made this week. The hexie your received from Shruti is wonderful. The colors in your layer cake are perfect!!

So many sad things happening in the world lately. I hope they get the fire under control soon. Your flower is lovely, makes me think of late summer/early autumn. Beautiful!

One of my sons is a ranger and spends summers fire fighting. It is scary when homes are involved. Our prayers continue.
