Sketchy Saturday no 31 prompt entry three for week of 22 dec 2018

Entry three for Document December mixed format scrapbook pocket page

For this sketch layout interpretation the design has been rotated 90 degrees to the right (tipped over) in order to fit the dimensions of the top left corner pocket of this scrapbook page.

Liberties have been taken with one of the sketch's snowflakes to be substituted by a row of stick-on gems. Another change is a journaling strip instead of a sentiment message. More stick-on gems and small stickers (junk mail freebies) have been used instead of snowflakes. The base paper (which the design reminds me of poinsettias) was part of my November 2018 kit that I made for CKC blog but didn't use until now. I'm glad I got this done! 

Snapshots for this entry #3 feature our living room piano's keyboard covered with received Christmas cards and photo cards and a recent pic taken at our church with my hubby and I standing next to the beautiful cradle to the cross display.

As I did for the two previous entries for the same challenge, I've given credit in this blog series of posts to 2 groups/blog that have been motivating me to get busy using old crafting inventory in new ways. Those groups are Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog/Facebook group and 100 Pattern Papers Challenge which is solely a FB group. Thanks also to LSD for being an inspiring crafting mentor!

2018 is almost over! This year's highlights have been crafting and blog related since personal life has been full of stresses due to many traumas and dramas. I spent the first 8 months of year on 2 blogs' design teams and reluctantly stepped down for 2 reasons (hubby had 3 ER visits in July and I wanted more crafting flexibility in time and commitments). By late August I got excited in crafting again especially for scrapping with CKC blog's challenges. They selected me as an August follower showcase and guest designer for October!!! At about the same time, I discovered a Christian women's card making group through Facebook and have been recognized 2 times already!! (Christian Card-Making ~ Women's Fellowship) Then about 6 weeks ago, I've started renewing my interest in art journaling in my Bible and am getting ideas and inspiration to do more study of God's Word through this creative option.

Sketchy Saturday prompt challenge entry two for week of 22 dec 2018

Entry two for bottom right pocket in Document December 2018 mixed format scrapbook page

Design notes:
a. address type name label is used in place of a sentiment; also moved out of its zone because of using a photo instead of patterned paper or a die-cut kind of image
b. journaling note added after taking the photo (our green & gold tree; SW corner back-encl. porch)
c. red, yellow, and green stick-on gems were used instead of the sketch's snowflakes; I tried to place these in the designated spots but don't have the difference in sizes like the sketch shows.

Entry two was made to fit in the bottom right corner for this mixed format pocket scrapbook page.

The olive green cardstock scrap used at the bottom is an oldie, so old I can't remember who made it! Another credit shout out here and for end of the year's sake to 2 groups/blog that have encouraged me to dig in to my crafting inventory and get busy scrapping and card-making: 100 Pattern Papers Challenge (Facebook group) and Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog and FB Community group!!!!

Sketchy Saturday prompt from 22 december 2018 entry one

Document December 2018 with a mixed format pocket page's first entry

I collected some scraps from Christmas card-making and some leftovers from my Nov 2018 CKC blog copy-cat kit to quickly put together an entry in the scrapbook for this awesome month. Three of the four pockets will use the same sketch prompt provided by Laurel Seabrook Designs' Sketchy Saturday challenge.

The gift tag used as a sentiment focal is a tad overlarge for this pocket entry yet when seen within the context of the full sheet doesn't look too overwhelming. The stickers are old leftovers from junk mail. White copy paper for base. Red with black dots patterned paper is from The Paper Studio/Hobby Lobby. The fun and festive diagonal stripe is old stuff. Stickers are used instead of snowflakes as shown on the sketch.

HIMCR 383 challenge to keep it simple sweetie for Christmas or a December holiday

It is 3 1/2 days to Christmas and quick, easy greeting cards are just what I need in this busy week. My simple techniques for the challenge entry focus are using 'boxed' tags and an easy stand-up easel card format:

Keeping it simple (about 15 minutes to make from start to finish) also involved having scraps of different patterned papers, stapler/attacher, some gold gems and some decorative tapes ready to go with a few other essential tools.

The above photo shows 3 other gift tag styles made into easel cards.

This photo view is angled enough to really let the foil shine bright! I love this unexpected grouping of patterns and colors to be the setting for the poinsettia tag.

Bonus feature:
This cradle to the cross display was a group effort by almost all the regular attending members of our small Brethren church. We adopted and adapted a decorated tree and cross very similar to what several of us had seen on the internet. We used a tree, lights, ornaments, cradle, tree skirt (covering the cradle) and (spider) plants that the church already had. One member had the timbers and built the cross. Another member ordered the tulle and bought the poinsettia plants and half of the silk flowers on the tree. Many members helped set up the tree, lights, and ornaments. Others are watering the poinsettia and spider plants. And my husband and I donated half of the silk flowers. All of us have expressed delight in how this creative arrangement has filled this sanctuary corner.
