Wednesday Word—Vermin
There's No Vermin in My Condo! Had the shmousy toy I'm playing with been real, I'd have torn it from limb to limb. In the 10 years I've lived here, we haven't seen or heard a mouse. Oh sure, there was the big moth invasion and your occasional spider. But that might have changed.
The other night, TW was doing her nightly crossword puzzle and I was on the pink cat perch resting my eyes. Suddenly we heard a noise in the corner of the room behind the "Yankee" chair. It was in the wall. We're on the top floor and there's been rumors that there may be vishus squirrels in the roof. TW has never heard anything suspicious. Anyhoo, the scritching sound went on a few more seconds. By this time, we were both staring at the wall.
I jumped up and ran over to the chair; TW waddled closely behind. We heard the noise again and I leaped up and threw myself against the wall. Suddenly, all was silent again. TW started moving clutter out of the way but nothing out of the ordinary was found. Was it a mouse or a vishus squirrel? We haven't heard anything since. Any vermin who enters my condo will pay the price. You can make book on that.

Your mom's lucky to have you on mouse and squirrel duty, CK. I bet you're the best of the best! With 4 cats (and one large dog) living at my house, I sure hope I never encounter any mice. Purrs!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking after you threw yourself against the wall it scared the "****" out of whatever critter was on the other side and it's GONE. They knew they were up against something BIG and MEAN and packed their bags and departed! GOOD FOR YOU!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sam
I think you're now in the Vermin Rules Book CK as one to avoid!
ReplyDeleteGood job protecting your condo CK.
ReplyDeleteYou are doing good work keeping the vermin out CK. A couple of years ago my mum kept hearing scratchy noise above the ceiling when she was in bed. I kept standing up and staring, but whatever it was soon moved out. My dad never heard it. He will sleep through anything.

We always have no-kill traps in the basement and every now and then hear strange scratch noises in the wall. It's kind of creepy.
ReplyDeleteNo vermin would dare set foot or paw in your condo, CK.

You probably scared whatever it was away, CK! :) They know better than to set foot in your domain.
ReplyDeleteI vote for squirrel as that sounds better than mice in the wall.
