I guess it's back to the old grindstone for Pop after spending the last 10 or so days with me and making sure my litter box got cleaned before 3 pm. *glares at TW* Here's today's news headlines from the condo. Warning: not all involved The Cat.
The Cat got more gifts than my Secret Paws. There were rattle shmousies galore, a silvervine/nip sock, nip carrot (not pictured), gummy worm dental chew, mint dental chew and (not pictured) a plethora of rattle balls. TW must think I don't have anything better to do than bat balls and shmousies around all day and night.
The other night we had a Super Wolf Moon—the brightest and closest moon we'll see all year. I axed that TW take some photos. The main image is the moon over Manhattan and the inset is the closeup we took. It looked so close to us. It's still pawsome tonight.
I won a new bed but still prefer my igloo by day and my new blankie by night. Can you see me in the igloo?
It's been muy chillito outside and inside. TW doesn't like to keep it too hot in here because of my asthma. She doesn't want my throat and windpipe drying out. Can you believe our bedroom is 61-63 degrees at night? Even though I have a fur coat, I still need a blankie to stay warm. The thermostat is set at 68-69 but our window is drafty. I'll be glad when we get our new windows next year even if neither of us are looking forward to the noise and inconvenience. (Which room will CK hide when every room has a window?) Oh, did I mention that our Venta air cleaner/humidifier doesn't work that great. The humidity in our room is about 7 degrees higher than in Pop's room but it still hovers around 33% which is way too dry. We have it on the second speed since the top speed has a sonic boom.
I've been loving running behind Fraser. I run through the Orange Tunnel From Hell (it's a Jackson Galaxy tunnel) in the hall through the condo and end up behind the tree. Speaking of Fraser, he's still drinking water and looking good. TW says he might be the freshest tree they ever had with the exception of the one that started growing. He better not try being fresh with me. Kitty don't play that game.

Did you see the super moon? What have you been up to?

Wow, your human keeps it cold at your place, CK! It is a big deal for my human to turn the thermostat in the bedroom down to 71 at night. Typical southern Californian. Oh, and then she chases me away from the heater vents because it "makes me lose coat," and I'll look crappy at the cat shows. You never can win, can you?
ReplyDeleteWow, dat are pretty cold. My momma always wants it warmer dan everyone else - her room is da warmest in da house.

ReplyDeleteYeah, the polar cap seems to be slipping south! You sure got some lovely things for Christmas and I am glad you have a lovely snuggle WARM place to rest! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
Brrrr. It sure is cold, isn't it, CK? Don't you think cuddling up to TW might be even a little bit worth it, to stay warm?
ReplyDeletePumpkinpuddy here. Mom's had windows replaced in other houses she's owned. The workmen were quick, didn't leave a mess, and it wasn't very noisy. Getting new windows may be less inconvenient than you're picturing. Also, if the building allows, get double hung, tilt in to clean windows. You'll be glad you did.
ReplyDeleteYep, we see the padlock. That moon picture is very cool.
ReplyDeleteIt's very cold here too, CK, but Manny and Chili Bruce just keep running and playing!
ReplyDeleteYou got a cool room but the rest of the house is very warm. I guess it's just us....we turn the thermostat to 65F for the whole house when we go to bed. Personally, I think this is way too chilly but what's a kitty to do?
ReplyDeleteShoko
We love your igloo house *that's a hint, Mom* and our Mom loves that you have a chilly bedroom. She's the only constant hot potato around here.
ReplyDeleteMewow CK I admire how you run your home and humans! I am new to my home and still training my woman how things are to be to my satisfaction, that hasn’t stopped her from disobeying though. Hopefully she will soon learn that curtains ARE meant to climb and we are not replacing them with something ‘cat proof’!

I do think that moon might be made of cheese. Maybe Cheddar? Tee hee hee! Mom & Dad keep my house cold at night, too. Burr... I think they do it on purr-pose so that I'll snuggle up with them. That's OK with me. I would snuggle with you if I came for a visit. Hugs! -Valentine (& Mom) of Noir Kitty Mews
ReplyDeleteYou have lots of presents to play with.
ReplyDeleteI keep our bedroom at 60 during the night with the small top window open a bit. Even then it is often too warm for me. I can't sleep unless I have fresh air coming in.
That's about the temp we keep our thermostat on too...you really should consider cuddling TW! Your new toys look like fun, CK! --Mudpie
ReplyDeleteThose were fun photos CK! Hey, y'all gonna get some snow???
ReplyDeleteYou got a lot of great goodies for Christmas. I bet your peeps will be happy if you use the dental chews instead of them. :) It sure has been cold, 61- 63 inside is quite chilly. XO
ReplyDeleteThe mom keeps the house at 63 degrees at night. But the bedrooms are upstairs and it’s always a little warmer up there. So that’s where we stay most of the time. That picture of the moon is pawsome.
ReplyDeleteBrrr, that's cold ! An igloo house is really appropriate ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteHi CK! Wow! you got a ton-o-toys!!! Me too! It is so wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYes I did get to see the super moon for the 2 seconds it was not foggy!
Our townhouse has 3 heat levels...on the door and garage level, it is COLD! Mommy turned off the heat vents because we don't live down there. She says, "Why heat it if we don't use it!" (my favorite litter box is down there human!)
We have forced air heat with a programmable thermostat on the main level and it goes down to 62 at night and during the day when Mom is not home (when she is there it is 70). Upstairs is heated with electric heat and whatever heat rises from the main level. This is where our bedroom is. This winter, the only room that has the heat turned on is the bathroom (something was said about cold porcelain and tushes). I too have asthma and with the humidity from living at sea level and the cool I am doing OK. What I like best is we have a heated mattress pad! And that is how we (Mommy and me) stay warm at night.
I must say the picture you have of the moon is incredible! Mommy loves it!

An open bed is ok sometimes, but I like my covered bed...it's a great hidey spot.
ReplyDeleteMy Dad would love to keep our house colder, but Mom won't allow it. We keep the house at 65 overnight and Mom sleeps in long p.j.s with flannel sheets and 3 blankets! When they're awake the house is 68-70. Dad is in shorts and Mom has on a sweatshirt and sometimes snuggles under a blanket. She says they are "thermally incompatible".
