CCMWF color prompt challenge for end of September 2018

Three Christmas cards made with a neutral color palette for non-traditional looks

Card #1:

Card #2:

Card #3:

The inspirational photo and color palette prompt issued by Ginny M at CCMWF:

I didn't have any of the taupe/beige color so I chose to go more yellow gold. This was a tough challenge for me! For 2 cards I included little duo photos of my husband and I that were printed in gray tones. The stamps were inked in black. A wide range of border stickers and decorative tapes were used that came close to covering all the colors in the prompt photo. On card #2, a section of gold napkin was used plus small parts from metallic gold dots on white napkin. For cards #1 and #2, a jagged edge pair of decorative scissors were used to cut out the tree focal cardstock shapes.

Hope you find something in one of the cards that you like. I'll be crafting lots this month. My goal is to get some more old vacation photos scrapbooked and I need to get more Thanksgiving cards made too. And then my hubby's birthday and my mom's are this month as well which can't be missed.

Early Autumn Splendor kit project 11 showcases a 2007 visit to Grand Ole Opry

Early Autumn Splendor kit is used for this one page scrapbook layout!

Is it Old or Ole for the 2nd word in the Opry? I always think of it as Ole...hmm...being here was a bucket list achievement of my husband's. We've been there a 2nd time too.

My kit provided the forgery maple leaf patterned paper, the forgery paper bow, and the various cardstocks and patterned papers on this one page layout. The photos were horrible quality but I wanted to capture this part of our vacation trip anyway since it meant so much to my hubby to be there.

more photos of the layout taken from different angles=

This might be my last project for the month. Just a few days are left and other duties like cleaning house need to be tackled! :) From the USA heartland, Becca S

Autumn Splendor kit used for CKCB project 10 and CCMWF sketch card no 3 and HOC card no 3 for September challenges

Autumn Splendor Birthday card

Isn't this spectacular!

CKCB project 10 using my September copy cat kit. I can't believe how much I've been able to get made with my massive kit--I shouldn't be, but it's more of a time issue than a supply issue!
Link to one of several CKCB posts for the month:https://counterfeitkitchallenge.blogspot.com/2018/09/september-2018-forgery-on-fourth.html

This design sketch is from a secret group on Facebook called Christian Card Makers ~ Women's Fellowship (CCMWF). The sketch has been turned on its right side. Sizes of the light gray, dark gray, and circle have been adjusted. The long slender black rectangle section is replaced by the yarn. I still think you can see the original sketch reflected in the card.

House of Cards Challenge Blog for September 2018 has a birthday and/or color palette theme. I've chosen birthday and it's supported by the "Happy Birthday" stamped sentiment and the "Make a Wish" one on the inside panel.

Thanks to Ginny M at CCMWF for the bird nest laser printed image that I got to color and also for the yarn, soft cocoa nature designer paper, and the shell border punched tag!

The other papers and supplies are from my CKCB September 2018 kit titled Early Autumn Splendor.

Mid Autumn color tones with a twist version two card for four challenges

This was probably a first for me! My happy birthday card showcased on this post's papers all came from the same 6" x 6" paper pad!!! Love the pops of color to jazz up this autumn card!

CKCB current challenge kit that I made can be found in my archive list about 3 weeks ago. CKCB challenge 2 for the September copy cat kits is autumn theme, so I will give the link for that specific post:https://counterfeitkitchallenge.blogspot.com/2018/09/september-2018-challenge-2-autumn.html

The sketch shown above is from CCMWF (a secret group on FB; Christian Card Makers ~ Women's Fellowship) for their challenge that started 23 September 2018. Find this on FB or find me on FB at Becca Morris Sadler and ask me to refer you if you are interested in joining.

Four challenges' criteria were met by:
1. IB= fall foliage (leaf stick-ons and the paisley print)
2. HOC= birthday (HB is code for Happy Birthday; inside panel has congratulations and a candle image)
3. CKCB= paper pad collection and leaf stickers were part of my September 2018 copy cat kit I referred to as "Autumn Splendor"
4. CCMWF= sketch is almost an identical match in placement and size ratios; the only creative twist I did was pinch-pleat about 1/4" of the round circle message embellishment to show the 2-sided match to the vertical section just behind it. Even the base was made from almost a full 6" square sheet to help feature more of the patterns in this collection!

Mid Autumn color twist card for four challenges

Pops of bright color add twist to other autumn tones for this featured card:

Challenges for this card:
1. House of Cards color prompt challenge for September 2018 either bday or colors

2. Inspired By photo prompt challenge no 38 fall foliage

3. CCMWF/Christian Card Makers ~ Women's Fellowship sketch challenge started 23 September
*secret group on Facebook; if interested go to my profile (Becca Morris Sadler) or search on FB

4. CKCB/Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog September kit being used to make this card
*this is the first link for the month to see the selected kit for crafters to counterfeit in September=

More views of this mid-autumn tones card with unexpected pops of color:

The cocoa brown cardstock has a very thin-lined aqua blue design in it which in person makes the colors and pattern mixing more vibrant. In the sketch layout, instead of edging all the papers with black, I chose a gold metallic paint pen to draw lines just inside the edges. The half circle paper used on the sentiment block of the inside panel is the same paper behind the brown floral circle embellishment on the front right corner. (And make sure to check back in a day or two to see what I create with the patterned paper seen behind the card!!!)

Until next craft session, Becca S

Early Autumn Splendor CKCB kit used for projects 5 and 6 and 7

CKC Blog has a purple, red, and gold color challenge and CCMWF has sketch challenge with a twist:

Project 5 is Owl wish Thanksgiving blessings card and Projects 6 and 7 are Chattanooga sight-seeing day of vacation trip throughout IN, KY, and TN.

Project 5: this card is a combination of the 3 colors challenge by CKC blog with the sketch challenge with a twist from CCMWF. This is my 2nd sketch challenge card. Since the twist says we can't use designer patterned papers I decided to take a creative option to use glitter tapes for the vertical sections. I also varied their placement instead of going stair-stepped.

CCMWF sketch challenge with a twist (can't use any commercially printed/designer papers!) CCMWF stands for Christian Card Making ~ Women's Fellowship which is a closed group on Facebook.

This is the ID badge for CKCB. September's inspiration kit to counterfeit had some unexpected touches of light blue and aqua blue so I thought I'd used that color for some of the stickers to add an exciting punch to the chosen colors of the challenge (purple, red, and gold).

Projects 6 and 7: a double page scrapbook spread to showcase the vacation day from 2007 spent in Chattanooga, TN. Tennessee Valley operated a steam engine train ride for a 4-5 miles one-way even through a tunnel that goes across the north/NE side of the city. And then my husband paused long enough at Nickajack Dam/Lake for me to photograph him. I would have loved to have shown more of the water but didn't want to do a full page so for this part of the trip.

Project 6 is page one of the two page spread: the challenge's required colors are very evident with choices in papers and embellishments! The circle designed sections seen on both layout pages came from old computer type copy paper...perfect for this color palette! The maple leaves paper seen on both pages was one of my forgery items for this kit! And has perfect colors for this challenge on using purple, red, and gold!

Project 7 is page two of the two page spread:

It's such a good feeling to use old inventory in such a creative way! And it's extremely wonderful to have a chance to take these old vacation photos to feature onto scrapbook pages!!!!

Until next creative project to be crafted in the heartland, Becca S

Early Autumn Splendor kit used again for Projects 3 and 4

B is for bridge like in a covered bridge visited in Parke County, Indiana is project 3...and...Pastoral Appreciation card for October is project 4

Project 3: Parke Co. IN 2008 scrapbook layout dimensions about 8" x 11"

Project 4: Appreciation card for our pastor (October is Pastor Appreciation Month)

CKCB September's challenge contains lots of browns, yellows, greens, reds, and oranges which you will be reflected in both posted projects for today. CKCB has had several blog posts at the start of September to kickstart a new month's attempt to use old inventory. One of the early posts link is here: http://counterfeitkitchallenge.blogspot.com/2018/09/just-gist-of-it-september.html

This Mojo Monday #420 sketch was shared in the Facebook group, 100 Pattern Papers Challenge, this week and I've loosely based the scrapbook layout on this=

More scrapbook layout pics to see the details, pattern and color mixes, and how I creatively transformed this card sketch to become a photo layout:

This diagram sketch was used for the appreciation card/Project 4. I went horizontal and made long tags for the vertical sections and replaced the diamond/square with the floral/sunburst pair. The sketch was provided by Facebook closed group Christian Card Making ~ Women's Fellowship for the sketch challenge starting today, 10 September 2018.

Thanks to the following blogs/FB groups that have rejuvenated my crafting mojo in the past 6 weeks: Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog, 100 Pattern Paper Challenge, and Christian Card Making ~ Women's Fellowship!
