Friday Night Sew In

Hosted by Heidi & Bobbi!!
Thank you both for all your motivation.
*********
Today started out great!
I was so excited about this FNSI!

Clean house......check!
I don't like Chinese food and I don't like rice,
but I love this rice at this Chinese place.
I actually think it is the soy sauce that I like.
Lot's of soy sauce!!!
Late lunch or early supper on the porch!
Enjoying the view.

Listening to the thunder and waiting on the rain.
Easy, quick supper for "Sweet Hunter".

P.J.'s ready for the Friday Night Sew In.
Things could not be going any better.

Fabric ready.
I knew exacty what I wanted to do.
I repinned something on my friend, Krista's board on Pinterest.
By the way, you need to visit her blog. Just click on her name.
She has such a ministry with her words.
She will bless your heart.

It looked so easy in the video!
Ten minute project????
Everything's going great!

Until I turned it right side out!!!
Does that look like a mitered corner to you?
I was so disappointed.
I must have done something wrong...really wrong!! ( smile)
You can click on the picture of the video and it should take you there.
It really does look so easy.
So I started another project!!
Nothing completed tonight.
I knew today was going too good!
But I still enjoyed my time in my sewing room!!!
Today made me think of Granny's verse:
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Philippians 4:13

Don't forget to pop in and visit my daughter, "May May's Blog!
Go visit my Mother's blog and see the quilt she made. It is so beautiful.

Friday Night Sew In

I just realized that the FNSI was tonight !!
Thank you Bobbi and Heidi!!
I have been busy crocheting for my daughter's baby shower
and I knew that I could not show you that yet so
I went and found some fabric and got busy!

And I made these pajama pants just for me
or they might possibly be for a Christmas gift!!
I am also linking up with Peg & Kris with OPAM
and Allie for Christmas through the year!

These pictures are not good because of the blinds
but I wanted to show you what was on our bird feeder yesterday!
Enlarge picture to see better.

Look really close!

It is a raccoon!
We could not believe that it was out in broad daylight!

I tried to snap a picture of it going down the pole
but all I could capture is it's hind legs and tail as it went down.

And then I wanted to show you this!

Aren't they darling?

I LOVE watching my hummingbirds!

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR.........time spent with a friend.

Embroidery, Chicken Scratch, Crocheting

Learning to do embroidery!

I have been working on these for a while but finished them this month!

Perfect???  NO, but I am learning a lot!
I found these patterns in Sweet & Simple Embroidery by Gooseberry Patch.
I plan on putting these in frames just like it shows in this book.

Chicken Scratch.
This pattern came out of the book
More Chicken Scratch & Candlewicking by Pegasus Originals.
I did add the leaves on the trees and the grass!
I have been working on this off and on but it is finished now.
It was so much fun
For more info on chicken scratch you can go Here!

And now there are 2 Chrysanthemum Dish cloths!!!!
I showed you the one on the left that I learned in my crochet class the other day!
I wanted to try to do one on my own and I did it!!!
It's not perfect either but I already have another one started so I can learn more!

Today I decided to find a pattern for baby booties.
I wasn't sure I could do it but I did!
I didn't do it right but I will take the pattern
when I go to my crochet class and get Polly (my teacher)
to show me what I did wrong.
I think I may even have them wrong side out but I am still so proud of them!

This little matching hat is for a newborn baby.
Polly (my crochet teacher) wants us to learn how to read patterns
so I am so excited that I did this all by myself!
I think she will be proud of me for practicing!!

Isn't this so cute?
I didn't do the flower but I do want to try it.
I already had it in some of my things.
There is more to go with this little newborn set
and I am so excited to learn how to make it all!!!

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR......my encouragers!
I am linking up to the following people who do encourage me all the time!
Allie with Christmas Through The Year!
Peg & Kris with One Project A Month!

Crocheting Class

Look at this baby blanket that one of the ladies made!

Another Chrysanthium dish cloth.
Looks to pretty to use.

A scarf!

Remember this from last time?
She has put the tassel on it now!

Isn't this so cute?

The lady that is making this litle animal is a lady that I have known for a long time.
I haven't saw her in years and was so excited to see her there!

This is the feet that goes on this little animal.
She is making it for a grandson.

I love this color!

Polly, our teacher made this yummy cake!
Isn't this beautiful?
I actually made this last Friday night. Mine wasn't as pretty as hers!

A beautiful afghan!

Love this color too!

You can never go wrong with white!

This lady was showing me that she was making a vest.
You can see the picture on the table.
She said it was so easy. She said it was a rice stitch.
I can't wait to see it finished.

O.K. I claim this one!
Polly asked me if I would like to make a hat to match my scarf.
Of course I said yes!
She let me sit right beside her so everyone thought I was the teachers pet!
I loved it. She walked me through learning to read a pattern.
She made me a copy and sent me home to finish it!
I never ever thought I could do it................BUT I DID!
I tried to follow the pattern like she told me.
Then I got to a FPtc!  What?
Front post treble crochet!
And I figured it out myself!

It may not be perfect to a professional but it is perfect to me!
I am loving this crochet class!
Thank you Polly for your gift of teaching.
I AM THANKFUL FOR.........my crochet teacher!!!

I am linking up with Heidi & Bobbi for the Friday Night Sew In.
I am late posting but at least I am here!
I am also linking up with Allie for Christmas Through The Year!
I am also linking up with Peg & Kris for the ONE Project A Month!
Thank you all!

Friday Night Sew In And Wedding Preparations

I love being motivated by Heidi and Bobbi with the Friday Night Sew In!
But this past Friday I didn't get much done in the way of sewing projects.
I did work on several crocheted red dishcloths this past week so I am hoping that
they will count as my sew in project even though Friday night I was busy with other things.

Our friends Gayle & Bruce were getting married
yesterday so Friday night
I was washing strawberries for the reception.

Then I dipped and dipped and dipped some more!
Friday Night I was pooped!!!
I am not the only one that had a part in this.
The groom's sisters were working on other things
to make this wedding special too.

Gayle had requested my little meringue cookies too.
So I fixed these.  I learned from a couple of different people that
these cookies are also called "Forget me Nots" and also
"Ressurection cookies".  I was also told that you can add nuts to them.
I will have to try that.

I made about 150 dipped strawberries and
150 meringue cookies for the wedding.

After I dipped the strawberries in the chocolate, I let them cool
and then I dipped them again in white chocolate.
I thought they turned out pretty good.

"Sweet Hunter" said the house smelled like a bakery.
He got to eat all the rejects and lick the chocolate bowl.
He is so spoiled!!

I love doing things like this.
It is a lot of fun but a lot of work.

This is how the strawberries looked at my house
before going into the refrigerator.

This is just a few pictures of parts of the wedding.
I want to wait until the Bride and Groom get back
from their honeymoon before posting more pictures.
I took 335 pictures!!!

This was a small wedding but it was beautiful.
A lot of friends & family made this a very special day!
Isn't the cake beautiful?
It was as delicious as it was pretty.

This basket is what we fixed up for the Bride and Groom to take with them on their honeymoon.
It has lots of goodies in it.  I made them some homemade Cinnamon Sugar Bread and homemade margarine (not butter) to go with it.  My blogging friend Angela shared the bread recipe with me.  It is delicious!!! There is sugar cookies, chicken salad tarts, lemon drops, caramels, dipped strawberries, dipped pretzels, meringue cookies, and wedding cake in the basket.  We even included some instant coffee for the groom and hot chocolate mix that "Big sis" made for the Bride.  I hope they enjoy it all.  We all enjoyed putting it together for them.

And I can't leave without showing you this magazine.
My Sweet Mother gave me a subscription to this magazine for my birthday.
I absolutely love it.  Thank you Mom!
And guess what?  A blogging friend Jeannie B. is featured on page 68!!!!
I feel so priviliged because I feel like I know her in real life!!!!
Oh how I wish I could learn everything this woman knows.
She is so gifted.
Congrats Jeannie B.!
Today I am thankful for........new beginnings!
