A Granny Gift & Busy Work

A while back my Aunt Carol emailed and asked me if I wanted
Granny's old Mixer!
What do you think I said?
I was so excited!
And look......it has a blender!
This little jewel is going to "Our Little Hilton" with all of Granny's other stuff!

My Uncle Joe makes a great garden and they also gave me lots of veges!
Thank you to my family for these sweet gifts!

I have been so busy this summer with lots of things
including my granddaughters!
It tickles me that even though "Sweet Teen" is driving,
they came to my house almost everyday this summer!

And my oldest Grandson!
If you are wondering what he is doing.....he is throwing the biscuits to the birds!!

And my youngest grandson ...............
has Paw Paw's straw hat on!
He loves anything to do with his Paw Paw!
And he will have a little Brother or Sister soon!

My little garden hasn't done great this year but it still keeps me busy!

I planted several things in my barrels and they have done great!
This is my cucumbers.

And my lettuce!
I love picking my own salad stuff!

These are some of the flowers from the seeds  that Darla sent me!

I LOVE fresh tomatoes out of the garden!

I planted my gourds in a barrel and just let them grow across my old swing!
I think they grow a foot a day!

Oh yes, I wanted to show you this!
My Dad gave me this bedspread too.
I thought it looked perfect on my rocker!

Say hello to Polly (my friend and crochet teacher)!
I am loving my crochet class.
I am making my new grandbaby something real special
but can't show you until after the shower.
It is at the end of the month!
If it wasn't for Polly I would not be able to do it!

Of course I am still making all kinds of Dish cloths!
This one is a granny square!

Our blueberries came and went within 3 weeks!
I froze several quarts for blueberry muffins in the winter!

I made a pound cake yesterday!
I sliced it up and put some slices in the freezer
and the rest will be eaten this weekend!

This is my strawberries.
I have put them in my raised bed garden since this picture was took.

And I have been hand quilting!!!
This is a quilt top that I found at a thrift store.

I try to do 15 minutes a day on it!
Thank you Patricia for all of your encouragement!
It is because of her that I am doing this and I am not good but
I am loving it!

Today I am thankful for .........Busy Work!

Have a great weekend!
I am planning one myself!!
Oh by the way, I have not been able to comment again!!!
What is going on with blogger?
Don't think I am not reading because I am!!!

No Sew Fleece Baby Blanket

I have discovered that I need to do things that can be finished quickly.

I went to a baby shower a few months ago and saw a no sew blanket
done and it was so cute. A young teenager had made it and I just loved it.
Hers was a bigger blanket made for a crib.

So I went to "You Tube" and learned how to make a small baby blanket.

I  needed a baby gift for a sweet little friend
and wanted to make her something from my heart.

So I got busy and had so much fun!!!

Here is my finished blanket.
I just love it!

Here it is ready to put in a gift bag!

Then my little "Angel" spent the afternoon with me
and she saw the extra fabric I had and wanted to learn how to make one.

So she got busy and together we made another blanket.
It is smaller but is just perfect because "Angel" helped make it.

Didn't she do a great job?

Then I got busy and made a couple of burp cloths to go with my gift.

I just love to do projects that I can see finished quickly.

So here is my gift blanket, "Angels" blanket and the
burp cloths all made and ready to give away.
I had so much fun making these gifts with "Angel".

Today I am thankful for.........
                                 making memories with "Angel".

Quilt #6
Just let me know if you are interested in one of these quilts.
There are many more where these came from.
I just thought I would show a few at a time.

Daddy loves to go to yard sales and thrift stores.
Look what he found at a yard sale for me!

And look at this very very old quilt that he found for 1.00!!!!
It needs some work but Daddy loves a challenge.

Today I am thankful........that Daddy found the love of Granny's quilts so much that he learned to make them.

I am a member over at Pins & Needles and I posted about Vicki's chicken scratch!
Make sure and visit here.

I have been having issues with my TMJ and Vicki (bff) went out of her way to bring me
a bowl of potato soup and the chicken scratch instruction book that
she copied just for me! Wasn't that sweet?
There is nothing like a "real" best friend!
I am so blessed.

What do you think???

Do these look like baby shower prizes?
My daughter Maranda & I were in charge of the prizes
for the games at a baby shower we helped with.

I saw these at the Dollar Tree and fell in love with them.
We went online to see if you were suppose to give baby items to be
given to the mother or gifts for the winners of the games.
It said either.  So we decided to make up some cute prizes that
anyone would enjoy.

We picked up some flower seeds, some candy bouquets and
cookies on a stick.

Then we added clear rocks and a cute little picture of a babies feet.

I just thought they were darling even if we did do them.

The best part is everything came from the Dollar Tree.

We added zinnia, marigold, and sunflower seed packs
in this little garden container.

So what do you think???
Aren't they so cute?
This is the tag that we added.
On the back it says:
Thank you for coming.

We had so much fun helping with the baby shower.

Today I am thankful for.........newborn babies.
