Miss Hollywood!

Happy Saturday!  Hope you have some fun things planned!  I'm hoping to get some scrapping done this weekend....have some projects that are coming due!  The weather is beautiful....cooled down somewhat from our near record heat earlier this week!

If you're wondering, yes, I'm still on the wagon for Layout A Day.  I can't believe I've really stuck it out this far.  I have fallen behind a day or two but I get right back on, get them done and caught up again.  I know that's not the plan, you're supposed to actually DO a layout every day and not feel the need to "get caught up" but for me, I feel like I can't just skip those days.  In order to feel that I've actually accomplished it, I would have to finish a layout for every day.  The only days I've missed are the days where I just could not get one done, because of not being home or so busy.  But like I said, I've managed to stay up and for that, I'm proud of myself!!!

Here's my day 9 layout.

LOAD9 "Miss Hollywood"
Supplies:
Cardstock:  Bazzill
Patterned Paper:  Upcycle, Repeat (Cosmo Cricket)
Alphas:  Dear Lizzy Glitter Foam Stickers, Typo Chipboard Letter Stickers, (American Crafts)
Tags:  Blank Pennants (Elle’s Studio)
Mist:  Mister Huey’s Color Mist, Piglet (Studio Calico)
Stickers:  Hazel “Lovely” Label Stickers, Stella and Rose (My Minds Eye);  Layered Pops Stickers “Life of the Party” (Basic Grey)
Other:  Bird, shipping tags, cupcake liner

This prompt is all about color.  We've been on color for a few prompts now.  This particular one was about a color that speaks to you.  When I look at this color chart, the first color that pops out at me is the fuschia. With the blossom and strawberry pulling me too.  So that is what I went with on my layout.

By the way, everything on my layout is from the May Magpie Club kit!  It's an amazing kit!

Here's my day 8 layout.
LOAD8 "Look I Picked A Flower..."
Supplies:
Cardstock:  Bazzill
Patterned Paper:  Grove, Countryside Collection (Studio Calico)
Alphas:  Prima
Tags:  Owl Love You Forever Note Tags, Scalloped Journaling Tags, Date & Place Strips (Elle’s Studio)
Mist:  Mister Huey’s Color Mist, Lemonade (Studio Calico)
Chipboard:  Togetherness Adhesive Chipboard (Cosmo Cricket)
Other:  Butterflies; doilies

This prompt was about using color to "ground" your photos.  Not exactly sure I followed the prompt on this one, but I just starting pulling product out and went with it.  I pulled colors from these photographs of my adorable niece.  The colors green and yellow stood out to me the most.  Although these are not colors that I would typically use, especially not together, I think they worked well on the layout.

Again, I used the May Magpie Club kit for this layout.....a ton of product, I'm telling you! I have been creating layouts with it and still have so much left!

Hope you're enjoying the look at the LOAD layouts!  Now off to get mine done for today!

Have a great weekend!

Wednesday Layouts

Happy hump-day Wednesday!  Thought I'd share some of my newest layouts with you today.  You know I've been participating in the LOAD challenges.  And I have to say, it's been kind of tough to keep up with.  I did fall off the wagon on Mothers Day just because the day was so full, I didn't have a chance to get my layout done.  And what good is scrapbooking the memories if we don't take the time to make the memories?  So that's what I did on Sunday!  I did manage to get caught up though.

Here is LOAD #6 ~ The prompt was all about alignment

LOAD6 Cousins
Supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill
Patterned Paper: Hometown Summer “Fruit Stand” and “Summer Fun” (Pink Paislee)
Tag: Handmade Layers Journaling Tags (Elle’s Studio)
Stickers: Count Flag Banners Cardstock Stickers (Sassafras)
Alphas: Foam Sticker Letters (The Paper Studio); Corrugated White Alphas (Jillibean Soup)
Twine: Pink Sorbet (The Twinery)
Mist: Mister Huey’s Calico White (Studio Calico)
Punch: Martha Stewart Deep Edge Punch

This layout prompt was all about alignment.  I aligned my photos, title, patterned papers and even my banner to the right.

I'm also in Lisa Day's 28 Days of Sketches class at BPS, so I used one of her amazing sketches from day 2, for my layout.   Although, it's a good thing that a sketch is all subject to interpretation because I think I totally deviated from it.  But once I got started, I just went with it and ended up with the layout you see!

Here's LOAD #7 ~ This prompt was about scraplifting (or as I like to think, inspired by!)

LOAD7 Lil Girl Sweets

Supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill
Ledger Paper & Tag: Inspire Lovely, Etsy
Alphas: Pink Glitter Alpha (Sassafras); Red Line Chipboard (Cosmo Cricket)
Tissue Flower: Notions (Studio Calico)
Twine: Lemondrop (The Twinery)
Mists: Mister Huey’s Color Mist, Lemonade and Piglet (Studio Calico)
Other: Washi tape (unknown); vintage buttons

I am in love with this layout, even if I do say so myself!  I don't know if it's the color scheme or what but I ended up being very happy with it.  Maybe it has to do with the fact that I scraplifted the page from the amazing Melissa Mann, whose style I just adore!  Here's the link to her layout.

I still have more layouts to share but I'll wait for another day so I don't throw it all at you at once!

LOAD #5 ~ 25 minutes to done

Well, yesterday was really the first time so far, during LOAD, that I felt the huge crunch of too many things to do and not enough time.  Yesterday my day was full!  I found myself at 11 pm with no LOAD done!  But I am really trying to focus and make sure I make every effort to get one done every day!  I did not want to "fall off the wagon" five days into this!

So, I when I decided I was definitely going to do my layout is was about 11:05 pm.

I gave myself 25 minutes to complete my layout (which included printing out my picture).

That would give me time to take the pic of my layout and get it uploaded to the gallery before midnight.

So I did!  Here's my 25 minute layout!

Cardstock: Kraft (Bazzill)
Patterned Paper: Harbor Die Cut “Seaside” (October Afternoon); Mix & Mend “Fancy Free” (Sassafras); Hometown Summer “Summer Fun” and “Sunnyside Lane” (Pink Paislee)
Tags: Blank Pennants (Elle’s Studio)
Mist: Mister Huey’s “Bonnet Blue” (Studio Calico)
Alphas: Cushies “Lemon” (Pink Paislee); Delight Foam Letter Stickers (American Crafts)
Sticker:  Sweet Treats Cardstock Stickers (Sassafras)
Paper Flowers: Delights Paper Flowers “Party Favor” (American Crafts)

Overall, I was very pleased.  And, the best part, it's done!  I'm really learning a lot as I go through this process. I'm learning more about my style and what I like which is really making it easier to get a layout done quicker. Now off to day 6....not waiting until 11 pm on this one! LOL

Don't forget about our NSD of fun planned at For The Luv of Art tomorrow.  It all starts at 9 am EST and we'll be having fun things planned throughout the day.  Lots of giveaways and RAK's too!  Don't miss it!

LOAD #4 ~ NSD Plans?

And here we go with Layout A Day #4.  This prompt was all about white space.  Yeah, I said white space!  Not something I am known for.  I love embellishments and rarely leave so much empty space on my layouts but that was the challenge so I went with it.  And actually, I was pretty pleased with the results.

 Supplies
Cardstock:  Bazzill
Patterned Paper:  Grove, Studio Calico
Mist:  Piglet, Mister Huey Studio Calico
Doilies:  Martha Stewart
Crochet Flowers:  Dear Lizzy American Crafts
Tag:  Date and Place Strips, Elles Studio
Paper Flowers:  Delights by American Crafts
Stickers:  Sassafras
Buttons, Vellum Butterflies, Scallop Tag, Leopard Sticker:  All from May Magpie Club Bits and Bobs Kit
Punches:  Martha Stewart, EK Success, The Paper Studio

Again, I used more embellies from the May Magpie Bits and Bobs kit.  There is just so much in that kit I think I'll be using it for a long time!

Now before you jump to conclusions and report me to the Bad Auntie Bureau for having a favorite among my kiddos, let me attach a close up of the journaling.....then you can let me back in the Awesome Auntie Club!
See what I mean!  I love telling Brooklin she's my favorite because she just glows and gets this huge smile on her face!  We always seem to have so much fun and she is my sidekick whenever she's around!  Then it hit me one day when my sister said something.....she said "She's so much like you....she wants everyone happy and having fun".  You know what, I think she's right!   We are both like that!

So this Saturday is you know what....if you don't know what this Saturday is, let me tell you!  It's National Scrapbook Day!  Yes there is a day devoted to us!   I'm inviting you to come hang out at For The Luv of Art!  We have so many fun games, challenges, tutorials and giveaways planned!  Don't miss it!  I'll be hanging out there most of the day.  I'd love to see you over there!

Hope you're having a great Thursday!  Now off to go work on my layout for today!

Magpie Bits and Bobs ~ LOAD #3

Here we go!!!  Here is my Layout A Day for day 3 which was yesterday.  I didn't get it completed until last night but was able to get it uploaded into the gallery before the deadline!  Whew!  Too close for comfort!  Already working on todays, so I should be good!

Here's Day 3 layout:  The focus on this layout was Emphasis....placing emphasis on your layout.  I accomplished that by using the color photo in the center with the other photos in black and white.  That places emphasis on the center photo.  Also having it in the center with everything around it tends to draw the eye into it too.  See what you think!
Supplies Used:
Kraft Cardstock
Zebra Vellum, striped patterned paper, buttons, trims, sequins, paper clip, dictionary papers, brads, felt flower, scalloped kraft journaling spot, all from May Magpie Bits and Bobs kit
Alphas:  Thickers by American Crafts
Tags:  Handmade Layers Tiny Tags, Elles Studio
Leaves:  Hometown Summer, Pink Paislee
Mist:  White Mister Huey's, Studio Calico

I actually did an 8 1/2 x 11 layout!  I haven't done one of those in years but I have to say I enjoyed it.  I'm going to be mixing my layouts more.  I just love how the mixture of sizes looks in the photo albums.

Here's some close ups of those wonderful bits and bobs!
Just look at the gorgeous little bits in this kit!  Makes my heart pitter patter!
The flower was made from a sheet of book paper that was included in the kit.
That cute little leopard print paper clip was included in the kit!  I know!!!  How cute is that?

See those gorgeous trims?  See that beautiful zebra vellum?
Yep!  In the kit!

Here's that gorgeous vellum paper again.  I just punched it with my doily shape then added one of the gorgeous buttons from the kit!

I've said it before, I'll say it again, just go take a look at the Bits and Bobs kit from Magpie!  They are amazing and you won't find a better deal on all the little pieces of goodness that added to your layout are like the cherry on top of your favorite cupcake!

Have a great Wednesday!

I finished my second LOAD layout late last night.  (Sorry for the bad lighting but it was dark when I finished and had to use my flash.)  I had to get it uploaded before midnight so I had no choice but to just go for it!
I am really enjoying this so far although it does add a bit of “pressure” to my day in that I am really pushing myself to stay focused to get that days layout done along with everything else I need to get in my day.  I am just really hoping I can keep it up for the whole month!  Whew, it’s a commitment, I can see that already!
Yesterdays prompt had everything to do with contrast.  Not color contrast (that’s coming later I hear).  But contrast in the form of photos, letters, sizes etc.  I accomplished the contrast aspect by using the large photo in contrast to the two smaller photos.  Also accomplished in the title with using the large alphas with the smaller alphas.
For these LOAD I’m not spending as much time on them as I would my regular layouts but I feel that’s ok because I am learning a lot in the process!  I’ll keep you posted!
Also, wanted to share some new things in the FTLOA store!  Are you ready for some Echo Park goodness?
I think I need this Playground line!  I have lots of pics of my kiddos that this would be perfect for!

Loving this For The Record line!  It’s on my scrap table right now and I can’t wait to dig in and play with it!
And you know what goes great with both lines?  The Mister Huey’s mist from Studio Calico!

I know!  I’m an enabler!  LOL
Hope you’re having a great Tuesday!  We’re having a rainy day here today but that’s ok with me because I had my six month check up post surgery and everything is looking good…now we wait for the lab results like always, just to confirm!  Happy to be living today!!!
Enjoy life!

LOAD #1

Oh my!  I did it!  I joined Lain Ehmann’s Layout A Day class for May!  If you haven’t heard of it, you may want to follow the link and check it out.  It is a challenge to create a layout everyday in the month of May.  You get daily email prompts about doing the layout and also emails and videos with various scrapbooking teachers to help in the process.  I am looking forward to the challenge and I know I have heard from other people who have done LOAD before that they learn so much through the process.  I’m looking forward to that.

The theme for this LOAD class is “Back to the Basics” which I love.  It’s all about design, color, journaling and embellishments!

The first challenge for today was to create a layout with just the basics:  A photo, title, journaling, cardstock and patterned paper (you could use alphas or stamps for the title).  Well, that sent me in a bit of a spin because I like to fill my pages with stuff!  But I went for it anyway and here is my layout…
Our-Sweet-Shine_web  This was tough for me because my layout felt undone.  You know me, I usually have to have goodies splattered all over the layout!  But I have to say, this is obviously the quickest layout I’ve ever done.  I think it took me about 20 minutes to pull together.  Thankfully, that background patterned paper saved me.  It has so much going on that it helped fill in my layout.  At any rate, it’s completed!  Day 1 down!

I do hope I can keep this up, usually I fall off the bandwagon when things get busy in the week even though my intentions are good!  Keep checking back and I’ll be sharing my LOAD!

And check back tomorrow for a Scrap Tiffany layout using the wonderful new “Bits and Bobs” kit from Magpie Club!

Have a great Sunday evening!
