Life

I asked "Sweet Hunter" last night......
How did we get here?
He said, Life.
And he's so right.
You never know from day to day
what is going to happen.
I would have never thought in my wildest days
that "Sweet Angel" would be here.
Bless her heart.
She is in the hospital.
Her parents had to call 911 Monday and
from there she was admitted to the hospital.
She has been diagnosed with Gastropresis
with underlying issues.
We don't have answers to those yet.
Right now, we have to get nourishment in her.
She hasn't ate since Christmas night except a few bites
that we forced her to eat.
We are trusting and believing for a miracle.
While she is at the hospital, Brother is with us.
"Sweet Hunter" gets him up, gets him ready,
feeds him, takes him to school
and picks him up from school.

This boy keeps us laughing!
You should hear some of the conversations
with him and his "POPS"
Please keep praying for his sister!
We need her back!

Our Pastor came by the hospital today and he texted me
this verse after he left.
Isaiah 41:10
Fear thou not; for I am with thee:
be not dismayed; for I am thy God:
I will strengthen thee;
yea, I will help thee;
yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my
righteousness.

A Surprise & A Gorgeous Quilt

My day started out going to see this little basketball player!
Our 7 Year Old Grandson, "Brother"!

He is a great little ball player!

During the game "May May" & "Little D" came too!

After the game we were all noticing "Little D's" shirt!
Look at "Angel & Brother" reading it.

It took us all a while but then we realized what his shirt said!
"Big Brothers Rule!"

Then "Little D" told us that his
Mommy had a baby in her tummy!!!

Our 2 year old Grandson then showed
us where his baby sister or brother is!

When "Sweet Hunter" found out when our new Grandbaby was due you will not believe what he said......
(or maybe you will). He said,
"I told you girls not to plan anything during deer season!!!!"
We laughed & laughed. He is so funny!

I didn't even notice this beautiful quilt at the church
where the ballgame was until we got through taking pictures.
Can you see the Cross?
I just thought this was amazing considering
that I was just thinking how very blessed our little family is.
4 Grandchildren and one on the way.
We are so excited and so very blessed.

Today I am thankful for .................blessings!

A Special Quilty Day

Here is our Quilt block that we are making this month with our favorite quilt store.

Here it is on the sample quilt that they have hanging on the wall.

Our day started by picking up my grands & heading to my Mom's house. Before we left Mom gave Angel a cute little purse.

Mom was showing Angel & Sweet Teen the baby quilts she is making. You have got to look at Brother. I don't think he really wanted to be with us that day. Here he is yawning.

Here we are at the quilt store. This is my grands first trip to see this store.
They loved it.
Brother was fine as long as he had his ipod to play with.

When we go to this little class there is always a Show n' tell. I was so proud of the quilt that Sweet Teen made for me that I brought it along and asked her if she cared if I showed them.
So look who was first with the show n' tell. I was so proud. Everyone could not believe that she was 15 and already quilting.
After the class the girls were admiring this panel.

Look at this photograph that was hanging on the wall. Pretty house, huh?

Oh my goodness! Look at this little quilt!
The quilt store is actually offering a class on how to do this.
Then we headed to Hancock's Fabric store. My mother bought the girls some fabric and she didn't leave Brother out! Look what he picked! Underneath that fabric is the ipod!

Sweet Teen has her fabric all picked out.
Angel got some too!
Did I tell you all that Angel is making a quilt?

And back to my Moms we go. The girls were so impressed with Mom's Dutch doll quilt!
They listened to every word. By now the ipod is dead and Brother is in the other room ready to go! He was so funny. We had a great day with my Mom! It was a special quilty day. It was a good day.

Second Chances

I just thought that I would show you what was on Sweet Teens bed.
ST made the Annie Doll in the middle and the elephant on the left. You saw the bunny on the right side the other day on my blog. It was made about 15 years ago for ST by my best friend Vicki. She reminded me the other day that the bunny is made from a shirt that she used to wear. Vicki told me that when she held ST when she was a baby that she would just stare at it and point and feel of it. I loved rehearsing that story so I thought I would pass it on.
And now Sweet Teen is sewing up a storm herself, 15 years later.
Look at these little booties, burp cloth and bib to match. The booties are my very favorite.
Doesn't she do a good job?

I know that I talk about my grandchildren all the time but this is one proud Gran!
I went to pick the grands up the other day and they had been sewing. Just look at all of this.
There are bibs, burp cloths, pillows, my quilt, cell phone holders, wallet and a pin cushion.

Sweet Teen made this quilt "just for me"!
I could not believe what a good job she did all on her own.
I will treasure this forever.
Just look at this! Isn't it beautiful?
Thank you Sweet Teen!

And look at Angel. Sweet Teen is teaching her to sew too!
Look at this little pillow.
She did such a great job. 10 years old and sewing! Wow.
This is a pillow, bib, and burp cloth to match.
I can't help myself. I am so proud.
I could not believe this! The left one is a wallet ST made for Angel.
The middle one is a cell phone holder and the other is for the ipod!

Angel made this pin cushion too!
While I was bragging on the girls.....Brother kept saying GRAN, GRAN, GRAN!
I finally said, What Brother?
He said, come and see what I made!
So here we go upstairs!

He said, "See Gran, I made these wrestlers and they have big muscles on their shoulders!"
I laughed and laughed. Kids are so sweet! I told Brother that he did a great job!!
I can't help it.....my grands are amazing!

SNIPPETS FROM MY HEART
When my children were small it seemed that I was always so busy since I had 4 children. My Mom had always told me how she played with us when we were small. I can remember popcorn after school, hot chocolate on snow days, paper dolls and Barbie's. Looking back when I was raising my children I wish I had played more. It seemed I was always in a rush. If I could go back I would hug them more. I wish I had knew how fast time would go and they would be all grown up so soon. That might be why I enjoy my Grands so much. I love being a Gran! It is like my second chance. Sometimes I wish I could fix everything for my children when things go wrong but when they are grown it is time to let them go. I have always wanted to rescue them from any hurt but then there comes a day when you realize that the only way that they can find their way is to make their own mistakes and learn from them. Love them. Play with them. Talk to them. Listen to them. Have fun and treasure every moment because before you blink your eyes they will be grown. My hearts desire was to be a good wife and a good mother and now a good grandmother. When my children were small I had a frame that I cross stitched that said:
I hope my children look back on today
And see a Mother who had time to play.
There will be years for cleaning and cooking
For children grow up while we're not looking.

Today Granny Is Smiling

I truly believe that Granny was smiling down on today.
I know that you have all saw this picture many times but I just love the look on her face in this picture. I still feel the love from her.
This was about 2 years ago. I want you to notice "Sweet Teen".
I wonder if she would have thought that today she would be making quilts.
She didn't seem interested back then but she is so excited about sewing now.
Here Granny is showing me some of her quilts and "Sweet Teen" is just reading her book.
Even "Brother" is working one of Granny's word puzzle books. And "Angel" is taking pictures of it all. That was then.

And this was today.
I went to pick the kids up so I could spend some time with them before school starts next week.
Just look at those sweet faces!
We took them out to eat and then my Dad wanted me to bring them to his house.

He told "Sweet Teen" & "Angel" that he had something for them.
We started in the trunk of his car with some sheets for the back of quilts.
Even "Brother" acted excited!

Then he took them in the house and he had got some of Granny's things together to give them.
Most of the things were gifts from you bloggers. The little Singer Tin case he is showing them there was given to Granny from my best friend Vicki. My Dad wanted "Sweet Teen" to have it.
She just kept saying "Thank you, Thank you."

Here he is showing her the 2 sewing machine covers that bloggers made for Granny.
He told her that she could pick one and he would keep one.
He also gave her some of the squares that some of the bloggers had cut for Granny that she never got to use. I wanted to raise my hand and say...."What about me?" But honestly we all are so proud of "Sweet Teen" and now even "Angel" is learning to sew. I think my dad which is their Great Grandfather knew that "Sweet Teen" would make something out of these things.

Daddy hasn't sewn since Granny has been gone but this past weekend he did start cutting some fabric. So I think he is about ready to start. I was glad to hear that. For a long time I was the only quilter in Granny's family and then Daddy started sewing. Granny was so proud of him. One time she kiddingly told me that maybe it would keep him busy! lol

"Brother" even acted interested in all this sewing stuff!
"Sweet Teen" & "Angel" was so excited and could not wait to get to my house to get it all out.
I could not help but think of Granny and how she had to be looking down on us and smiling. I miss her so much but she is so much alive in our family. I really don't think when "Sweet Teen" was reading that book sitting on Granny's couch, while me and Granny were talking quilting............I really don't think she ever knew she would be following in Granny's footsteps. I think Granny is so happy to know that "ST" is getting some of her fabric and gifts.
*********************
I have to remind you about Granny's verse that I gave her one day when she was aggravated at her sewing machine and said she didn't have faith. She told me over and over how she had that verse in her heart forever.

"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
Philippians 4:13

I also have to tell you that "Sweet Teen" is my oldest grandchild. Since the day that she could understand what I was saying I have taught her that same Bible verse. I just think of how amazing that it is that they both have that Bible verse in their hearts and now "ST" is following in Granny's footsteps. I hear the excitement in her voice about sewing and it reminds of me of Granny's excitement about quilting.

SMILE GRANNY SMILE!
Granny's 91 year old sister joined her in heaven yesterday.
Please keep the family in your prayers.

Projects & Gifts

My blogging friends are really something special.
Look at what Martha sent me. She is the friend that knitted me 2 scarves back in the winter. I actually cannot wait to go to Gatlinburg in December just so I can wear my scarves! She also sent me a Starbucks mug with them. So here is what she sent me this weekend. Another Starbucks mug so I will have one for hubby! She also sent me some Nutella. I had never heard of it until I saw it on her blog. Oh my goodness! It is delicious. It is a hazelnut spread with a hint of chocolate! I LOVE it! She also sent 2 sweet cards. One was for when Granny passed away and she just put it in with this package. What timing. I needed that. I sure do miss Granny. Thank you Martha!

I am trying to clean out my home and declutter and I came across this little bunny rabbit that my best friend Vicki made for "Sweet Teen" when she was born. That would be 15 years ago! Wow. How time flies. I thought since "Sweet Teen" is older and into sewing it might be time to let her have this. It has been a treasure for all of my grands but now it will be a treasure for "Sweet Teen". I hope she saves it for her children one day. Wouldn't that be something? Right now it is on her bed. She loves it. Thank you Vicki! Great memories.

"Sweet Teen" has been sewing the whole weekend! She had won a give away from Marydon's blog and she received lots of fabric and goodies so she is going to town making stuff. She sent me this picture today of a pillow that she made.

This is so precious to me! "Sweet Teen" is teaching "Angel" to sew and she taught her how to make a pin cushion. "Angel" was so proud that she sent this picture from her cell phone. This was made from the little squares that were in the give away box. "Sweet Teen" sent me a text this afternoon that said she had made the pillow, a bib to go with some burp cloths that she had made. She said she also made "Angel" a wallet and 2 phone holders! I am so proud of her!

I just had to show you this little quilt also. "Sweet Teen's" friend made this. I think her friend sews a little anyway but when she saw the quilts that ST had made she wanted to make one. So ST helped her get started. This is two 15 year old girls................Is that not something?

Our hunting buddies "D & Rog" have 3 grown children. Two of them are twin boys and they are so special to us. They just graduated from High school. Anyway we went out to eat last night with them and their son "J" joined us. We had so much fun. When we are together we laugh so much. When we picked them up "J" came out of the house and handed me this book. I could not believe what it said. Facing your giants. I had to face a giant this week. I actually was thinking of doing a post on facing your fears. Now do you think the Lord is still speaking to me? I do. And he used an 18 year old boy. He handed me the book and told me how good it was. None of them know what I faced this week. I said, Oh are you loaning this book to me and he said, No, I am giving it to you. Wow. You will hear more about this book. I have already started reading it. Thank you Lord. Thank you "J"!
Yesterday I received this picture on my phone! Brother pulled a tooth! He did it himself.
Is this a doll or what? I remember when my son who is 36 years old lost his baby teeth.
A little while later I received this fuzzy picture on my phone! Now Brother is missing his 2 front teeth!!! I know what he wants for Christmas!
******************
An excerpt out of my book......
As Goliath moved closer to attack, David quickly ran out to meet him.
1 Samuel 17:48

I did just what it says and that was before I received this book from "J"!!!
I am still listening Lord. What a confirmation this was for me.
