The Corrosive Challenge #208 - Autumn/Fall

Hello!  I know I've been super quiet lately!  I'm still trying to adjust to our new schedule and there has been a lot going on behind the scenes this month!  I did manage to get a card made for our newest challenge over at The Corrosive Challenge!  One of my favorite sponsor is back so I had to play along!  This fortnight we are welcoming The Paper Shelter!  Not only were we given our choice of two image to play with but there is a $20 gift certificate up for grabs for our winner!  They are also currently having a Design Team Call!  Details can be found HERE.  I'm entering as I love these adorable images and would be thrilled to have a place on the team.

The theme is another favorite of mine: Autumn/Fall!  I love this season and I'm so happy it's here!  I selected Autumn Attitude and she is colored with Copics.  I sponged the sky/clouds behind her in Baja Breeze ink using a template my teamie Michelle made for me some time ago.  The sketch is Sketch Saturday (#327).  Papers are The Pumpkin Patch stack (DCWV).  I added a Martha Stewart border punch, a leaf, and a bling flourish.

Be sure to head over to the challenge blog and check out the autumnal splendor on display!  The small man and I are headed off for a hike today with one of my brothers and his new furbaby to enjoy a little bit of Fall ourselves!

HB2U

Hi there!  I had seven cards that I wanted to get done this weekend and so far this is the only one I've managed to accomplish!  I had a full day of apple picking and Fall fun yesterday and today is a family dinner so...  We shall see.  But I did want to share this Kenny K creation with you at least.  They are having a Facebook challenge right now where they want you to show off your Kenny K style.  You can "like" their page HERE.

I love the images, from sexy to cute, and use them all, but for this birthday card I went cute with Texting Diva.  She is colored with Copics and cut using the Spellbinders Deckled Rectangles dies.  I used two other dies: Classic Circles, also from Spellbinders, and Fishtail Flags Stax Die-namics from My Favorite Things.  The sentiment was also made using a MFT product- a stamp set called Let's Chat.  Papers are Follow Your Heart - Be Amazing from My Mind's Eye.  A Martha Stewart border punch and some flowers and bling from my stash finish off the project.  The sketch is a fun one from The Sketchy Challenges (#56).

Hopefully I can squeeze in some crafting time before we head out for the day and then again this evening.  *sigh* So many digis, so little time!  lol  Have a fabulous day where you are!  Fall has officially begun here, and we kicked it off right with a trip to the orchard yesterday!  Can you say caramel apple, apple cider doughnut, and pumpkin ice cream?  YUM!  Not to mention the apples we picked and a couple of small pumpkins to take home too!

Thanks for stopping by!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E02, E11, E23, E25, YR00, YR02, R39, N0, N2, N4, N6, N8).

Guest Designing for SBS

Hello again!  I am honored to be guest designing for Simply B Stamps this month!  I was so thrilled when they asked me to join them over at their Simply Challenged Challenges blog!  Today is my first challenge and it's right up my alley: Fall Colors!  SBS is also sponsoring Pile It On this week and it's a fun Tic-Tac-Toe theme (#36)!  All you have to do is pick any three in a row (vertically, horizontally, or diagonally) to play along.  Oh, and they encourage you to "pile on" the challenges too!

I was given the adorable Jude Pumpkins from the Jude & the Rockers Fall collection to work with.  It's perfect because I was able to make a card for Kayne.  He loves to get my cards which I find endearing beyond words!  I colored Jude with Copics and fussy cut him.  The sketch I used is the current Sweet Sketch Wednesday (#222).  I actually managed to complete three different rows on the Tic-Tac-Toe (patterned paper-metal-for a child, patterned paper-dies-autumn colors, and autumn colors-image-for a child) so go me!  lol

Papers are from the Pumpkin Patch stack by DCWV.  These are great Fall papers and are really fun to work with!  That awesome pumpkin die from Spellbinders was just waiting for an excuse to be used on a card and it fit perfectly with the theme and sketch!  I love when things come together like that!  I added brown gingham ribbon, a Tim Holtz metal corner, and a sentiment that is also from SBS, which can be found in the Jude & the Rockers Halloween bundle.  The sentiment is cut using Labels Twenty-One from Spellbinders and I used a little Distress Ink in Vintage Photo on it.

Please head over to the SCC blog to see the amazing DT creations and maybe visit their blogs for a bit of love too.  Here is a list if you are so inclined:

The Corrosive Challenge #182 - All About Fall

Welcome to another Corrosive Challenge!  Our fabulous sponsor this fortnight is Meljen's Designs!

Here is a little bit about them in their own words:

Meljen's Designs is a lovely stamp company owned and illustrated by Melissa Jenkins. She illustrates whimsical rubber and digital images inspired by her kids and family. Meljen's Designs has a new challenge every Thursday, and a Guest Designer each month at the Meljen's Designs Blog. Please visit the adorable line of Meljen's Designs stamps at our store HERE to browse all of Melissa's lovely designs! You can also see Melissa's exclusive rubber stamps at her corner of Whimsy Stamps, too!  Don't forget to join Meljen's Designs on Facebook HERE to take advantage of special sales and promotions that are just for her facebook fans

Melissa generously provided the team with several images to work with for our "All About Fall" theme. She is also offering a prize of 4 (non colored) images as a prize for our winner!  All of the images were adorable but I chose Pumpkin Crow for my project.  The image is colored with Copics, cut with Classic Circles Nestabilities, and matted with Pumpkin Circles Nestabilities (both from Spellbinders).  My design is courtesy of i {heart} sketches (no 32).  Papers are from the new Pumpkin Patch stack by DCWV!  Aren't they lovely?  I added flowers, a couple of gems, and a sentiment from the Pink Victorian Steampunk stamp set by former stamp company Tickled Pink Stamps.

We're in the middle of Labor Day weekend here which unofficially marks the end of Summer.  Though I will be enjoying what remains of the dog days of Summer, I will be happy when that unmistakable crisp Fall chill fills the air.  It is my favorite season and it makes my heart smile!  Thanks for checking in and be sure to pop over to The Corrosive Challenge blog to see all the wonderful creations from the rest of the team!  Enjoy your day!

Fall Fun and a Farwell

I know that life is full of surprises, but when you have a extra happy week that suddenly takes a sad turn it's hard to deal with the change in mood.  I learned last night that  my parents had to put down their dog, Odin.  He was part of our family for 14 years, and we used to joke that he was my mom's favorite child (and it might not have been far from the truth!).  He was a fantastic dog, so full of personality, and it was hard to watch his health start to deteriorate as he got older.  My mom took excellent care of him, and he ate better than most human do!  But he was a large breed mutt (part German Shepherd, we think) and he suffered from hip dysplasia among other things.  We all loved him and will miss him, but my poor mom is going to notice his absence the most.  She only works part-time, evenings, and he was her constant companion.  I cried for him; I cried for her; I cried for me, because I didn't really say good-bye properly the last time we were there.  I knew it was coming, but didn't think it would be so soon.  Or maybe I didn't want it to be so soon...  My small man was upset because I was but he is too young yet to really grasp what it all means.  All he knows is his buddy won't be there to hug anymore when he visits his Babci and Papa.  Sorry to start a post with such sadness, but he deserves and needs a final tribute.  He gave our family many smiles and all of his loyalty and love.  We love you, Odin!

Now onto my card!  It is another Fabulous Freebie Friday over at Sassy Studio Designs Paper Craft Planet group (found here)!  We have another terrific 24 hour free image for you!  She's called Fall Fun, and it's easy to see why!  Even at my age jumping into a pile of leaves sounds like a good time!

The current challenge at PCP is "Orange You Glad It's Fall" and all you need to do to play along is use orange as your focal color.  There is no shortage of orange here!  I have colored the image with Copics.  I actually colored two images of the girl and fussy cut one to pop up on top of the other. I like the dimension this gives.  My layout is loosely based on the current Sketch N Stash challenge (#96).  I had to adjust it slightly to work for me.  Papers are My Mind's Eye - Halloween Scary Sparkles.  A bit of bling, a few flowers, some baker's twine and a Deconstructed doodle around the image panel (cut with my Labels Seventeen Nestabilities from Spellbinders) finish off the card.

If you'd like to make this cutie yours simply head over right over to our Paper Craft Planet group!  While you're there take a peek at what the Fabettes have made to showcase the image and leave a little love for the lovely design team ladies!  We hope you'll be so inspired you'll want to play along!

Thanks for stopping by and have yourselves a fantastic weekend!

Markers used: Copics (E11, E21, E00, E04, R20, E13, E19, E23, E31, E33, E34, E39, YG93, YG97, YR04, YR07, YR18, W4, W6, W8, Y32, Y38) and Prismacolor Art Markers (150, 169).

Dare To Be Sassy Thursday #97 - Falling Leaves

I have been neglectful of my crafting this week. I would think about going to sit at my desk and work on one of the many pending projects and then I would snuggle under the afghan on the couch and watch TV. I guess sometimes you just need days like that. I did take the time to cook a fabulous dinner on Tuesday after work, though - my homemade hot Italian sausage and cheese stuffed shells! And Monday was Halloween so even though there was no trick or treating we hung out with my parents for the evening. Today and Friday are back to back TOT events for us. It seems odd to be doing this a few days into November, but there are people still without power so I guess I understand the reason behind the postponement. Odder still is the fact that it's supposed to be 60 degrees out today. Mother Nature is definitely a fickle woman! lol

I did manage to get off the couch tonight to make my Sassy Studio Designs card for the new Dare To Be Sassy Thursday challenge. Challenge #97 is "Falling Leaves" and we want to see leaves somewhere on your project. I used some autumn hued mulberry paper leaves I've had since last Fall. Also the silver brads have an embossed leaf pattern on them. My image is Scarecrow Honey from the Wizard of Oz Little Honey collection. I simply used her for a harvest themed card. The layout is courtesy of a wonderful sketch (#118) over at Tuesday Morning Sketches. I did a little "deconstructed doodling" and added a few flowers and some gingham ribbon.

Head on over to the Sassy Studio Designs blog to see what some of my design team mates have created for this challenge and to play along for your chance to win two SSD images of your choice. You don't have to use a Sassy image to participate, but we sure love it when you do! Don't forget that a new Sassy Christmas Challenge has just started too! That one does require use of a Sassy Studio Designs image and the theme is "Christmas Carols". You can check out all the details here. And hopefully I'll see you all over on Paper Craft Planet for Fabulous Freebie Friday this week as well!

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous day!

Sassy Studio Designs Fabulous Freebie Friday

Happy Friday and Happy Fall! Today marks the official start of my favorite season! I am looking forward to chilly days, snuggly sweaters, apple picking, and falling leaves... Which brings me to the reason for my post. Today's Sassy Studio Designs Fabulous Freebie Friday image is called just that - Falling Leaves. You can find her over at our Paper Craft Planet SSD group, where there is a new freebie image every Friday! And to make them yours all you have to do is become a member of the group!

We also run bi-weekly challenges there, and we are in the 2nd week of our "Fall is in the Air" challenge. If you want to be eligible to win 2 SSD images of your choice, go to PCP and check out all the details there! You MUST use a SSD image for this challenge.

I've used the freebie (you get a bonus entry for the prize draw if you use the freebies being provided) and sketch #88 from The Pixie Cottage. They have a two part challenge there. You can chose to participate in either one or both - it's up to you. The second part of challenge #88 is buttons, bows, and brads so I joined in. The gold brads in the circles are from Stampin' Up. I used some gingham ribbon and twine to make bows and to attach a leaf button from my stash.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look! I hope you'll join us over on Paper Craft Planet! Have a fabulous day!

Cocoa and Pumpkins

CPS191
Sketch

As someone who drinks iced coffee year round, I have to admit that these last few days have really put me in the mood for hot chocolate, home-made pumpkin bread, and a cozy warm sweater! I look at the multi-hued fallen foliage, feel the chill in the air and revel in the scents of autumn in New England. It won't be long before the chill turns to cold (there was already frost on my car this morning), and I wanted to take a moment to celebrate my favorite season. And so I was inspired to make this card.

Over at Sassy Studio Designs they had their new release this week with some fabulous holiday images, but their Dare To Be Sassy Thursday Challenge #44 was to create something inspired by autumn. I used the sketch for this week from Card Positioning Systems, two Sassy images (though they are no longer a requirement) and a fan fold flower for my card. These flowers give any project depth and texture and are super easy to make!

I am looking forward to starting to prepare for the holidays, and that includes plenty of card making! It has been such an amazing year and I can't wait to share the wonder of it all with my son, my family and my friends. I have plenty to be thankful for, that is for sure!

Thanks for taking a peek and hope that you'll stop back again soon!
