Friday Favorites - Fall Break Edition

It's that time of the week- the time to look back over the past few days and remember the goodness and blessings with gratitude.  I am joining again with Susanne over at Living to Tell the Story for Friday's Fave Five.

😊 We had a short week at school this week, with Thursday and Friday being our Fall Break.  While Fall Break in Utah is shorter than it was in Arizona where we got an entire week, I am really enjoying a couple of days to relax and get things done.

😊 There was another stunning sunrise last week.  Here it is as seen from my classroom window.  I am grateful that I can see the sun come up over the mountains almost every morning.  It truly makes my day and fills me with gratitude for God's amazing creation.

😊 We have had some chilly fall mornings, but it still isn't cold enough to turn on the furnace, and our afternoon temperatures have been getting into the high 70s and low 80s.  We have two little heaters like this  - one in our bedroom and one in our dining room - and they are perfect to take the chill off in the early morning. I am grateful for the warmth of this nice little heaters that also make the room look warm and friendly.

😊 Working with Josh and Charly, I was able to get Josh's FAFSA application for the 2023-2024 school year finished this last week.  It is always a pain, but good to have finished because the Pell Grant Josh is eligible for is helping him finish his bachelor's degree.  I am grateful to have the FAFSA application finished for another year, and I am also grateful for the help paying Josh's college expenses.

😊 Charly has been hard at work this week painting the Gazebo so that the new wood won't be damaged with the winter rain and snow.  I am grateful for the hours he has spent doing this and I know we will enjoy it when we move back to this house next summer.   I am thankful Charly has worked so hard on this project this week.

😊  I am grateful to have a husband that I enjoy spending time with.  Today, we walked, grocery shopped and painted together.  We loved just being together doing regular, everyday things.   We are looking forward to much more time together this long weekend.

😊 We got a fun Marco Polo message from our daughter and her children last week.  This is a still photo of their video. It always makes me feel grateful when I  hear from these people who I love so much.

That's all for this week.  Thanks for joining me to share the goodness.

Until next time,
😊DebπŸ’›

  2. You've had another good week. Raining here which is much needed but it's taking down the colorful leaves. The lawn is now matted with them.

  3. FAFSA, ugh. I used to dread filling those out and the year I was done was glorious! They have made it easier but the ugh-ness feeling lingered. Love your heaters so cosy.

  4. What a beautiful view to start your day!
I'm glad for your comment to me about fall break being appreciated by teachers. I needed to be looking at that from both sides, not just as a grand/parent! I'm glad for anything that will help teachers in doing their jobs better. So grateful for all of you!
That little heater is SO cozy :)

  5. Hi Deb~ What a gorgeous sunrise! I'm sure seeing something beautiful at the start of your day can make a long day a little easier ;0) How important it is to love spending time with your husband, I looked so forward to that when Bob retired. We still, after 12 years of retirement, love the time we share together. Your grands are adorable...I can see you and Charley in each one of them! Have a great week-end! Hugs, Barb

  8. Oh yes, I remember the FAFSA days and years. I'm glad with you that you are finished for the year.
The gazebo is looking great. I know you will enjoy it next summer. It is great to have someone in the family who is handy and willing to work on the projects.
    Have a good weekend!

  9. Schools here in Chicagoland don't have a Fall Break. I hope you're enjoying yours.

Love the orange in the photo of the heater. It makes me want to curl up under a throw and take a nap. (I've mentioned this before: you take the best pictures!)

  10. Belated happy birthday! FAFSA is such a pain, but the results are sure helpful. We've had the heat on a little--mainly to dispel the chill in the morning. We had to turn the AC back on a couple days this week. Fall goes like that here--back and forth from cool to warm. Glad you had a nice fall break!

  11. Hi there Deb, I’m glad you are getting the chance to enjoy a few well-earned days off. I especially love hearing you talk about gratitude. It’s so very important, and a reminder to all of us how fortunate we really are, and how good God is. Have a lovely Sunday, my friend.

  12. I remember those form filling days! I hope your break was good as it looked like a work/get things done time! Your view from the classroom is gorgeous. I see the sunrise when I head to work now. I think I like the summer mornings better when the sun was already up on my drive to the hospital. Have another grateful week Deb!
