Another week is gone and it's almost the end of another month. Time flies. There is always time at the end of the week, however, to take account of my blessings and join with my blogging friends over at Susanne's Space, Living to Tell the Story, for Friday's Fave Five.
🎃 It was a cold and wet week, which was fine with me and many others around here who hope that we will get a good snow pack to provide us with the water we need next year. I am grateful that our rain and snow season is off to a good start.
🎃 A couple of afternoons this week when we didn't have rain, Charly and I walked right after school. This tree was on our walking route and it was still beautiful even after all the wind, rain and freezing temperatures. I am, as always, grateful for autumn beauty and afternoon walks with my husband.
🎃 On the cold nights we have been having, I am grateful for warm flannel jammies to keep me warm tonight. This is a new pair I got last winter, and they are so warm, soft and comfy.
🎃 I also got a brand new winter coat at the end of the season last year. I paid $30 for a regularly $120 Eddie Bauer coat at a local sporting goods outlet at the end of the season. Even though it was a great deal, I wasn't sure I would like the coat until I started wearing it every day this past week. It is comfortable, warm, exactly the right weight and a color that I love. I am grateful to have gotten such such a great, high-quality, warm coat for 75% off!
🎃 I spent some time last week doing some more "reminder letters" for voters. I have done 300 + voter letters and postcards because I am grateful for this country! I appreciate the opportunity to help preserve our Democratic Republic and remind others to take seriously the responsibility to vote.
🎃 I love hearing from friends and family who are far away, and this past week, I had a nice text conversation with a good friend from Arizona. It was fun to catch-up with her. I also had a good phone chat with my birth mom and then got this picture from my sister of her and my mom having lunch on Thursday. It is always good to keep in touch with those we love and I am grateful for the technology that lets me do just that.
🎃 Speaking of technology, it was quite stressful when my classroom projector went out earlier in the week. After attempts to repair the project failed, I was told I would have to wait, perhaps weeks, for an AV person from our district office to come and look at it. I use my projector for my lessons and instruction every day, so I was so grateful when our librarian found an functional projector in storage at our school, and switched out the broken one for the one that worked. Now I can go ahead with my planned lessons that rely heavily on my projector.
🎃 Thursday was my youngest granddaughter, Hattie's, fourth birthday, and Charly drove down to our daughter's house to wish her a Happy Birthday. They had a nice visit.
🎃 Hattie loved the Elsa Doll we gave her, and I love this cute picture of this sweet four-year-old. Charly also took Halloween treats for all of our grandkids. I am grateful for our grandchildren, and that Charly was able to see the youngest on her birthday. This week was super busy for my daughter and her family, but we are all planning to get together again soon.
Those are some of the things that made this past week a good one. I hope things are good in your world as well.
Until next time.

Oh Hattie!! My fave age for preschool children.....and she's just adorable! How fun for her to have her grandpa visit on her birthday.
ReplyDeleteWOW you all are wearing winter coats already!! (we still don't even need a fleece jacket unless we're in the mountains). Although I'm SO READY for our first frost to find out if this "allergy headache" that seems to be non stop will actually die down when the frost comes like the ENT claims it will. I'm so ready for this thing to go away.
That's a great deal on Eddie Bauer....we live near one of the outlets and I sometimes can score a good deal there.
Those jammies would make me too hot for sleeping (I have a very similar pair but mine have some red in them) but I like them for lounging around in the evening after dinner when I don't need to go out of the house.
YAY for good phone chats and for seeing your mother and sister. That must make you happy.
ENJOY the weekend and do something you love.
Looks like a happy, busy week. Your new coat looks nice and warm and cozy. So do your flannel pj's. Question: I want to wear pj's in the winter, but I have such a hard time keeping the legs of the pants from riding up and twisting around my legs, and this drives me crazy all night long! Does anyone else have that problem, and if so, how do you combat it? Just wondering. Your little granddaughter is so adorable! What fun to have such a sweet little one to enjoy and to play dollies with! (that's what I'd do if I had a granddaughter, but I don't, so I play with dollies by myself. LOL). Glad your tech problem was resolved at school. Nothing worse than having a classroom of kids and a program that doesn't work...and keeping them "tuned in". Have a blessed and wonderful rest of your week and end of October weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you're having your wet weather. We are under a drought at the moment. Hopefully that will change soon. Your flannel jammies look so warm and comfy! I have a couple flannel nightgowns I pull out during the winter. I may just have to get a pair of pajamas as well. I'm glad you were able to get going with your lesson plans. I noticed Edgar Allan Poe on your screen. I found a couple of You Tube videos of readings of "The Raven". One of my favorite poems. The one read by Christopher Lee is amazing! Hattie is so cute. Every little girl loves Elsa, don't they?
ReplyDeletewe had one rainy day and it was good to have a watering. Happy birthday to your grand!
ReplyDeleteHi Deb~ I'm loving this cooler weather as well, and isn't it wonderful to see snow?! What a gorgeous tree, it most likely makes your daily walks so enjoyable! The nights have been really cold here, and like, Pam, I can't wear PJ's, especially if they are flannel. I wear nightgowns, but they have to be silky, or they twist too much. Your flannels do look comfy though! What an adorable little grand...she looks like she was really happy to see her grandpa, so cute. I have already voted, we always to mail in ballots. I think a lot of folks have given up on voting, but it's so important to exercise our right to vote. It is time to break out the coats! What a great bargain on your coat, and it looks so warm...winter is upon us! Have a wonderful week-end! Hugs, Barb
ReplyDeleteGood for you on that coat deal! It pays to shop end-of-season.
ReplyDeleteHi Deb, I enjoyed my visit here as always. Our weather is cooling down too! Your granddaughter is so cute! Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Hattie.
ReplyDeleteYour flannel pajamas look toasty warm.
What a little cutie your granddaughter is. She looks very pleased with her Elsa doll and having her grandpa there. The fall tree is lovely! I'm not a big flannel fan unless it's real lightweight but I do love all the fun patterns they come in. Wow what a deal on that coat! I love that color!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your area is getting the moisture it needs. What a great deal on the jacket. I'm glad, too, for the technology that enables us to keep up with loved ones more easily. How great that your school had another projector and Charly got to go visit your granddaughter on her birthday.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice week you had. Your little granddaughter is darling. Flannel pj's are the best. Have a warm and cozy weekend.
ReplyDeleteHattie is such a cutie!!
ReplyDeleteYou really had a nice week. Always fun to read what you have been up to. Have a super weekend! :)
Hattie is adorable my friend. Thank you for checking up on me, btw...it always brings a smile on my face. Now that we are out and living on our own, we do have internet and cable, so I can get back to the friendships etc. smiles
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to cute Hattie! My winter coat is an Eddie Bauer on sale, too, but a little heavier. Didn't realize it would take me through winters eating outdoors. You got a great deal!
ReplyDeleteI love the autumn and the colder weather as well. I found your blog on Pam Steiners blog and once I saw the photo in your header I was drawn in as I am from Utah. I hope Hattie had a wonderful birthday! And yes, worship with your brothers and sister in the Lord is the best!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful Granddaughter! Happy birthday to Hattie! We've had a beautiful Fall here and I'm glad you're getting the needed moisture. My friend that moved here from Utah last year says she still can't believe how green it stays here without any irrigation! I'm grateful for that! Have a Happy Halloween tomorrow!
