Does Your Cat Crave a Taste of the Wild? #ChewyInfluencer

Hello again! That's how I announce myself to TW when I jump on the cat tree near the computer desk while she is trying to work. I'm back with another exciting cat food review for Chewy.com. For this one, they axed if I wanted to do my report from high atop the Grand Canyon looking down at the river but that sounded a bit too adventurous to this ghetto kitteh. I think I'll lay right in my "mauve thing" and dictate to TW. Are your fingers ready, Woman?

This ghetto kitteh is no stranger to Taste of the Wild. In the past, I've enjoyed the Rocky Mountain kibble and wet food. Unfortunately, they changed the formula a couple of years back and IMSO (in my stunning opinion) it wasn't quite as nommy. For my review, I chose the Canyon River recipe to see what that tasted like.

Before I get to my taste test, I'll give you the 411. I'm all about ferocious and any food like Taste of the Wild Canyon River that feeds your feline's wild side is OK with me. It contains real trout and wood-smoked salmon based on kitty's ancestral diet. The mix of quality fish protein with highly digestible sweet potatoes, antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables and a savory gravy will leave your cat purring for more! It's grain-free with probiotics to maximize kitty's nutritional healthy benefits. The canned formula makes the perfect standalone diet or a great complement to Canyon River Dry Cat Food*. It’s the balanced diet nature intended.

Here are some more reasons you should try Canyon River formula from Taste of the Wild:
  • Grain-free diet with sweet potatoes provides highly digestible energy for active cats
  • Made with trout and salmon, this premium formula offers great taste and quality fish protein
  • Great-tasting complement to the Canyon River Feline dry formula, or a stand-alone diet
  • Supplemented with vegetables and fruits, delivering natural antioxidants to help give your furry friend a healthy lifestyle
  • Lowers carbohydrate intake and increases water intake, both important features in feline nutrition

TW opened a can and immediately noticed the lack of gravy. She wasn't pleased but I'm the one doing the taste testing. I licked what gravy was in there dry in no time. The gravy is nommy. I ate a few pieces of the "meat" but never went back to it. To tell you the truth, the pieces are a bit large for me. I like tiny pieces better. TW says I'm too lazy to chew. The same scene has played out for the other cans I taste tested.

I'll bet I would have liked it better if I was high atop the Grand Canyon!

* To ensure kitty stays healthy, never feed your cat a diet consisting of only kibble.

  4. We ate this food in the past. For some reason it fell off our radar. It sounds like good stuff.

  5. If I didn't hear Mudpie munching on her kibble I'd think she was too lazy to chew too! Selective laziness, I guess :)

  6. Now that looks delish! That's for a great review. And for the advice never to feed your kitty just kibble. Our mom makes sure we have plenty of both.

  7. Great review. We usually only like pate and Mom was concerned that we wouldn't like this but we did. You might want to smoosh it with some water.

  8. My kitties are scolding me for not picking this one for them to try out, CK. The kitties around here just don't usually digest fish all that pleasantly, so I went a different route. They weren't impressed with my selection, though, so I'm being informed I should have risked the fish and gone for this instead. I hope they don't punish me too harshly.

  10. My kitties liked this, but I broken up the pieces a little with a fork.

  11. We mash lumps up with a fork - works well, especially if its one they love!

  12. Those do look like big pieces. But I bet my Olive would love whatever gravy she'd be able to lick up from it!

  13. I never did get the hang of likin' the fish food stuff. But TKS on the other paw adores it. Great review BFGF
