The Race is On!

I'm sure many of you already know, but the Rusty Pickle Amazing Race is on!
I've been following this race because my sister, Kristi, is one of the finalists participating. I have to say it's been so fun following them and watching them grab their clues and go. Make sure you check out the Rusty Pickle blog to get updates. Also, they are giving away prizes on their blog for those of us who are following. You can also follow them on Facebook under "Amazing racers. rusty pickle style". Go check them out....lots of fun there too!

I'm So Excited!!!

I just received some great news that I'm so excited about! Many of you know, my sister recently submitted some designs and was selected for the Rusty Pickle Amazing Race. This is where they will choose their awesome design team, so she is starting in the race.

Well, she inspired me to get going. A blog that I follow regularly, Scrap Tiffany, posted a call for design team submissions. She was going to be selecting four people for her design team. She has a website that provides monthly kits. Very cute stuff! Well, I saw the post about a month or so ago and thought it would be fun to try it but never really did anything about it. The deadline was Thursday, June 18th at midnight. All day on the 18th, I kept thinking, "Why didn't I submit things and go for that?" I kept kicking myself all day because I really like this company and Tiffany's blog. I've been wanting to be a part of a design team for a long time but just never took the plunge.

Well, in true "Sheri" fashion, a wild hair hits me about 4 pm and I think to myself, "I'm gonna try this!" What? It's 4 pm and the deadline is midnight. Mind you, I have to do two layouts with one about me, which I've never done before, an altered item and a card. Photos have to be taken of them and a profile information typed up and all of this submitted by midnight! Thank goodness it was Pacific Time, because that gave me two extra hours! A huge feat by any means. (This is not just how I am, actually my sister, my mom, my daughter, all have the same traits! We just work well under pressure, I guess.)

So I proceeded with my projects and with 15 minutes to spare, I got everything done, uploaded and email off with my submissions.

I'm so happy to say that, "I MADE IT!"
I am now on the Scrap Tiffany Design Team!
You can check it out here!

I am so excited that I get to be a part of this great team. I have loved following Tiffany's blog for some time now and love her designs.

Here's the projects I submitted:

Ok, well I think that's just about enough excitement for one day! Thanks to my sister, Kristi, for giving me just the push I needed! Love you T and you're gonna be one great pickle!

Happy Birthday Sis!

I seriously have the best sister ever! Today is her birthday and I just want to wish her a Happy Birthday! I so wish we could be together today. She is one of the most generous people I know. She is always giving so much of herself to others. Whether it's friends, her family, her service at church, she always puts others ahead of herself. She is always ready to do anything anyone needs her help with and she would give you the very shirt off her back if you needed it.

I was blown away by her sensitivity recently. We took the kids to the Sting Ray Reef so they could feed and pet the stingrays. We were busy about having fun but she noticed a young woman there with her kids. They were standing back watching our kids feeding the sting rays. The woman's children asked their mom if they could feed them and the mom said, "Oh no honey, that costs money and we can't right now". I noticed Kristi over at the counter but had no clue what she was doing digging in her purse. She came back with food and gave it to those kids so they could have food to feed the stingrays. The mom was so shocked and appreciative. I was stunned too. Not that I was surprised that she did that but because it seems we can all get so busy about our own lives and own agendas that it becomes easy to overlook the opportunities to be a blessing. Kristi doesn't. She is always sensitive to those around her are struggling and in need.

That is just her. She has always been there for me and my family. She always been willing to help with whatever crazy thing we had planned and she always makes things fun. I'm amazed at all she does, juggling her busy family, church and helping others. Somehow she fits in all in and no matter how frazzled she may feel, she always exudes excitement in everything she does.

I just wanted to take some time today to let you know, T, that I appreciate you so very much. I'm glad God gave me you for a sister. This time apart has made me appreciate even more all the times we were together and how I sometimes took that for granted. I miss you so much and I hope that some day we can all be together again! I'm not hiding that anymore and not ashamed to say it!

So please, if Kristi is important in your life, as I know she is in so many people's lives, just give her a text message, an email, a voicemail message, something to say happy birthday!

I love you T.

Hold MeTight!

Just love this picture of Brooklin and Alex....they have the best time playing together. Thought I'd put a quick page together since it's been a while since I've done any creating. Right now I'm trying to still clean my scrap area from when my sister was here! She makes quite a mess you know! (Just kidding T!)

Fun with Sis!

I loved having my sister visit last week. We had such a fun and relaxing time. I was editing pictures yesterday and I found some great shots that I thought I'd post here and share with you. There's nothing as fun as spending time with your sister! I miss you, T.

We had a fun lunch at the Cottage Cafe with a friend, April, who by the way, is popping with a little bundle that she is expecting in July. Love this girl! Her and T just seem to hit it off...not sure who talks more.....April or T???? They're both busy mom's and have a lot in common.

Brooklin was so good during lunch....she just played with her blocks and was so content.
Love her so much!

Then we went to a couple of antique stores to browse. I'm so glad that me and T have that in common....we love to get in those stores and look around and see what we can find. Wait until you see what treasures she discovered.....I'm sure she'll be sharing on her blog soon.

Isn't she cute!
(I won't tell you the ideas Rick had for me doing some Photoshop magic in this picture with the "antique" sign above her head...gotta love him T!)

This little guy wanted to come home with one of us soooo bad.....unfortunately I have no place to put him and T was having a hard time coming up with a way to get the airlines to let her carry it on! But it is so cool, our minds were just running crazy thinking of all the fun things you could do with this!

T loved this fleur de lis vase

Ok, when we saw this headboard, we both couldn't believe it. T had this same exact headboard when we were kids. She had it with her pink and red bedroom. When we went to another store, they had a matching chair that she also had.

And this ugly thing.....our parents had one just like it when we were kids.

These canisters left us salivating! Love the color and can't you just see the possibilities of these?

T remembers having one of these....I must have been too cool since, yes, I'm older, and wasn't playing with her farm!

We had a blast in Hobby Lobby. I think we were in there for like 3 hours! Easy to do. She was so funny. She got excited going up and down every aisle...can't you just see her jumping up and down and screaming, "Oh aren't you just so excited???" You can see her camera strap around her neck.....yes we take our cameras even in Hobby Lobby!

Had a great time with you here T.....Miss you.

Happy Birthday Brooklin!

Happy Birthday to our Brooklin!
She turns 5 years old today!

I just love this little girl....she is so amazing and so full of personality. She is so full of life and always laughing and making us laugh. She is her own person and definitely has her own style. God certainly blessed our family when he gave her to us! Happy Birthday Brooklin! We love you and miss you so much. Hope you get lots of fun presents and enjoy lots of great cake!

So Proud of My Sis!

I'm so proud of my sister! She just found out today that she is a finalist for the Rusty Pickle Design Team! She worked so hard to get her projects submitted even during her visit with us here in Nashville. She really is an amazing scrapbooker and does some great projects. She is one of 12 finalists chosen. Now they continue on what they call "The Amazing Race". She has to still submit several different layouts and/or projects as they assign and get them done timely. At the end, they will choose who will be one of their designers on their design team! That's a pretty big accomplishment to be a designer on a brand like Rusty Pickle! I'm so happy for her. I know she'll do great....she is a Rusty Pickle natural! Go check it out here!

It was great having her for a visit this past week and I'm so glad I was with her on the day she found out! Even though things were crazy, packing up and getting ready to return home. I love you T and I'm so proud of you!
