Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart's needing some creative time today! My soul needs some uplifting. I drove my mom to one my cousin's (her niece-by marriage) home about 75 minutes away on Saturday for an open house memorial for her oldest son who died of cancer in late September out in Arizona. I was 14 when her son was born. He was the first for his generation and he was adored from the moment when found out she was expecting him. I leaked tears and lots of drippy nose to wipe throughout the afternoon trying to keep a happy face as I was hugging my cousins and their children. Late last night I was replying and messaging to this 2nd cousin's widow who had received a 2nd card that I've sent to her in the past month. I'll have to send another one soon. And to her in-laws, my grieving cousin and her husband. 

But meanwhile, I wanted to do some messy creative randomness along with using recycled kraft cardstock packaging.

NOTE: the zig-zag marks are actually orange glitter paint pen; I didn't think it was neon but the scanner light has bleached it out to a very pale peach/blush color against the kraft cardstock.

MTTCC #46 CAS Style Other Winter Holiday Card Theme Inspiration Project

 Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart almost had a panic attack! I went to check on the design team draft blog for the Friday morning new launch for MTTCC and realized I had forgotten to make mine!!!! I was thinking I had another week for this theme! YIKES!!!

So about 2-2.5 hours before deadline I made one New Year's card, but I didn't like it. I doubted on the CAS aspect of it after I scanned it. So I got busy and went with a different color palette and a simpler layout design...

Celebrate 2023 square card=

it's not a white based CAS style but I've got plenty of open space on this 6" square card. All items are old stash even the "celebrate", however it is a 1st time use of the 3 in the set. (NBUS)

Stunning dramatic result!!! Perfect for New Year's Day!

My Time To Craft Christmas challenge blog's #46 theme is CAS style layouts for winter holidays/celebrations/festivals that are NOT Christmas Day. 2022 is in it's last 2 months almost and it's time to FIND the time to craft Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Feast of St. Nicholas, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, etc. NO Valentine's or Christmas. Keep it to December and January events.

MTTC #493 Theme is Things with Wings DT card

 Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! Oh, my heart and soul gets excited when an autumn season is cool-warm and you can enjoy long sleeves, lightweight sweaters, and hoodies! Looks like this might be the year for a great fall! 

It was a bit shaky with a frightening 96 degrees on the Tuesday before the 1st day of fall. Then 2 days later overnight temps dropped into the upper 40s! And the weather has continued to be a roller coaster. Leaf colors are at their peak this 3rd week of October. But instead of doing a Halloween bat or crow winged project I decided to go with a dove Christmas card. Competition starts October 21 and ends November 3 for My Time To Craft's #493 theme.

Peace on Earth:

Notes: the silver and white snowflakes are 'dazzles' from Paper Wishes website; the decorative tape might be Scotch brand but I'm not sure; the others have been in my scraps or stash supply boxes

Simple yet unified by colors and lets the dove show well against that gorgeous silver and white holly specialty textured paper. Below the dove in very fine script is "Peace on Earth".

 Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! Today's post features the design team inspiration card created for "The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenges blog". #126 starts October 18, 2022. THICC makes it easy to participate with its Anything Goes Christmas as its themes. 

I decided to mix some non-traditional greens with different reds, black, white, and silver bringing together odds and ends from different stash boxes. The mint green and white diagonal stripe and the red and white diagonal strip section are both from The Mint Berry paper pad from The Paper Studio that is my 2022 commitment to wipe out this year...not sure if I'm going to keep this goal. I started with 64 sheets and I might have that whittled down to 33. The silvery branches is half of a snowflake ornament! 2 washi tapes.

14 October 2022 MTTCC #45 Theme Colors of Kraft Brown and White

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! Oh, Christmas Day 2022 is getting closer!!! Small amounts of other colors are allowed for the #45 Kraft Brown and White color theme challenge at My Time To Craft Christmas challenge blog. Competition runs October 14-27, 2022 starting at 12am CT/Chicago on the 14th and ending at the same time on the 27th. 

On the first card, I went for a more broadened allowance on the kraft and white color duo. I've got lots of pale blush pinks that are looking beige-ish. Some pinkish-burgundy on 2 die-cuts/ephemera and the bright blue textured specialty paper add some color contrast. For card 2 I've adhered closer to the kraft brown and white with some gold.

design notes and vendors: paneling/barn siding cardstock is from Lake Life paper pad by Fancy Pants Designs; the Christmas print cardstock and ephemera are from Bo Bunny; other cardstocks/papers are stash items as well as the black ink used for edging, staples, and pale pink pearl gems

design notes and vendors: paneling is actually a vinyl wallpaper peel-n-stick scrap piece from an 11" x 16" piece found at Dollar Tree (YES!); it's on an A2 size white card base; white with gold dazzles from Paper Wishes website; gold snowflake is a Thicker/American Crafts; white glitter foam snowflake stickers and chevron burlap ribbon are also Dollar Tree finds!!!

Ally's Angels Challenge Blog 10 October 2022 DT project

 Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! 

This post showcases the inspiration card I made for the #63 challenge at Ally's Angels that starts October 10, 2022. AACB always has "Anything Goes", so there is no prescribed theme. 

I've needed a couple of sympathy cards, sadly, and this one I decided to have an autumn seasonal color palette and embellishment shapes. 

Autumnal Sympathy card:

I was hoping the closeup cropped scan would show those corner gems as orange! They're looking more olive green with a bit of orange. 

The plaid cardstock is packaging backing from "Cozy Christmas" by Fancy Pants Design. Each time I've seen the plaid since getting part of the collection this summer, I think autumn instead of winter/Christmas. So I've coordinated items from my stash to compliment the plaid.

MTTC #492 Theme of Geometrics Design Team Project for 7 October 2022

 Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! This posting showcases the inspiration card I made for my Design Team commitment with My Time To Craft challenge blog. The theme for #492 is geometrics! Friday October 7-Thursday October 20, 2022 is the competition period for MTTC's #492. 

My mind kept going to Halloween--pointy triangular witches hats, round pumpkins, triangular bundles of corn stalks, and many other possibilities. Then I thought of kids birthdays. But my cardmaking process was a bit backwards with this one. I used some old patterned papers to give me the design direction for "On Point" thinking of you card. A bit of a subtle pun given the star points and triangle points of the patterned papers.

1. rectangles of deep orange cardstock, black cardstock, and the triangle/diamond print paper; and I guess the blue glitter washi tape would also qualify as a rectangle

THICC is an always anything Christmas goes type theme published every 2 weeks on Tuesdays. 

Merry Everything Card=

Did you notice the little ornaments hanging below the vertically-run washi tape? There are 2 washi tapes used on this, 4 patterned papers with 3 coming from The Paper Studio/Hobby Lobby, and the 2 sizes of silver embossed snowflake stickers have all been in my Christmas stash boxes for many years! The TPS papers say 2016 on them!!!
