The development of science and technology changes the image of aloe vera into a plant that has many benefits, and becomes a business opportunity. This motivated the community service team from the Faculty of Agriculture, Wijaya Kusuma University, Surabaya to provide assistance to economically non-productive mothers to take advantage of this business opportunity. The team's optimism is supported by the local potential of the aloe vera plant, as well as encouragement from village government agencies and the community. While the treatment of second factor are amount (dose) of urban organic compost waste, namely B0: 0% compost as control, B1: 10%, B2: 20%, and B3: 30% compost. The aim of this research was to determine the behavioral response of Riptortus linearis to the ap... more The aim of this research was to determine the behavioral response of Riptortus linearis to the application of organic insecticides (extract of Cerbera manghas leaf). The experimental method refers to Garber (1951). Young long bean pods soaked for 10 seconds in the solution of Bintaro Leaf extract with the concentrations of : K0 = 0.0%, K1 = 2.5%, K2 = 5%, K3 = 7.5%, K4 = 10%, K5 = 12.5%. Long bean pods is hung in a rectangular mosquito net lid and inserted in 3-4 of instar of R. linearis larvae as many as 20 animals per replicate. The number of insect perched on the pods of each treatment is observed every day. The results showed that the number of dead and perched insects did not differ significantly among the treatments. The conclusion was the application of Bintaro Leaf extract didnot give influence to the presence and death of R. linearis.

The objective of the study is to develop composting techniques made from raw urban organic waste carried out massively. The research consists of two factorials; the treatment of factor I is the mixture of EM4 and urea, and factor II is the portion of market waste in the mixture of organic matter of dry and wastewater waste consisted of 0%, 20%, 40%, and 60%. The result of the study shows that there were biomass volume decline in the range of 25-70% and the change of pH which ran above 8 and after five weeks it was relatively stable under normal condition around 7. Moreover, there was high temperature change ranged from 40-50 0 C and after six weeks it was stable of 35-40 0 C. The discoloration also happened from the green fresh leaves or dry brown leaves turned to darkish brown. The study was aimed at testing the repellency of bintaro plant extracts on the presence of Spodop... more The study was aimed at testing the repellency of bintaro plant extracts on the presence of Spodoptera litura pests and studying the utilization of bintaro plant extract repellency for controlling decisions of plant pests. The study used the Painter (1951) plant endurance test approach, namely soybean plants were treated by various concentrations of bintaro leaf extract infested by Spodoptera litura insects. The study design was a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with five replications. The concentration treatment of bintaro leaf extract with six levels, namely: K0: concentration of 0.0%; K1: concentration of 2.5%; K2: concentration of 5.0%; K3: concentration of 7.5%; K4: 10.0% concentration; and K5: 12.5% concentration. The results showed that the treatment of bintaro leaf extract had no effect (having the power of repelence) on the presence of adult, looking for a place to lay eggs, but mess up hatching of Spodoptera eggs. Bintaro leaf extract was able to suppress spodoptera adult 70-80% so that it can be used to make Sopodtera pest control decisions.

The government annually undertakes dredging of the precipitate for the flow of water to flow smoothly. Soil sedimentary water potential to be utilized as a medium of planting in the development of urban agriculture. The research was conducted by survey method in Surabaya city waters. The sample was taken using random method of choosing, that is choosing condition of place environment and soil condition which is possible for planting medium. Soil sediment samples were observed for pH, color, structure, texture, organic matter content, Nitrogen (N-total), K2O and P2O5. The result of this research shows that all of the textured sedimentary soil content of clay is 89,87- 92,14%, organic material content is about 5,96-7,60%, total N-content is 0,09-0,13%, K2O content between 0,88-1,12%, and P2O5 content between 2,08-2,44%. Organic waste and sewage sludge were becoming big problems in urban area. Community who live in t... more Organic waste and sewage sludge were becoming big problems in urban area. Community who live in the city have to buy soil media and compost for farming activities. This study was aimed to determine the effect of utilising sewage sludge and urban organic waste compost for cultivating onion using urban farming system. The experiment factors were sewage sludge and dosage of urban organic waste compost. The results showed that there was no correlation between the both treatment factors. Besides, there was no significant difference for all experimental variables: the treatment of sewage sludge and garden soil as comparisons. Meanwhile, the treatment of urban waste compost dosage had a significant effect on the height of the onion plant, the weight of the harvest, the number of bulbs, and the dry weight of onion. In addition, the treatment of urban waste compost as much as 10%, 20% and 30% was not significantly different from each other. For plants that were given urban waste compost, the plant height was 36-38 cm, harvest weight was 75-92 g/plant, the number of bulbs was 10-12 fruits/plant and the dry weight of onion was 50-60 g/plant.
